Just to be fair, since there's a Yaoi/Shounen-ai thread already. (I didn't find one for this, but if there is, I apoligize...)
So, yuri and shoujo-ai, girl+girl. What do you think about it?

I have not seen/read one, just in a few episodes of Loveless, but other than that nothing I can remember...

I voted for shoujo-ai. I haven't seen many shoujo-ai anime yet, but I do have some favorite shoujo-ai couples, like TomoyoxMeilin and HarukaxMichiru, for example. I don't really care for yuri because it doesn't turn me on any at all. I prefer yaoi. ^^

I voted yes. I used to like yuri (the tasteful ones, at least. <_< ) before I got used to yaoi and really fell in love with that. I think I prefer shoujo-ai more now.. it's always nice seeing two girls in a loving relationship, and one of my favorite couples, Seiya/Usagi is shoujo-ai, so I've written a few fanfiction.

But my obsessive love now is yaoi. ^__^;

Gasp! Seiya/Usagi is heresy! Usagi/Mamoru is OTP! Such blasphemy shall not be tolerated! It is unforgiveable. (/jk) Actually, in all seriousness, I've never really seen Usagi as being in a lesbian relationship. It just doesn't seem to fit her character at all, but to each his/her own.
Personally, I prefer Makoto/Ami and Rei/Minako, and I adore Haruka/Michiru. And I love Utena/Anthy from Revolutionary Girl Utena. But really, since I'm a lesbian it'd be pretty weird if I didn't love shoujo-ai/yuri. And, babypiggy, the difference is that yuri is more graphic while shoujo-ai is more innocent and sweet; it's exactly like the difference between yaoi and shounen-ai.

Lol, I can't get into that couple debate since I've actually never seen or read Sailor Moon. *ducks* And I dare say that now it wouldn't hold my interest. *coughneedsyaoicough*

So anyway, I voted yes. I used to read quite a bit fiction, not so much manga, until I became obsessed with yummy yaoi.Â Â ^_____^

Haruka/Michiru and Utena/Anthy are love ^^ I would say I prefer yaoi over yuri, but part of that is because there's so much more yaoi about. But mostly it's because I think yaoi's hotter (to me, anyway

As far as shounen-ai and shoujo-ai go, partly, as I said, there's a lot more shounen-ai about (by which I mean available in English). But love is love is love, and any darling couple will be adored by me <3 And that includes the lovely if unrequited pairing of Tomoyo/Sakura ^^

sugahcat is right, there is more content of yaoi to read and watch, like in the anime of sakura the relation of sakura and tomoyo was only friend ship

.. we have to read the manga to know what is the real thing that tomoyo was feeling to sakura.

Revolutionary Girl Utena is an absolutely fantastic series, and well worth seeing. Strangely enough, the Utena and Sailor Moon animes were directed by the same man- Kunihiko Ikuhara; he started on Utena just after the SM anime ended. The Utena manga isn't nearly as good as the anime, which is odd- usually the manga is better than the anime. And Tomoyo/Sakura is very sweet and beautiful, even if it will be forever unrequited. I've never seen the CCS anime, so I didn't know they cut out Tomoyo's love/crush on Sakura. Kinda seems strange, since they left in Touya/Yukito.

Oh god. *dies* >< I hate Sailor Moon canon when it's not Haruka/Michiru. Especially since the whole romantic energy of series seems focused on how perfect a couple Usagi/Mamoru were. *shrugs* And for some reason I always tend to dislike the main coupling of a series (with a few exceptions), anyway.. (Usagi/Mamoru, Ichigo/Masaya, Miaka/Tamahome,... I won't say Sakura/Syaoran for fear of getting mauled, but they've never been my most favorite... not when I have Touya/Yukito and Kuro/Fai at least. ^__^) But getting back on topic.. I'll be first to admit there's way too many bad out-of-character fics for Seiya/Usagi, but I like them anyway.... and it doesn't seem quite as strange for Usagi to me since Seiya is very guy-ish anyway.. already having experience as one due to her.. weird circumstances. XD Not that that makes her any less girl, though, really. (And yeah.. anime Seiya only even if it was screwed up - she's not the same character in the manga.)

