You can list your top 3 if you can't choose... :confused2:
I think Grave of the Fireflies is the saddest movie EVER!!! :sad5:  :sad10: :sad11: It was good though... :noteworthy:
-
hmm... Fruits Basket at the end.
-
hmm... Fruits Basket at the end.
Aww, Really?
Pita-Ten had a bittersweet ending...
-
bah. i havn't seen the last 6 episodes of fruits basket >.>
dun spoil it for me ;_; put it in a spoiler if you write anything about the ending
-
Well... *evil grin* okies, no spoilers. It is really sad though.. i was discussing it with my best friend and some of it breaks you down in a way...
still, lips are sealed *zip*
yeah, i know about pita ten, i got some manga ^^ isn't it that shia dies... poor shia.. *cries*
-
I agree with Razeasha-san. the movie was so sad T-T
-
* still crying *
-
*pats Espo-san's head*
-
* stops crying *
Fruits Basket... so saaaaaaaadddddddd........
*er hem*
All better now!
-
Yeah..those were all so sad but in my opinion the saddest is Chrno Crusade. The way they ended the anime series was so sad. BOTH the main characters die and they leave the Chrno Crusade fandom with questions unanswered from the series. Really sad... x3
-
most confusing would be evangelion... they left like... a billion questions
-
Yeah, I remember watching it. I STILL have unanswered questions from it too. lol
-
Anime:
Marmalade Boy(Sad moments between Miki and Yuu XD)
Fruits Basket(Definitely T_T)
Anime Movie:
Hoshi No Koe(Very sad T_T)
-
I so remember those times/moments...[weeps in corner]
I'm in love with Chrno Crusade right now though and recommend you see it. It may not be much in the beginning but in the end, its totally sad. What sucks is that both the main characters die...they were in love with each other too. :cry Ugh...I'm remembering the last episode now...XP
-
Well at least they died loving each other T_T
-
Yes...I know. e-e; They were holding hands too before they took their last moments of breath before they died in each others arms. XP
-
For me, it was Aishiteru ze Baby (it wasn't really sad but happy/sad) and Prince of Tennis (I felt it was undone -_-; ).
I also enjoyed tactics, now that was really sad T.T I cried a lot.
-
Fruits basket. Almost every char in the manga has his/her sad past.
-
Fruits Basket. I don't know, if I try to explain I might suddenly start bawling.
-
does the anime/manga/movie i choose have an end? like i wanna choose naruto but its definately still running~ :P
actually, i dont feel that fruit basket was sad when it ended, rather, i felt relieve & hopeful that 1 day this bad dream of theirs will be lifted~~really~!!
-
Fruit Basket was not sad at the end <.<;
I'm with Tune I felt relieved and hopeful :)
Well for me I'll say The Rose of Versailles
Spoiler: Because Andre dies as well as Oscar :(
-

sorry but here's teh proper way:
you write spoilers like this Show content
See ^_^
See ^_^
-
I say furuba is sad... well, not precisely at the end, its just when some characters you never expect to see cry... it... tears you apart... *weeps again*
-
The saddest.. well, I dunno, but here's some that made me cry...
Fruits basket of course... not specially at the end (the end was happy ^o^) but because of all those chapters with tension and regrets and... T_T ahhhh
Cyborg 009, have you seen it? I creid at SO MANY chapters.... T-T it made my heart broke more than once... so profound...
Rurouni Kenshin has also made me cry at times... T-T
"Remembrances (sp?) of the past " was so so so sad... and the first ova too... T-T
-
Grave Of The Fireflies was sad...but I didn't really like it. I think Fruits Basket can be quite sad at times...but Spirited Away, at the end when she leaves Haku behind....
That made me cry!
-
Let's see...
I have to vote for V Gundam, honestly. I mean, any series where you can go from having countless heroes to being able to count the surviving main characters on one hand is horribly sad.
But there were quite a few heroic/awesome deaths in there. Like the one dude who kamikaze'd into the mobile armor in the core fighter, he was hardcore.
