Sorry if this seems rude to some people.... :heh:

But I'm just trying to get an idea of how old the people who come here are, on average. Please vote, as noone will know who you are anyway (and most people have put their ages in their profiles anyway)

Just thought this would be easier then checking up in people's profiles.....

Well, as poll maker, I'll vote first, so...I'm 15 at the moment!

Ooops! I didn't notice that! Well, as I can't change the categories without mucking up votes...please select the category nearest to ur age...

eg. 14-16 if you're below 16 and a half.
       16-18 if you're 16 and a half or above.

That make sense?

Ugh I can't wait to be 13 in July. It's driving me crazy the way my older causens treat me  sometimes :angry:. Please, they don't act there age there 14 or 15 they act like there 8 or 9.

I can drive at 16 [next year], too!
Err...the Learners Liscence anyways...have to have that for half a year, and then tape a stupid N on the back of my car who knows how many years...can't remember. But they increased it recently and you can only have one other person in your car now with your N.
Stupid new driving rules....all because some irresponsible people don't know how to stay sober while driving.
Ahh, frustrated me.
Opps...I rambled.
I always jump people on their birthday . . . if they turn 15 I torment them "You're half way to 30!"
I joke, but some of them take it the wrong way . . . err...

Arcademan would make an awesome dad though, lol, especially since you love anime, which is like the best! My dad doesn't know much about anime, except Inuyasha which he finds amusing for some odd reason.

Heh. You're making me blush. My two nieces, especially my youngest: both in their teens) love anime and manga and again, my youngest is also learning to draw manga style and learning Japanese. I'm proud of them :)

My mom calls me a big baby hehehehhe. I was my parents' first chilsd and the first grand child on my mother's side. lucky for me[grinz] I got spoiled rotten so this i think has resulted in me acting  like a baby at least around family.

I am an only child, lost among the vastness of cousins
Concluding that a lot of younger cousins (and me mom's friend's kids) call me big sister, and all the older cousins call me little sister.
 i act like a little kid whenever I am with my them.
as for being spoiled, a little ,but mom and dad don't believe in praise (unless $1 for a 100% on a test, not including spelling quizzes)

I'm not expecially spoiled...I mean, I'm not like, "Argh! I hate my parents because they won't buy me this!" and such. I do get the occasional special treatment but it's not like my parents will bend to my every beck and call. They have their limits and I'm gratefull for all they do.
Err . . . actually, more my mom, than my dad. I have other reasons for disliking him, haha.

thats exactly how it is here *sob* and we don't have enough money to pay for extra tv so me has no anime to watch >.>

i know, kids nowadays are getting more and more things. i mean the net was out when i was that age but it was waaay too much money.

I've been on the internet since I was about 9. But I only used it for school projects and I was only allowed about 2 hours a week (I would have died if that rule still applied haha).   Because, like VexNet said, it was way too much money. We had dial up connection and we couldn't tie up our precious phone line (my dads business line), so I never actually started becoming "Computer Literate" until I was about 13 when we got a faster connection (cable, whoo) and it got cheaper.
But I still find it crazy that kids are getting all this expensive electronic crap at a younger and younger age. I mean, I just saw a little girl, I'm guessing, in the third grade showing off her camera phone to her friends. Geez. The only thing electronic I had around me when I was in the third grade was my Sailor Moon light up Wand (man that was cool...It broke though.) I was still into my awesome doll house, playing with my brother's lego, and decapitating my Barbie dolls!
What happened? (coughcoughevilmarketers and advertisementcoughcough)

yea i know. i used to think my Gameboy was just awesome. now its just a fat huge brick that you can play games like that on pc for free now and get most the games better on something else for literally no money at all.

and i remmember old Sega megadrive (Genesis) Games were like £50, it was mad!

I had a Sega! It broke though, the power button wouldn't stay down. Whenever my brother wanted to play he'd make me hold the button down. Haha, I would let go just to watch him freak out.
And we had the old school Nintendo. But they were my brothers, and I was the typical girl then. But then, because I was one of the few girls in our neighbourhood, I slowly got pulled into my video-game, baggy pants, tomboy life! Muahhaha!

I'm one of the LUCKIER kids, eh heh... My mom has a tendancy to buy my anime/manga for me, unless I have money on me... Which I usually DON'T... Sometimes she buys the stuff for me, and I pay her back, but since I haven't done that in a while, my mom sometimes takes my money out of it's storage container.

STILL... Most of the people who I hang around that like anime or manga are usually older than me.

