Chapter 1: Magic
(by Lady Ultima, added on 2005-11-06 06:15:16 AEST) [Discussion Topic]

I absolutely adore Touya/Yukito. They are tied with Fake’s Ryo/Dee, Legal Drug’s Kakei/Saiga, and Tsubasa’s Fai/Kurogane (even though Fai/Kurogane isn’t technically canon (yet), I like to pretend it is) for the best male/male pairings in all anime/manga. Gravitation’s Shuichi/Yuki come in at a very close second. This is just a drabble I wrote one day, thinking about these two and CCS in general.

Magic

When he’d first started falling in love with Yuki, he’d been worried. He’d worried that it was just the intense magic surrounding the boy that attracted him so incredibly, just as that same magic had been the cause of Sakura’s and Syaoran’s infatuations with Yuki. And if it were just the magic… Well, one could not trust the magic. Magic was impetuous, demanding, and completely unreliable. It forced you to do and experience things you didn’t want to, giving only the barest of recompense. The magic forced him to see spirits, giving him in return only the ability to know when Sakura was in danger and visions of his mother. The recompense was, in its own way, a type of payment.

No, magic was not something to build love upon. It would come and go as it pleased, leaving you alone to pick up the pieces of your heart.

Touya had picked up the pieces of his heart more than enough in his life. He didn’t want to do it again.

In that way, it had almost been a relief to give up his magic for Yuki. Let’s see, his heart whispered, if you still feel the same without your magic. Let’s see how deep this really goes.

He had.

It went deep.

It was then that he realized that the magic was not some fickle sprite, seeking its own pleasure. The magic itself was deep. That magic was life, and life was magic.

It went deep, and deeper still.