-
Ummm well I don't have "sad animes", more like "sad moments in anime" actually, like in Sailor Moon when Neflyte died, it was sad. In Rurouni Kenshin when Kenshin left Kaoru to go after Shishio, Oh and when Yumi died (I cried in that moment), when they revealed the story of Soujiro's childhood; in MKR when Zagato was killed; in Candy Candy when she and Terry didn't end together (why??? you see, this is why the italians had to make their own continuation to get those two together!!). Any sad moment in Ceres, there are too many... but probably the one I will remember most is Yumi's death in TK, yeah...
-
For me the saddest anime is Chrno Crusade... so sad... why did they have to die~ wah~
Show content
Rosette was sorta possessed by Aion or was she manipulated... anywayz! If Chrno was so dear to her, why didn't she snap out of it before?? (during the church part)
I find the manga WAY~ better! :D
Saddest manga... well... Fruits Basket... Show content
things are getting more angstier espescially in the latest chappies... ryt now is the Kyoru angst
-
I can't list 3..but I have one! Fruit Baskets!!
-
Voices of a Distant Star..
-
Um...Fruba...that makes me cry SO MUCH!!!T
Pita ten...the ending was happy, but sad at the same time!!! :sad5:
And naruto...well...at the begining at least... :XD:
-
I haven't seen that many anime/manga movies and tv shows but I would have to say that out of the ones I've seen Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke were the saddest. :sad5:I cried a little at the end of Spirited Away, but after watching both movies they kind of leave a sinking feeling in your stomach. :(
-
Um...Fruba...that makes me cry SO MUCH!!!T
Pita ten...the ending was happy, but sad at the same time!!! :sad5:
And naruto...well...at the begining at least... :XD:
Eh? Naruto?!
-
lol...just the begining...:XD: he was lonely!!that was the only sad part!!! :heh:
-
Oh right! I was going to say, I tohught this was quite an upbeat anime....although I suppose its sad when Sasuke flashes back to his family being killed, or when Naruto just can't belive that Sasuke has betrayed Konoha for power....
Actually, most of the sad bits in Naruto are based around Sasuke...LOL
-
Figure 17 was the saddest anime I've ever seen, but no one seems to have heard of that one whenever I ask about it so I dunno if anyone can commiserate with me on that one... Saikano is also sad, but that's one of those 'start out sad and just get worse so why don't you just shoot yourself in the head rather than burn yourself out emotionally by watching this' animes just like Grave of the Fireflies.
Then I watched AIR, and I cried really, really hard. I dunno if anything's ever going to beat that.
Fullmetal Alchemist actually came close, but there was so much hope mixed in with the sadness of the ending that it ended up a perfect bittersweet that just topped off the absolutely wonderful series.
-

you know, thats kinda true now that I think of it...:sweatdrop:
-
Another one for Fruits Basket. One of the reasons its so popular is because...its so meaningful and sweet, and the anime did make me cry. Hell, it made my older SISTER cry, and she doesn't watch anime. She watched the Momiji episodes, and literally cried *me having red eyes*. I'm like...DUDE...are you okay? Then she suddenly said she started liking Fruits Basket ._.
Spirited Away, too. I don't think I did cried really, but I'm sure it was pretty close.
Also, I've never watched it (but would like to) Pita Ten and Full Moon wo Sagashite. I've heard its pretty sad.
-
I thought Saikano was so sad. The art sucked major, but in terms of storyline, it was so depressing. But it wasn't like a surprise sad ending, things just went worse, and worse...
I also thought AIR was sad too. It's one of the saddest animes ever, and I never really understood it. Also, Full Moon wo Sagashite was sad too. Especially the ending. I nearly cried.
I'm a sucker for angst animes, so yeah, I love sad endings, except I usually expect them, rather than being surprised by them.
-
i agree AIR is a really sad anime.. but it's also really complicated.. haha
another sad anime is kimi go nozomu eien.. that was a truely sad anime.. but the ending isn't sad.. but then middle and basically the whole story was really sad.. i cried through some scenes.. *sniff sniff
-
I never heard of that anime before, lol, you got me intrested. *goes hunting*
Air is really sad though, and there's going to be a second season too, AIR in Summer, ^^
-
really?? i thought it was just a special.. hmm maybe it's wrong..
another sad anime that i JUST finished watching is called uta-kata.. same lenght as AIR.. 12 episodes.. i cried at the end..
why are all short animes sad now.. WAH!!! i also heard FMA is sad at the end.. haha i'm not sure yet.. but i got the full set dvd so i'll find out soon.. hehe.. NO SPOILERS unless in tags.. please..
