I think I heard quite a good explanation on that from a friend of mine. It's a shame I can't remember all of it, I think she said it was something along the lines that it was because it's unrequited love at the time it crushes your heart not knowing if they like you or not and the possibility that they might not like you back is crushing. How was that for an explanation?
