Title: CWF members survey
Post by: Hack on June 19 2006, 03:03 pm
umm...this is only a suggestion ^^:;; so if you guys don't like it
that's fine  :sweatdrop:
my school did this...they gave out survey for us
to see who was:

the best graphic maker:
the most friendly post maker:
the best idea maker:
and  sort

a bit confusing?

edit:
if it's too confusing for you...look at robin sena's post below...it'll clear you out
like she said, i would rather put it as Award cermony

welll....
that's how we get to know each other a little more ^^::
Title: Re: CWF members survey

That's the reason why we have profiles. If someone wants to mentions things that interest them, they will put them there.

See. Simple.

And why would I want to know others better...or vica-versa?
Title: Re: CWF members survey
Post by: Hack on June 20 2006, 10:37 am
it's different
people wouldn't say ," oh and...i'm the best graphic designer!"
would they?
it's just for fun

If I want others to know more about me, I'll let them know. This idea would really be a waste of time IMO.

And seeing how pretty much nobody has replied to this thread to support it, I can say it's a dead issue now

As for me, since nobody asks about me, I won't tell anything XD. By the way, isn't the Anything Goes thread enough to let everyone know about everyone here?

Before you do Arcademan, let me put my 2 cents on it.

We have this system in my forums called "Awards" once a year. Kai Mizuki uses some examples and we give a specified award after voting ends.

Really. I never heard about that. but also, I just join up this year....what is it about anyway?

Ashlee - The system is simple.

Post an Award - Category.

Users nominate members for that category.

Voting begins (from those nominated)

Tada! Once voting ends the user with the most votes gets the specified award!

I'll be happy to give my support in this as well. It seems interesting. Although, if I may make a suggestion, let's arrange it so the awards aren't obvious like highest post count or most cookies. Everybody on here knows those results. Let's make it strictly opinion based like the friendliest, or most charismatic and so forth. Of course, this is just a suggestion.
Title: Re: CWF members survey
Post by: Arcademan on June 24 2006, 12:43 pm
An award contest sounds like a better idea...gets more of the forum members involved in something like this. You can nominate me as 'Most hated Moderator of CWF' :D

Also...contrary to popular belief, I cannot lock this thread or I would've done it a LOOOOONG time ago.

moezy-chan - Actually that's the categories we're using there.

So, where should I put this awards topic if it gets the go signal?

i say....LET'S BEGIN!!

but what for category's do we have sofar and what for category's are we going to add?
Title: Re: CWF members survey
Post by: Robin Sena on June 25 2006, 07:52 pm
kuro-puppy - Take your pick, but I suggest we do basic stuff first.

Like, Most Seen User or Most Active User (both are different).
Title: Re: CWF members survey
Post by: Kuro-puppy on June 25 2006, 08:20 pm
let me make a little list just for the fun off it (User is the same as member right?)

- Most seen user
- Most active user
- Most friendly user
- Favorite user
- Most helpfull user
- User with the best quotes in signature
- User with nicest avatar/signature

couldn't think of anything better :sweatdrop:
Title: Re: CWF members survey
Post by: Arcademan on June 26 2006, 01:46 am
Uhh...let's not use 'most depressed user' as one. The awards should always reflect the positives of the forum and not dwell on the negatives of it.

Also to add...like the last time, do NOT include me in the awards. Thank You.

Yes, agreed. We should look for the good in our members ^_^

Here's some of my ideas:

Most energetic user
Most knowledgable user
Best graphic maker
Most polite user

All I can think of for now.

it can be positive and encourage users. as long as it is done fairly and well ^__^

*off-topic* omg you still have a hang-over from yesterday's boxing match XD  *end of off-topic*

Anyway, we should think about prizes now....  As in, we got already our awards, so how about the prizes? will it be in the form of cookies?

Though I'm not good at graphics, he** I've never even tried it  :sweatdrop:) I am more than willing to donate my pictures as forms of awards. One of the members can insert the text. If anybody else has ideas, please share.

In our forums, we give a graphic award (an example in ours is the EX Tomoyo++ Award), of course, I'm not really capable on doing highly detailed awards, so I'll leave others to do that.

moezy-chan - Can you do it?

That is something I'm never good at. I"m in charge at another forum, and upcoming up with awards is so hard. These are what we came up with, if you wan't to use them....