-
I never watched FMA yet, like the first ep though. It looked so cool, but I didn't bother watching more. I'm going anime shopping on Saturday though, need some manga to keep me pre-occupied. And maybe Newtype magazines ^^
-
i'm not sure if FMA has a sad ending or not but from what my friend says.. it is..
i also read a little intro for the movie and i think i know how the ending might go.. yup yup.. XD and it's pretty sad i think..
-
Yeah, FMA I think will be sad, not sure ^^
But my all time saddest anime is Saikano, that one was just, so sad *sobs*
-
saikano?? never heard of it.. haha sorry i'll look it up.. right now all the short anime that i watch are all so sad.. *sniff sniff.. i don't like crying for animes.. AH!!! haha
-
Saikano is about this girl who is sick all the time, and she gets a boyfriend, and when they just start dating, a war breaks out and the girl, is a weapon for the army, with missles and everything in the body. It's really sad though, it made me cry so much, since the first ep. You really should watch it if you like really sad animes though ^^
-
maybe i'll give it a try.. haha.. watch me run out of tears after it's over.. lol.. but the sounds really sad though.. *sigh.. but then sad anime are really good anime too i mean like AIR was really good and so was uta-kata.. hehe
-
so spirited away. of course. who wouldnt cry? thats just me as well though. lol.
princess tutu. you guys of course havent heard of this ;_;. its not licenced. i fink its sad caz the main character doesnt get to be the person she loves... watch it somehow. but i doubt ull find it on the net really. i watched it in canto on TV.
-
I watched Princess Tutu *sniffs*
That was sad, in the ending though, I loved the bgm in that show ^^
-
princess tutu.. another anime i should watch.. hmm never heard of it..
you know mai-hime is pretty sad.. when in some episodes the ending is really happy.. in episode i think 24 it's really sad in the ending of that episode.. my friend cried... i couldn't even though it was super sad.. i can't cry for ANYTHING now.. haha although i cried for uta-kata..
-
Believe it or not, for me One Piece in the Arlong Arc, Nami´s story is so sad ;__;
Also Grave of the Fireflies, it has to be one of the saddest movies I´ve ever seen along with Dancer in the Dark.
-
yea i never liked grave of the fireflies because it was TOO sad for me.. and i didn't get the whole story.. it's really touching though..
the relationship between the brother and sister is so strong.. i wish i was like that with my brothers.. *sigh
-
grave of the fire flies... *chills* it gave me nightmares... i dont know why...
-
Full Moon wo Sagashite's ending... it made me cry at first but then...
-
Grave of the Fireflies...it was sad, but I never really got into the story. Maybe because it was in Japanese with subtitles?
-
Chrno Crusade, despite the mediocre filler episodes they decided to place in the middle of the series, the ending was very sad and well done.
Most confusing is definitely Evangelion, still cant seem to understand it for the life of me. :violent1:
-
Evanglion and AIR are like the hardest to understand, you have to re-watch all the episodes in order to understand! I watched the series twice for Evanglion, and I still don't get it >.<
Nami's story is really sad, I always wondered why she hated pirates so much, guess it was because of that! I didn't cry, but I felt really bad for her. And Grave of the Fireflies was just sad! I seriously sobbed. It's a really old movie though ^^
-
i can truely say now that full metal alchemist's ending is sad.. it's not as sad as like AIR or anything.. but still sad..
