Fav version of Sailor Moon
« on: April 17 2005, 12:45 am »
For all the moonies out there, which version of Sailor Moon do you prefer more and why?  I like PGSM the best!  It sticks closer to the original manga while adding in lots of creative new plot elements and characters, it's not as repeatitive or predictable as the anime, the character development is more realistic, and I think Usagi x Mamoru is better in PGSM than in the anime.  And while I do like the manga, I feel like it focuses almost too much on Usagi and not enough on the other characters, but PGSM gives everyone equal screening time.  The only real thing I don't like about PGSM is episode 49.  Somethings about it were kind of disappointing and I thought that episode was too confuzzling, but otherwise I like everything else about PGSM.  I even like Sailor Luna!  So, which version of Sailor Moon do you like the most?
When her leathery, crow-footed face turned towards my raised hand and said, “Yes, the boy in the Sailor Mercury t-shirt,” I sprung into action. It took me a brief 20 seconds to acquire the bokken (wooden sword) I had secured to the underside of our chairs with duct tape the night previous. Shouting “Japan BANZAIII!” in the manner of those noble kamikaze pilots from the War of United States Aggression (so tactlessly referred to in your history books as “World War II”), I charged the stage, bringing down the bokken forcefully onto the plywood table in front of Tiffany Grant. It was a tragic mistake not to channel my ki correctly. The bokken splintered into a thousand pieces, leaving me with no other plan of attack besides shouting, “You’re no Asuka!” as two Ohayocon toughs escorted me out of the room-SomethingAwful.com

I've only seen the first ten episodes. The stupid Up On The Roof programme cancelled it.

Well, I guess I'm forced to choose the dubbed option by default. It IS the only one I've seen any amount of.

That was from the fifth season of the Sailor Moon anime, Sailor Stars, which never was and never will be released in the U.S.

Because as I said in the Digimon thread, Japan and America's cultures are different from eah other, and in Japan Sailor Moon is considered to be for children (http://www.tcp.com/~doi/smoon/).  Toei wants Sailor Moon to maintain its kid-friendly audience internationally yet at the same time they don't want Sailor Stars to be heavily edited to death (can you really blame them?), which is what it would have to go through before it can be aired on children's American television.  So, unless America's over-protective culture changes drastically within the next year or so or Toei decides to change it mind (both which are highly unlikely), Sailor Stars has a snowball's chance in Hades of ever coming to the U.S.  Personally, I'm glad that it's not coming to the U.S. if it keeps it from being edited to death.  I dread the thought of seeing how they would try to censor episode 200.  Besides, it's not like fansubs are hard to find over the Internet.  All you need is a high speed Internet connection (thank goodness for cable Internet) and Sailor Stars is already practically yours, since if you can find any anime with a file sharing program, chances are you'll find Sailor Stars fansubs with it, too.  And if you don't have a high-speed Internet connection or can't download for whatever reason, you can always order the fansub DVDs from VKLL.

If you can use the file sharing program Bittorrent, you can download Sailor Stars fansubs in .AVI format from Animesuki.com.  That's the best place to get them from because those files are in very good quality.

I just love PGSM!  It my main fav because I feel that it is more emotional and fits Naoko Takeuchi's original concept better than the manga.  If you like PGSM, then you might like my site.  I have a lot of music videos dedicated to the series.  Anyway, I chose PGSM.

I like PGSM and Sailormoon anime as well as the manga XD So cute XD

I do agree though, in terms of sticking to the plot, PGSM owns, however, I liked the anime too, maybe because it was more humourous too me XD

The anime sub! ^__^
I don't like the dub as much, and the manga is great but its not as cutsie as the anime.
I LOVE PGSM but sometimes it can be a little too cheesy!
Sera myu is cool also, but They are dressed in too sparkling suits! lol!

so the subbed anime is my fav version of sailormoon!