Oops.. and I'm rambling. And what about Kaede and Sai from Angelic Layer? They're so together, you can tell.. and another really cute couple. ^^;;

Er... I only read AL once, a few years ago. I don't really remember anything much from it, except that I loved Icchan. When I get money, I'll probably buy it and read it again, but it's not at the top of my list. Right now, I'm just trying to round out my Tokyo Babylon and X collection. (Subaru/Seishirou is love. Twisted, creepy, tragic love, but love nonetheless.)

I see your point about how guy-ish Seiya is. If Usagi were to be in a lesbian relationship, it would be with Seiya as opposed to Rei, the other character Usagi is consistently slashed with. I'd also say that Usagi might end up with Haruka since Haruka is also guy-ish, but that would violate Haruka/Michiru. And they are inviolable.

And Seiya, Taiki, and Yaten do have... unique circumstances.Â It's all Seiya's fault, I'm sure. She's definitely the one who convinced the other two to go trans. Personally, I like Seiya/Kakyuu and Yaten/Taiki; (after all, remember, Seiya pretty much fell in love with Usagi because Usagi reminded her of Kakyuu.) And I do like Usagi/Mamoru. (shrug) They're cute together, and the whole star-crossed lovers in a past life thing appeals to my romantic side. And I've always been a bit of a canonslut; you have to give me a pretty big reason to violate canon for me to support a non-canon coupling.

I also do not see Tomoyo and Sakura actually being together; half because Syaoran and Sakura are very cute together and, after Tsubasa, are as inviolable as Haruka/Michiru, and half probably because Tomoyo rocks my world and I would so date her if she were older... and actually real... (Geez... )

The coupling that is... not the fics. -__-; I just read that and realized how bad that sounded. I actually like Seiya/Kakyuu, too. It's interesting to theorize what their relationship really was (or could be). As for the others... well, its been so long since I've really been into the fandom it doesn't matter anymore, and I used to like all kinds of pairings. I do have some Taiki/Yaten doujinshi that are really nice. And just can't see any of those three with anyone that's not completely girl.

Hmm.. and I still want to see the Utena movie, despite all the weirdness I've heard about it.

Oh dude, the Utena movie is unbelievable. I love it so much. You definitely need to see it. The DVD has director's commentary from Kunihiko Ikuhara that you should also watch, just so it makes a little more sense. Not that it will ever entirely make sense, but... it will make more sense. Some of my favorite memories are of corrupting my friends with that movie. But don't watch it until you've seen the entirety of the anime series; the movie and the series may have nothing to do with each other, but the movie is even more confusing unless you know all the basic characters and their flaws and strengths. And there are a few in-jokes from the T.V. series in the movie as well.

I like shoujo-ai! But probably less than shounen-ai, since I haven't seen as much of it as shounen-ai. I like HarukaxMichiru and SakuraxTomoyo (even though I love SyaoranxSakura more ^^). I've never seen any of Utena ^^; or the last season of Sailor Moon. All I know is that Usagi belongs with Mamoru. =)

I'm kind of seeing some hints in Bleach... but that could just be me. @__@;;

Shoujo-ai, shounen-ai, straightness... Gender doesn't matter to me, as long as the couple seem right for each other. I couldn't bother with porn though, be it same-sexed or the counterpart.

My favourite shoujo-ai couple would definetly be... (spoiler for .hack//SIGN)

Tsukasa and Subaru. The way they love each other even though never having met in the real world (until at the very end, that is), thus basing their relationship on personality rather than physical attraction appeals to me. Now, don't get me wrong - I'm not saying that they're just some kind of platonic friends, because there clearly is a tension between them even before they get to know each other. However, I'd say they're drawn to each other because of their mutual feelings of loneliness, and also how Subaru sees herself in Tsukasa - they are both victims in this world; Subaru being disabled and trapped in her own body while Tsukasa likewise cannot escape the prison of The World. If I believed in soulmates, I'd say these two are.

Hotaru and Michiru are pretty cute together, and I also like the relationship between Sakura and Tomoyo (although I wouldn't want them to be together, partly because I prefer unrequieted love, but also because Sakura, for me, is the very image of an innocent child and thus I have a problem seeing her paired with anybody whatsoever. I don't even like Shaoran/Sakura *hides*) even though I don't agree with the persons above who say that there seems to be nothing more than friendship between Tomoyo and Sakura in the anime. Me, I watched the anime before reading the manga, and I thought it perfectly clear that Tomoyo loved our cardcaptor as more than a friend.
