Growing up, my mom was very strict when it came to anime. She wouldn't even let me watch Pokemon at the time. She was convinced that I would end up killing somebody by watching anime. In her opinion, it was too violent. As if I could suddenly call upon unnatural forces and shoot a fire beam at somebody. After I became an adult though, she couldn't do anything about it. She eventually stopped trying to control me because she knew she couldn't, and slowly I was able to convince her to like anime. She won't watch it, but she loves it when I talk to her in Japanese.
I really don't know what your parents are like Cherry-chan so I can't say that they'll grow into it like mine did, but hold it out and you won't be living with your parents forever. Just keep reminding yourself that. You have 5 more years before you become 18, and trust me, though it seems like a very long time from now, look at it in my perspective. It seems like yesterday that I applied for college, and I'm already in my 4th year. Time goes by fast.
Also, when times are tough, I just say my favorite saying from Card Captor Sakura, Nando Coladio Zettai Daijobou Daioh! (I'm sure something good will come from this! Everything will definitely be alright!) Remember that! It always works for me!

Luckly, my parents didn't mind that I had an interest in anime. My brother liked it and thats what got me interested and, they let him go to Japan for 12 months.
Although whenever I talk about it to my mom, I feel awkward.. and plus, I never like watching anime infront of my parents. I'm afraid if I did, they'd get upset about some of the contents and never let me watch it again ( even though I'm 18 now and I don't really watch anything dirty.. Kare Kano isn't really dirty compared to some other animes out there, for example. )
They let me buy anime stuff. They let me go to Sakura Con. ^_^
But I'm really sorry about your situation though, Cherry. That's tough. *Gives her a cookie, in hopes she'll feel better* <3
Cherry-chan:

That's how I feel with my mom. I'll tell her about it, but I don't show it to her. When I talk to her I leave out stuff like the yaoi/yuri content. I'm not really a big fan of yaoi/yuri, but I can tolerate it. Okaa-san cannot. If she saw that, I wouldn't be on this website right now.

Hehe my mom can't handle watching my anime. She always complains when I watch Inuyasha on tv (dubbed) and cannot get the fact out of her head that Richard Ian Cox played the same gay guy on Breaker High. She also doesn't like watching anything other than The News or something that has famous celebrities in it. When I'm watching my anime she always frowns at it. Geesh. She can be so stubborn and unsupportive of what I love sometimes.