Well, it's been bad for me, anyways. And I've only been in highschool for one year! It's just as bad as middle school. Except now I've got loser's blasting their crappy music from their expensive car stereos which their rich daddies probably payed for (along with the ugly sports car. Too many of those here). I need to start bringing ear plugs to school.
I know some people that say that Highschool was the best time of their lives.  I don't know what drugs they were on to make it pleasant....but I sure as hell want some!
Who knows, maybe it will get better....
But I'm not holding my breath.

She was pissed because she actualy graduated from Highschool and my grandpa gave my uncle, who didn't graduate, the family business.
So he owns a branch of a multi-million dollar company, and my mom is stuck cleaning grubby toilets at a church.

And my Grade 5 teacher accused me of plagarism, saying nobody my age writes like that. Funny, she did the exact same thing with my older brother...am I seeing a pattern? Pssh, I wouldn't have been intimidated by her if 1) I wasn't 10 years old and 2) Her ring finger wasn't bent the wrong way. When you're 10 years old, that's scary stuff.

Elementary school sucked for me  nasty teachers clicky school  very small    they did'nt like newcomers  so i was all alone    except for when i hung out with the nerdy boys!  Rotfl

When i moved here middle school was slightly better larger school clicky but more accomodating  the girls were mean  (most of them anyways)  and Tons of homework

Highschool  is better teachers, less homework ,and the girls got their heads out of their butts 
(well most of them did but some shall be stuck forever that way i guess *sigh*) 
oh yeah boys just as dense as ever too!     I shall be a junior   when school starts  (11th grade)  people got nicer too.

im a little lost when you all speak about these schools because my country's school system is different.. we only have primary school (7 to 12 years old) and secondary school (13 to 16 years old)..

In Mesa, AZ where I grew up, our system was:
Elementary: K to 6th Grade
Middle (Junior High): 7th to 9th Grade
High School: 10th to 12th Grade

We also have community colleges and a major university in Arizona State.

We have:

Pre-school (I think the prep-year is replacing this, but I'm not sure)
Kindergarten to Year 6 (Primary School) - Note: Some states its K to 7)
6 or 7 (depending on the state) to Yr 12 - High School

Then we have TAFE and Universty - length of time is dependent on the course you are doing.

We have just introducted a prep-year now (on trial at the moment), as a stepping stone to primary school.

I just started school on Thursday. Oddly enough, my homeroom teacher was absent for Thursday and Friday because he was sick with the flu or something. I cannot understand my math teacher at all. She's pretty nice, but if you get her mad she's well yeah.... She says she hates arithmatic (like, long divsion and stuff like that) even though she's a math teacher. she's only gonna be teaching us algebra so I guess she's permitted to hate Arithmatic.

I'm about 12 now, and turning 13 in November.

Er, where I am, here is the system:

When you are 4 years old, you would be in JUNIOR Kindergarten.

When you are 5 years old, you would be in SENIOR Kindergarten.

6 yrs old: Grade 1 (NOT FIRST GRADE! I hate it when I go to the US and they ask me ((Since we go there for back-to-school shopping... argh)) what grade I go to. When I say Grade __ they always say, "oh, __GRADE? What the heck is  Grade __!?" It gets me really mad. It's practically the same thing ((I don't have anything against the US or the people there))

7 yrs old: Grade 2

8 yrs old: Grade 3

9 yrs old: Grade 4

10 yrs old: Grade 5

11 yrs old: Grade 6 (THE END OF ELEMENTARY/JUNIOR SCHOOL) Total of: 8 years.

And then...

12 yrs old: Grade 7

13 yrs old: Grade 8 (END OF MIDDLE SCHOOL) Total of: 2 years

14 yrs old: Grade 9

15 yrs old: Grade 10

16 yrs old: Grade 11

17 yrs old: Grade 12 (END OF HIGH SCHOOL) Total of: 4 years.

Then college/university.

And uh, my age shall remain a secret *smile* :) Let's put it this way: I am older than 9, younger than 25. :( Sorry, not much of a hint, huh? Okay, here. How about this? My age is whatever you want it to be :) I can be 3 years old if you want.

And school is starting up on the 6th... ohhh nooo... dang you school!!

Hmm...in Saanich School District, it's all pretty much the same as CherryandWolfLover's.
Age 3/4-4/5: Pre-school (You don't have to go for two years, but I did)
Elementary:
Age 5/6: Kindergarten, 6/7: Grade 1, 7/8: Gr. 2,  8/9: Gr. 3, 9/10: Gr. 4, 10/11: Gr. 5
Middle School:
Age 11/12: Grade 6, 12/13: Gr.7,  13/14: Gr.8
High School:
14/15: Gr.9, 15/16: Gr.10, 16/17: Gr.11, 17/18: Gr.12
And then, of course, University/Collage and such.
School starts on Sep. 7th, here. I'm not looking forward to that.

