Footprints and memories...

It was the forth aniversary since the accident. He came back here every year. Syaoran stood on the street corner were it happend. Holding in his hand his last memory of her. It was the middle of december and the streets were lined with snow. A light powder fell from the sky as if sprinkled by angels. Even now, looking back down the sidewalks, he still saw the footsteps that were sunken in the snow. Closing his eyes he thought back to that night four years ago. It was one of the happiest days of his life. He had just proposed to the girl of his dreams and she had accepted...Sakura Kinomoto.
A tear fell down his cheek
They were at a Christmas party when Syaoran proposed to her, everyone thought it was a perfect match. Syaoran was congratulated by his friends, Sakura was showing off her ring. Everything was exactaly as it should be.

Neither of them had been drinking that night. It was snowing outside and the moonlight reflected off the snow. It was late...the party died down and people began to leave. Syaoran and Sakura decided to walk home together.
Syaoran gripped the ring tightly in his hand
They walked down the sidewalk leaving footprints in the snow. Sakura was admiring the engraving on her ring.
I will always love you Sakura
"I will always love you too Syaoran\" Sakura whispered in his ear.
A car whirled around the corner behind them and the bright lights of the car engulfed them. Sakura had pushed him out of the way and gotten hit by the car herself.
Tears were now streaming down his face
"SAKURA" His own voice resounded in his head as if he had screamed it yesterday.
The driver of the car was drunk and had left just as quickly as he had came. He ran up to her...crimson staining the snow around her. He grasped her hand in his own and tryed to speak but he couldn't manage to get anything out.
"Syaoran...I will...always love you."
Her eyes shut, her breathing slowed, her face went cold. He embraced her in his arms tears flowing down his cheeks. She was gone...
Syaoran opened his eyes back up and tears continued to stream down his face. Everyday of his life since the accident he thought about her.
"It should've been me...It should've been me"
Syaoran looked back upon his single set of footprints...there should have been another pair. He stopped crying and placed a bouquet of cherry blossoms on Sakura's memorial just as he had every year today since the accident. He slowly walked away gripping the ring in his pocket.
"I will always love you...Sakura"