~3 Karma for the winner (karma are like cookies) 2, for the runner up, 1 one the 3rd rummer up
~Well, also, there is a small little icon (33x81), which tells what you won
~And we have a area, on where you can view to see who won what.

I know they suck, but that is all I came up with on that fourn. >_>

Wow, don't you hate it when you're gone for awhile and you miss all the good stuff!?

I really like this idea, actually. A few years ago they had an award poll at an old forum of mine and it worked out quite nicely. I'm looking forward to see how it works here.

Haha, oh geez, the Syaoran Fangirl award is going to be nuts! Can't wait to see how that turns out. :tongue3:

If there's any way I can contribute please let me know!

i was thinking about making the awards 'special' fanlevels.....
example:

the winner of the Syaoran fangirl award gets her fanlevel as 'Greatest Syaoranfangirl' or something

don't know if it's possible, it's just a suggestion :sweatdrop:

IT is possible, but that would be lots of groups in that area. I did that on the other fourm, but the group area where you mange levels, where it became big. But it was fun

But also, if it does happen, the group area, in the manage area, will become big. If there is a group for each area. Then it will be big, and I don't know if Little Wolf, or SLi will like that. But if its just one level. Then I think its good.

But its just me  :sweatdrop:

Agreed, it makes the administration area too cluttered, and I doubt the admins want to have to deal with such a trivial matter. Signature image awards no larger than 100 pixels in both width and height are more appropriate...

We have those, the ones who do funny speeches about the awards and presents the winner of that award.

Yeah... I could be one ^^

I can volunteer to do that too ^_^ But it's still unsure because of my schedule in school but hopefully, I can make those :D

Quick Edit: We should defiinitely talk this over on an IRC to hasten the finalizations of this project. Of course, we must set a time limit for each session. This is just a suggestion.

hoeeee..... this is so cool.... We'll need a good date to launch the event though.... As in a date that could be special for all of us... Like say... Syaoran's birthday or better, the day CWF opened to the public... ^^

That already passed...as did the anniversary of CCS coming out. Fine tune everything and let's get this going. Best of luck with it and hopefully it'll go over very well.
Title: Re: CWF members survey

Arcademan - It still needs more fine tuning.

Shu~Rei - Hmm... How am I going to fit all of them in the awards? There's got to be a way.

I'll present awards in the fan-stuff category.

And "Most Ambitious CardCaptors Conspirator" can also mean = "Biggest CardCaptors hater", but I just wanted to make it colorful. The people who show their hatred for the dub most are nominated for this award.

So the final list of awards is...

Forum Behavior Awards

Fan Awards

Heero ~ Here's the thing... (maybe O.o) The symbolism that Sena-san's talking about is somewhat referring to the graphics to be placed on the award.

Ex:
Greatest TRC Syaoran x Sakura Supporter - Can be represented by a picture of Syaoran together with Sakura then the text of the award is attached to the graphic.

Uhh.. Did I point it out right, Sena-san? =/

maybe we should have a little rules( just a little..don't want to make this complicated :])

the rules we had for the YnH awards were:

- don't nominate yourself for a category/award
- you can only vote till the deathline has been reached

these rules worked perfect with the YnH awards

Title: Re: CWF members survey
Post by: moezychan on July 22 2006, 12:27 am
Choose between these two:
1.1 vote per person on a category per day.....
(that's how they vote an athlete to the all-star game...)
ex.You voted on best poet today....therefore you cannot vote again on that category 'til
     tomorrow.

2.Once a user votes on a category.....they cannot vote on that category again......
(to avoid repeatitive voting of the same person by a single person....)

That's a very good suggestion, but let me add something. It would take a whole month to vote if we had to do one category per day, so let's up it to at least 5 categories per day. That way we have time to think about it, and not be completely overwhelmed. If you can't decide on which person to vote for for a specific category, then you can skip that one, but there has to be a limit of the ones that you skip.
Title: Re: CWF members survey
Post by: Hack on July 22 2006, 05:54 am
maybe we'll have each category for month or week then make a topic....people could discuss about who to vote and  nominate , then once we have our nominates, we could make a poll. then presenters could present it with the graph awards that the makers made

Once we pick up the correct rules, someone has to summarize it all up for les confusion

I agree with all above. It's the system we implemented.

Anyway, I'll refine the rules and post it here before I start the topic.

I'll let you guys decide the final ruleset discussed above before I post mine.

The graphics for the Awards can begin right now. We use simple namebars to add in the graphics for the winners.