AIR was confusing.. but i got it.. umm sort of.. i don't know why but i just get this kind of stuff.. really good at understand deep story lines. XD
rave master is a bit sad.. well in the manga.. i mean like when elie 'gets killed'.. umm yea i'll leave it at that.. don't want to really spoiled it.. well i'm not sure because i just started reading it and i'm reading randomly.. i read the 3-7 and jumped to 9.. haha and there's like 30 something volumes.. but i thought that part was sad..
flower of the deep sleep is a pretty sad and confusing manga.. hehe.. it's not really that sad.. but the whole story makes you a bit emotional.. XD hehe.. and the story line is so deep.. that i hardly got it... i was like reading the last book which was the 2nd one like 5 times.. and i still don't get it.. O.O HAHA!!
-
Did somebody mention Grave of the Fireflies?
-
if your read the posts above the one before yours.. you'll see a bunch of posts on grave of the fireflies..
tsubasa's episode this week was pretty sad.. well all in all tsubasa is a pretty sad anime.. well if you know how to look at it. i mean like sakura forgetting about the one she loves.. how can that not be sad.. AH!!! and then syaoran having to just face these facts.. and he'll never know that she loved him before.. oh man that's just truely sad.. *sniff sniff
-
HAI??!! furuba has ended????????
-
HAI??!! furuba has ended????????
Furuba the anime has ended (the manga is still going on, right?)
But yeah, I agree that Furuba is one of the saddest (if not THE saddest) anime I've ever seen.... It still makes me cry every time!!! *sobs*

I agree with you!! No matter how many times I watch it, its still makes me wanna cry...

oh~! now i get it....N yup, da manga is still goin on, soooo sad...T__T
-
I haven't cried at Furuba anime yet....but the plots involving Yuki's 'crushed' spirit are realy sad, I agree.
-
I agree too, but it takes alot to make me cry, so its rare when an anime makes me sad ^^
-
Top three saddest animes
1st: TRC - Sakura will never remember growing up with Sayoran
2nd: Chrono Crusade - Show content
Almost all of the main characters die, and Aion just walks away.
3rd: Fullmetal Alchemist - Show content
Everyone lost so much, and nobody really benefited from it.
-
Well, I'd have to say, Full Moon wo sagshite is one of the, if not, THE ONLY Anime I've watched so far that has made me cry while watching it. I got so sad while watching the last few episodes.
-
I always thought the movie, Grave of The Fireflies was very sad. The saddest anime movie I've seen.
-
Fullmetal Alchemist, Fruits Basket and Fushigi Yugi always make me cry when I watch them. :sad10:
-
Since Hideo Kojima is a revolutionary anime director, I consider his Metal Gear Solid game series anime, so I would definately say that the whole Metal Gear series is really tearjerking.
Other than that, I'd say TRC is pretty sad so far, but it depends on the ending.
-
Evangelion had a confuse ending
but all the characters had a really sad past
Shinji:
her mother died and his father abandoned him, he was confuse thinking that no ones loved him, he didn't know why he was the pilot of the evangelion.
Rei:
she had no feelings, she was only a clon or something like that, she didn't know what she was. she was used to create the destruction of the world.
Asuka:
her mother kill herself, and she saw her death body (but i really didn't like asuka)
Misato:
Her father died to protect her. she was the only survivor of the impact. his boyfriend died
the point that this serie has many sad moments. :(
-
I haven't read this whole thread, but tell me SOMEONE has said X or Tokyo Babylon? Come ON, it doesn't GET much sadder than that! Pretty much everyone Kamui knows dies or molests him and Tokyo Babylon is the shounen-ai Romeo and Juliet! *melodramatic voice* "For there never was a story of more woe, than that of Subaru.. and his Seishirou..." *sniff* It's beautiful... And what about Azumanga Daioh?! Huh? Poor Osaka lost her shoe to a truck! (I'm just kidding about that, people...)
-
Evangelion wasnt really confusing... some people just had a hard time understanding what the heck its about! haha! I always get asked questions about it when i suddenly start talking (mainly babbling. lol) about it on forums since they dont really get it (but only moments like... was Rei really a clone?). -_-
a sad anime that's made me cry so far was Fruits Basket. thats about it. o.o"
-
Everyone keeps on saying Fruits Basket was sad... What the heck happened? *doesn't read Fruits Basket and always thought it was just a random happy shoujo manga*
-
I catagorize it Comedy/Drama. Most (if not all) characters have sad or depressing lives in the anime. The comedy is just there for enlightment. lol. I wont comment on the manga seeing as I've YET to read it! :keke:
-
Everyone says Fruits Basket is sad... I don't...