For my school system; and this also applies to what month you were born in; If you were born before August, you were sent back a year:

Preschool-4-5
Kindergarten-5-6
Grades 1-2 Stevenson School
Grades 3-5 Addison School
Grades 6-8 Junior High School (Middle School)
Grades 9-12 High School
And then college, where I'm at now and I'm going into my 4th year on Monday!

As for my age, I turned 22 in June!

I went to school up until my 3rd semester in my 9th grade year. They have 4 semesters or quarters and then my mom homeschooled me until I was 18 and usually graduation is in June, but I graduated in October. Mom held me back a year, but I studied hard and finally got caught up!

Don't feel bad. I'm 22 and people think that I'm 16. They'll ask me what grade I'm in and I'll tell them, "I'm a senior," then they'll say, "Oh then this is your last year of high school!" and I'll say, "I'm a senior in college!" It's annoying.

I may be young, and look even younger, but I feel like an 80 year old woman right now. I'm always tired, my knee is starting to go out on me, I fainted at work 2 days ago, and I'm losing my hearing. Just saying all that is making me feel old.

I also have this feeling that I'm older then my real age. But in my case, I feel it taking a look at my friends.... They are si imature! And you can see that the boys are always more imature then the girls on the same age. And that makes me to feel even older! It's so strange.....

I always act (as people say) and feel older than I really am. But I don't look THAT much older than my real age. Heck, there are people who look 5 years older than their age in my school. I sometimes look at some people in my school and wonder, "Hey... isn't she in grade 12? OR "Isn't she in University?" when they are only in grade nine! Haha.

You can get your permit at 15?!?!
Wow, I have to wait until February when I turn 16 so I can take the test to get my learners permit. Then I have to wait like . . .. 9 months (if I take Young Drivers. 1 year and so if I don't.) to take my road test to get my "N". Blah, this whole process is going to annoy the heck out of me!

Currently where I live you can get your permit at 15, but the law will soon change to 16- Permit  and 17-license
So I just want to get my learners as soon as possible o.o Yet I find being on the road kind of terrifying...=\

They could just say at any moment "Yar adult, if yar not happy with this and that then leave." Scary. I couldn't really take anything else than DVD player, manga and drawing stuff with me, lol.  Everything else is bought by parents :'D

The more  you are the more wisdom you hold in my opinion. Because the longer you live the more experiences you go through as a child, teenager, and throught adult hood. I deeply have respect for people who know how to keep things stable and in order. I dont really use anyones age so that why sometimes I forget my own birthday =P

40 is not so old.  My best friend just turned 40 and just had her first (and only) baby in January.

  Of course...I'm about to be 34 and I have a 10 yr old (almost 11), 9 year old, and 6 year old.    Age is relative!  :tongue:

Definitely.

  My oldest LOVES CCS, Yu Yu Hakusho and Inuyasha. She watches everything I let her though.  She has copies off all my fansubs for her own personal use. (I got tired of her not putting mine back!  *lol*)  She also reads all the manga.  I haven't set her loose on any boards yet, though.  I'm a little frightened at that thought.   :heh:

  My son likes YuGiOh, Pokemon, Naruto and the like.

  Emily-chan (her name is Emily...but somehow or another, the entire family started calling her Emily-chan or Emmy-chan), my youngest, is particularly fond of CCS and anything else cute.  Though if anime is on, she's watching it with us.  She gets mad at my fansubs though...she can't really read well yet.  She prefers dubbed.

Haha, Driver's Ed. Sad for me, since I could have my Novice liscense already (I could have gotten it in November) and I haven't even gotten my Learners yet. >_<;; I'm laaazy. And afraid I'll fail it...AGAIN!! And they just bumped up the rules so now I have to have my learners for like..2 years (one year if I take Young Drivers, which costs almost $900!! Ridiculous.) At this rate I won't have my N until I'm in my 20s!

The way gas prices are these days, maybe public transportation isn't that bad a thing. Not the greatest but no car means no gas, no insurance, and you'd deal less with the crazy wackos that drive around these days ;)

What bugs me though is that they're uping the rules on the kids because they're accusing US of being the crazy wackos on the road!
While, true, some of us are just plain stupid on the road, but it's not fair that the responsible kids get screwed in the end, as well! But I guess there's no way around it...

And hey! There are still crazy wackos on the bus, too! I've made quite a few encounters over the years, that have ranged from amusing, to downright creepy.