Basic Rules (As suggested)

1.A user has the option to vote on all categories once per day.

2.A user can vote on all categories only once.

3. A user cannot nominate him/herself on any Award.

4. Users may choose not to vote on all awards.

5. 5-7 Categories are posted each week, those Categoies end voting by the follwing week (Voting Time: 7 Days)

6. A Topic for discussion about each award for nomination and discussion. After the nominations are finalized, the poll version of the topic will be up.

7. 5-7 Members are nominated for each award (the number changes if the award is more general or more specific).

I think a poll might be easier. It would be easy to keep track instead of counting all the votes. We could all nominate first by PM, and then create the polls when the results are done.

Okay, let's iron this one out. Anyone likes to do that system of nomination? (PM type)
Title: Re: CWF members survey
Post by: Arcademan on July 23 2006, 08:58 am
Nominations via PM might not be a bad idea...makes it more of a surprise to those who actually get nominated. One big drawback of course is to keep the PM clear so that the nominations actually get through.

Once the nominations are taken care of, then a secret poll can be done and then we'll see who wins the awards.

Please remind everyone (actually I could do this as well) that this is all for fun and it's by all means not a competition. It's not the end of the world or an insult by others if you're not nomination or if you win. It's all tongue-in-cheek.

Void where prohibited by law. No ballot stuffing permitted and Arcademan has made himself not eligible for any awards or prizes.

If we're worried about the PM box getting full, we could always have a moderator, like yourself, receive the votes. I remember SLi saying that all mods and admins have unlimited space in their PM box. That's entirely up to the mod and admin staff though. This is merely a suggestion.

Here's an idea. We all have our choice of who to nominate, with the exception of ourselves, PM them to whoever will receive the messages, and have a top 5-10 selection. For example, 20 people are nominated. Whichever have the most, will be in the top 5-10. Then we'll begin the polls.

Cool with me...but what if there are no or a few common nominates?

if there are no nominates, the award will be skipped
if there are few nominates, we'll just have to work with it <<;;

but we'll have to make topic saying we'll begin the award nomiates, so to PM ______ and tell____ who you want to vote first (_____<--meaning the person who will be getting the nominates) then we could start the poll

1.A user has the option to vote on all categories once per day.

2.A user can vote on all categories only once.
Am I the only one who thinks these conflict and don't make sense? Shouldn't it be one vote per user per category only? And with the way the forum poll system works unless someone is counting votes and restarting the poll every day I don't see how it would work otherwise, anyway. And 'once per day' would only favor the voters who come here every day. o_O;

As with Heero said, rules 1 and 2 are conflicting and only one will be implemented. No decisions yet on which will be used though so I wait.

I like .hack's idea, members PM a particualr member to give their nominations to, then from that list choose 5-7 from them.

either a mod or somebody who doesn't get PMs much...

PM Type or Board Topic type for Nominations?
Title: Re: CWF members survey
Post by: ~Emethyst~ on July 24 2006, 06:00 pm
I think I'd go with PM-ing mainly because the candidates wouldn't be aware that they were nominated and causes more excitement than seeing the candidates on board

A moderator....why not an administrator.......

Truthfully......the board thing sounds better to me........

The administrators have other things to worry about than getting involved in this.

If the PM system is going to be done, I guess I can do it. All I need to do is find a way to squeeze another hour or two in a 24 hour day

Arcademan - Well it does need someone who can stick around for at least 12 hours.

If the PM system stays, how about multiple users sharing the workload?

I kinda like the annonymity it brings.

we could divide the presenters into 3 categories, like : these __(<---# of certain presenters)can get votes  for this
certain category...does that make sense?

for no file sharing, i don't get it

Just dropping by to see the progress of this project... Not much to fix now... -o-

Anyways, I'm just here to inform that I'm official not one of the presenters even if I came back on tme due to some instances in the real world (problems and exams actually)

But on being a Graphic Award Maker, I'm still on the track so people, don't remove me yet!!! >.< I beg of you. Please just inform me through PM if the graphics are already needed.

I may not be here when the event launches off but I hope it would be grand :) Til then, hope you guys enjoy what you do here, as I have.

Really, I think my absence in this event wouldn't be much of nuisance to you guys so continue on without me... :)

Post by: Takeru on July 31 2006, 04:35 am
Already I'm having a few qualms. Not about the project itself, but in the method it's being executed.