A. Everyone has a sad past, but Tohru is definitely gonna bring the family a brighter future.
B. The anime ended with everyone still living together.
Yes, I agree with Akai Yuki, X and Tokyo Babylon are few of the saddest anime/manga. People suffer in Fruits Basket, but they are still alive, they have a chance to turn it around.
Sorata lost his chance to develop his relationship with Arashi just when it was about to begin; Kakyou is never gonna wake up because Hokuto's not coming back; Kamui will always be a beaten- up dog because the girl he likes turns into french fries (chop, chop chop); worst of all, Subaru is going to live all alone since Hokuto is dead and now Seishirou, too (presumeably in hell for him).
People in X/Tokyo Babylon died, and they are not coming back, yet their existence is what the surviving characters need to fill in the void in their souls. Unlike Fruits Basket w/ Tohru around, nothing in X/Tokyo Babylon can help repair the damages being done.
Well... unless the author of Fruits Basket decides to hit the characters where it hurts, cut off their sole spiritual comfort- kill off Tohru at the end... NO, NO, NO, She would not dare... :shifty:
Oh, btw, There's another sad CLAMP- RG Veda. Very much like X, Ryu-chan is the first, kinda unexpected... not only that almost 99% of the characters were killed (brutally, I might add), not a lot of god races are left. Either they end up like Yasha, Souma, and Asura, losing everyone but the lords, or like Kendappa, Naga, and Karura, there are still people, but they have no leaders. Six stars overthrew Taishakuten, but the whole world is a mess even until the end...
-
fullmetal alchemist.
rurouni kenshin
and naruto............fullmetal alchemist is sad cause of hugh's dieing. kenshin. his wife tomoe dies because he killed her. and he thought he let his step brother kill karou. he chained his sword so he can never use it again. naruto. everybody hat'e naruto and gaara. sasuke has no family. the 3rd hokage dies because he was sealing orochimaru's hands. and haku dies to protect zabuza
-
The middle of Full Moon o Sagashite
Show content
The ending was bad, it was too happy I mean I can accept Mitsuki living JUST, but bringing back Takuto and his voice was way too much, saddest part was when you find out that eichi died years ago and Mitsuki wants to do so she can be with him again
Fruits basket was sad but hasnt ended yet.
Its very sad how terrible Bleach got, does that count?

Kaze to Ki no Uta. Never in my life will I EVER see anything half as sad as that. It's awful, and I cried for two weeks. TWO WEEKS. It was SO sad, my heart ached and I felt nauseus after I saw it/read it for the first time. Even now when I read/watch it, I get a tingly sad feeling in my stomach and chest! >_<
Stay away from it!!
Do you concur, my dear sister-in-law? *pokes Jeannette*
-
Eh? What did you say, dear sister-in-law? Kaze to Ki... KYAAA... T_T *runs away crying like a baby*
But so far, yeah, Kaze to Ki no Uta is the saddest anime/manga I've ever seen... well, that, and as has already been said, X and Tokyo Babylon. The X TV anime was VERY sad, if not anywhere near as powerful as the manga, and I'm sure whenever CLAMP finishes the X manga it will make me bawl like a baby too. So I'll put it on my list pre-emptively.
And just so it's out in the open, I HATED the X movie. Nothing against you, Smile_For_Me, but I just can't stand it. It's the one anime of CLAMP I will never buy. Yeah, the ending was sad, but it was about the only semi-worthwhile thing in the whole pile of droppings. And IT was ruined by the fact that it was so anticlimactic. I've seriously had people tell me they LAUGHED at the ending, it was so anticlimactic and bad. </off-topic rant>
-
Yeah, but seeing it for the first time, Only knowing what TB was then comes along X the Movie with Subaru in it and he died...I was really sad, then I grew to like Kamui, Kotori and Fumma then the sad ending, I just like to think as the movie as another world TRC has yet to cross in, if it wasn't for the movie, that water guy would have never been born, pluse I saw the movie when I was what, 14?
Then there was wolf's rain, now I cryed
-
Full Metal Alchemist
Fushigi Yuugi
can't remember the others :sweatdrop:
-
For me: Candy Candy and Grave of Fireflies.
Well, maybe it's not a sad ending for Candy...
At least she finally met Uncle William and her first love.
But Candy Candy do have many sad times and I cried quite a lot...
-
anybody care to note me in on what Kaze to Ki no Uta is?
Is it a manga or anime or what? I wanna see why you two seem to find it so sad.
*curious*
-
Kaze to Ki no Uta is a tragic old-school shounen-ai; it was one of the first, if not the first, shounen-ai. It tells the story of boarding school roommates Serge and Gilbert. Gilbert has a lot of emotional issues and is a very messed up person, and the story is basically Serge befriending and then falling in love with Gilbert and attempting to help him. There are 17 volumes in the manga and an OVA.

sounds good, Thanks for the info Jeannette :D
I'll have a look about for it then *adds it to his list of mangas to read/animes to watch*
although the Shounen-Ai within a Boarding School sounds really familiar, I might of seen a few images of it already.. or maybe the boarding school Idea just got popular.. hm.
-
furuba is the saddest anime/manga i've seen and read, it's the only series that made me cry.
-
Saddest anime
Graves of Firefly - i can't stand watching that anime in one sitting.
Manga...
i am kinda picky in manga, i often avoid bad ending.
-
fruits basket anime was really sad, so is the manga, but i cry more in the anime TT_TT
-
Oh yeah! Furuba! how can i forget that darn anime? especially the part where
Show content
Hattori was forced to erase Kanna's memories

I dont know yet??? :rotfl: :dodge:
-
hmmm...saddest Anime : Wolfs Rain...the end.. or Ayashi no Ceres
saddest Manga : I think Zetsuai...
-
What? the anime version of Marmalade Boy is sad? BUt the manga version it's happy right? I thought that they turned out not to be siblings and they ended up together. So how did the anime go??
-
Hmm...Saddest ever, you say?
Anime: Cowboy Bebop, Fullmetal Alchemist (I think I cried over the last fifteen episodes), Wolf's Rain
Manga: Bleach (so many sad character histories... ), Tokyo Babylon and the parts where Subaru's story crosses over into X -- not that X doesn't have more than its fair share of sad moments, but those ones in particular get to me since there's an entire series behind them, and Land of the Blindfolded (Again with sad character histories...)
-
Air was a pretty sad anime, even though I never completely got it... It really got me crying. I wanted to re-watch it so see if I'd understand more of it the 2nd time but I never did. ^^;
I've also heard a lot about FMA having a sad ending, but I haven't seen it yet. And Full Moon Wo Sagashite had a nice ending, but it was still sad...
As for manga's, Pita-Ten had an awfully sad ending. It wasn't a bad ending, just really sad.
-
I have to agree with juny and anyone else who said Air was a sad anime. I couldn't stop crying for a long while in the anime... It's for the brave people
Show content
misuzu had her last dream after all
-
i think... Zettai Kareshi's ending was sad. FMA TV anime was really depressing too... OH! Mucha Kucha Daisuki was the saddest i cry every single time i read it... what the boy said at the end was so beautiful ^^
-
Ai no Kusabi!
I mean....Come on, I could've shot myself after that ending.
-
Midori days. midori goes back to her body but doesn't remember anything ever since she became seiji right hand
-
Fruits Basket has it's depressing moments, definately. I don't really consider the anime ending that sad, though. ^^;
For me the saddest anime of all time was... Kare Kano. Why!? Because it ended the way it did - or rather, the lack of an ending. It's one of my favorite series, but I really wish the anime had been able to continue. I just adore the ending of the manga, though. -resists the urge to post spoilers- XD
-
I agree with Razeasha-san. the movie was so sad T-T
My mother said she didn't like it, because it was too sad.
-
...I think Ayashi no Ceres was sad...and the movies of Rurouni Kenshin
-
Saddest anime hmm...