First of all, the award symbols. I'm not sure how many of them make sense. Some of them do (like how Kero would be related to the Most Comedic Member award), but not all of them (like Emerald and what that has to do with Staff Member of the Year).

Here's an example. I think only Yanagisawa Naoko should be chosen as the award symbol for Best CCS Fanfiction Writer, since she is an avid reader and even attempts to write her own story in one episode. A picture of her from that particular episode (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/d3/CCS_Naoko01.jpg) would be a nice award graphic that fits the situation. Another example is the Admin's Pet award, which is very similar to the Teacher's Pet award at school. In that context, it would be suitable to have a picture of Sasaki Rika giving her teacher the teddy bear, wouldn't it?

The second problem: we're not sure exactly what the awards look like, so whoever's making the awards, raise your hand and sample us some of your work. They can't be used unless we all agree to it, and I don't think I've seen a single award picture on here as of today. Everyone who volunteered just kinda... did it without showing us a sample of their ability, so we have no idea what to expect. Also, I think I've heard over time that there's more than one person doing the award graphics. Since all of the awards have to look similar so everyone can recognize what source they're related to, they need to have a standard style in which they are created. Having two or more artists working on the same project will obliterate any possibility of a standard.

Back to the symbol suggestions thing, just click on the spoiler tag to see what I think. The ones that say "no idea" can be substituted with the ones already in use, since it's hard to think of anyone else either way. ^^;

LIST OF SYMBOL SUGGESTIONS

Forum Behavior Awards
  • Member of the Year
I'm not absolutely sure who can symbolize this, so we'll just stick to a generic Syaoran x Sakura picture from either show.
  • Staff Member of the Year
Matsumoto Maki, the owner of Twin Bells, is good to symbolize this. She staffs and manages her own gift shop.
  • Administrator of the Year
I say Clow Reed, since he's leader and creator of things we can never do without (Clow Kingdom, the Clow Cards, Sakura and her family, Kero and Yue, DO YOU GET IT NOW?) and in that sense, the administrators are the creators of something we can't do without: CapturedWings.net.
  • Spammer of the Year
Someone who talks a lot of useless will work. Our best choice is obviously Yamazaki Takashi, the poster child of endless lies!!
  • Most Helpful Poster
Someone who speaks only wisdom and truth. Yue or Fai D. Flowright works fine.
  • Best Contributor
Someone creative and helpful; I think Kaho Mizuki fits the bill.
  • Most Informative Long Poster
Well... teachers are long and informative, right? How about Yoshiyuki Terada-sensei?
  • Best Media Contributor
Should be symbolized by someone who is helpful through their actions. Sounds like an Ichihara Yuko to me.
  • Most Comedic Member
Should be symbolized by comedic relief. Kero and Suppi work fine, although the two Mokonas are as suitable.
  • Admin's Pet
Should be symbolized by Sasaki Rika, who looks up to her teacher with utmost respect and affection.

Fan Awards
  • Biggest Tsubasa Chronicle Fan
Syaoran and Sakura from TRC should symbolize this award.
  • Biggest Card Captor Sakura Fan
Again, Syaoran and Sakura, except in their CCS form. This picture (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v59/yamamoto114/sakura-y-syaoran.jpg) might work. =)
  • Most Ambitious CardCaptors Doomsday Conspirator
I see the cat from Azumanga Daioh. But I think Li Meilin works wonderfully, because of her outspoken desire to keep things from changing (preferably her relationship with Syaoran).
  • Wildest TRC Syaoran Fangirl
Syaoran looking awesome/attractive/cute would do nicely.
  • Wildest CCS Sakura Fanboy
Sakura looking awesome/attractive/cute would also do nicely.
  • Greatest TRC Syaoran x Sakura Supporter
Syaoran and Sakura symbolize this, of course. I think the best picture would be the one from the Future Soundscape II soundtrack, where Syaoran is leaning over Sakura's sleeping form.
  • Greatest TRC Kuro x Fai Supporter
Kurogane and Fai symbolize this. I think a picture of Kurogane yelling at Fai would work perfectly.
  • Greatest CCS Syaoran x Sakura Supporter
I'm imagining Syaoran and Sakura doing the pinky swear in episode 67. Can you say "omg KAWAII"?

Creativity and Skill Awards
Now this is where it gets iffy, since a lot of these have an extremely narrow focus.

  • Best Artist (Overall)