Id say the last ten episodes of Full moon wo sagashite i was practically crying the whole time
Air the whole anime was depressing
furuba/fruits basket I thought the manga was sadder then the anime the manga goes much deeper into the story
The last episode of Chrno Crusade ;_;
-
Hmmm...i just watched AIR and i think it was pretty sad =(
-
i started watching saiyuki and it's really really sad, they all have a really tragic past.
-
ai no kuzabi ;_;
*screw you..guy!!!*
-
For me its got to be Crono Crusade. It started out so funny and it was just so sad in the end! I
-
Why do so many people say Fruits Basket? Granted, Fruits Basket's ending was enough to make me cry, but saddest? Well, meh, here's some that made me cry:
AIR
Chrno Crusade
DNAngel
Elfen Lied
Full Moon wo Sagashite
Kannazuki no Miko
Kannon
Kimi ga Nozomu Eien
Ragnarok the Animation
Rurouni Kenshin OVAs
Saikano
Scrapped Princess
Wolf's Rain
I also thought AIR was sad too. It's one of the saddest animes ever, and I never really understood it. Also, Full Moon wo Sagashite was sad too. Especially the ending. I nearly cried.
You know, I completly agree, AIR made me cry really hard at the end, but maybe that was partly because I didn't understand it. When I composed myself a watched it again, I realized that the ending itself may not have been that sad, but to me it was like the last straw, the whole story was slightly depressing and maybe a bit touching, but not enough to make you cry, but the ending is so bittersweet and leaves you full of questions and further hopes for the character, it's like a dam breaking and I just cried, for a long time.

i would say elfen lied actually i don really like sad anime at first i watch elfen lied for the sake of the violence until i fin the whole show it started to make me like to watch sad anime especially the music after seeing so many ppl saying that fruit basket is a sad anime i think i will start watching it
-
The saddest anime I had ever watched:
Full moon wo sagashite, God, I cried like a baby, no anime has ever done that to me!
The saddest manga:
I have to say Pita-Ten, it was sooooooooo bittersweet, that I too cried like a baby. :hehe: Poor Kotarou-kun!
Tokyo Mew Mew, but mostly I got angry, not sad, :hehe: because Ichigo didn't end up with Ryou-kun.

I just finished Full Moon wo Sagashite. I can't believe what happened.

I also think Chrono Crusade is very sad.... the last episode.... snif snif...

Sad Anime
.....Anime: X the TV: Come on people that is so sad,
Sailor Moon: One of the best, the frist anime I cryed with,
Weiss Kruze OVA and Gluhen.......
Chrono Crusade
Fullmetal Alchemist
...i agree...sailor moon mad me so sad after i finished watching it...and even though everything worked...out...i couldn't shake the feeling of sudden loneliness..desolation....and empathy...and i felt like my heart was either going to break..or i would cry..until my lungs/eyes gave out.....
btw: *looks at comment* ^....i haven't seen too many complete anime series...so...my choice might not really be the saddest....
-
Word on Ai no Kusabi - I could have screamed my lungs out after watching that... I mean... gosh...
Tokyo Babylon was also one of those 'rip-your-hair-out-at-the-fact-that-you-couldn't change-anything'. X not so much... iit had a lot of sad moments, but it never reached the height of drama of Tokyo Babylon's end.
Then the Rurouni Kenshin OVAs... but those were more the 'silent-tears-running-down-my-cheeks' type - as opposed to the full-out bailing of, say, Elfen Lied.
Oh! And I almost forgot it... Boys Next Door, a one-shot that reduced me to a wibbly mess.

Air
I cried in every episode expect for 3.
Thats all I have to say.
-
The last eposide of CCS gave me an empathy attack. I couldnt stop crying :(
-
'Honey & Clover'
The second season was the angst galore. I love the series but on the other hand I'm happy it's over...
-
Fullmetal Alchemist, I haven't read the manga but, the anime is very bittersweet and the movie too.
-
Etoo.. Maybe Zettai Kareshi (Absolute Boyfriend)?
-
Zabuza and Haku.....Naruto
Wolf's Rain....The LAST 4 Epi's...
