Question About The Sealed Card Movie (contains spoilers)
« on: November 06 2005, 01:27 am »
I have a question about the second CCS movie, but this question is a spoiler for it, so if you haven't seen it yet and don't want to be spoiled, you shouldn't read this post.  Anyway, my question is this (which I have typed in pink color, since I don't know how to do that spoiler thing).

In the TV series, it was stated that after Sakura transformed all the Clow Cards into Sakura Cards, she wouldn't get tired anymore after using them, which is shown in the movie when she casually uses the Create Card even though there's no danger around just for fun.  She uses her Sakura Cards several other times in the movie and doesn't get exhausted at all when she uses them, but then at the end of the movie, after Sakura captures the Blank Card, at first you think that Sakura is going to lose her feeling that's most important to her, but then it takes Shaoran's feeling instead.  Shaoran then says it's because Sakura is tired from using too many cards in one day, so the Blank Card went after him because at that moment Shaoran had more magical power than Sakura did, but I'm confused here.  I thought Sakura wasn't supposed to get tired from using her cards after she transformed them all?  So, how come she still got tired at the end of the movie?

When her leathery, crow-footed face turned towards my raised hand and said, “Yes, the boy in the Sailor Mercury t-shirt,” I sprung into action. It took me a brief 20 seconds to acquire the bokken (wooden sword) I had secured to the underside of our chairs with duct tape the night previous. Shouting “Japan BANZAIII!” in the manner of those noble kamikaze pilots from the War of United States Aggression (so tactlessly referred to in your history books as “World War II”), I charged the stage, bringing down the bokken forcefully onto the plywood table in front of Tiffany Grant. It was a tragic mistake not to channel my ki correctly. The bokken splintered into a thousand pieces, leaving me with no other plan of attack besides shouting, “You’re no Asuka!” as two Ohayocon toughs escorted me out of the room-SomethingAwful.com

Well, I think that she became tired when changing the cards because it required a lot of magical power and she was still a beginner. When she changed all the cards she wouldn't have to turn anymore and she wouldn't be tired. But We know that the cards also require magic power to be used, remember Shaoran using the Time card, one of the most powerful cards to be used. So using the cards would be tiring till Sakura master her magical power and become a great "witch". This is my point of view.

I agree with that idea, but I also think that it didn't mean that she was TIRED, as much as drained. I'm guessing that magicians only have a certain amount of power within themselves, and that to go over this level would be dangerous and possibly fatal. I imagine that after such a hard battle, her powers were mostly used up, and needed 'recharging'. Therefore Syaoran, who hadn't used as much of his internal magical power, was less drained and had more energy/magic to offer himself as a sacrifice with.

True Ruby Chan.

One point is open to debate but, energy usage: Think of it like a car fuel tank, once it drops below a certian level, no more fuel can be sucked out. Same would go for magical energy, a small amount left to keep the person alive after a lot of usage.

But yes, if absoluety drained of even this, then it might be possible that the person dies

Absolutely correct. That is the exact reason why Yue almost died. Without his mystical energies, he was slowly fading away.

The reason why Yue was disappering was that he is simbolically the Moon, a reflecting celestial globe, so he does not creates energy by itself, diferently from Kero that is the Sun and have his own energy. So Yue was energetically connected to Sakura, his master, and Sakura as a begginer witch hadn't magical powers needed to keep Yue's life energy. I also think that an abusive use of magic can collapse the body and turns to death. It's like fisically exercises, if you don't stop it can brings you problems.

great question!! i never thought of it before... but if i really hav to comment on this.. i think it is because Sakura had use the Time card during the battle with other strong cards that need a lot of magical energy... after all, when she is changing the last few final cards, the only cards that need a lot of energy is the Light and Dark card.... and besides that, the second movie also stated that the Hope card had the power of 52 cards combined togather.. so i think Sakura must hav use a lot of magical energy to attack and defend, right... but that is only my opinian of course...

such an old topic resurecteed XD

also, it probably would require a GREAT deal of magic to seal a Clow card. maybe mor e than just transforming it. remmber Eriol stated that its got the same amount of power as the other cards, only it's pure Yin while they are yang. meaning it would also take more magic than if sakura was simply sealing one of the other cards.

That sounds about right. It would take more energy due to Eriol explanation about the 53rd card that he had sealed under his old house. Also at the beginning, after she met Kerobero and all. He explained that Sakura had some magical powers at the start and that is why she was able to break the seal on the Book which awaken Kerobero in the first place. Well if I remembered correctly that is. Which explains why she collapsed or died after transforming the 53rd card. Wouldn't it.

Also note Syaoran trained much longer than Sakura in the art of magic (magician for his case). Which means he would have somewhat higher experience in conserving his magical powers in combat and he doesn't have any other magical spells except his standard four elemental spells that he had to train for at Hong Kong.

even so... syapran may be more experienced but sakura, being heir to the Clow magic is more powerful than he is. you could say that she will become the most powerful magician in the world. (second only to the space time witch ;) )

Yeah, I won't argue with that since that was proven in near the end of the whole series. Where Syaoran just used some his magical for Sakura before starting to feel drained of his magical powers or was it after the event was over and he nearly collapsed then Sakura came to support him before he confessed his true feelings to Sakura.

But the point I was making on that post was that Sakura already had a set amount of magical power before she started collecting the cards which would prevent her being completely drained (and possibly collapsing) due to lack magical powers to keep her alive.

Whilst I did mentioned that Syaoran has more experience in magical power due to his constant exposure back at Hong Kong. He got sucked in the void pretty early, which may have be another reason why he had a little more magical powers than Sakura, which saves Sakura from losing her strongest feelings.

*Notes: Sakura uses a lot of spells during the combat against the void card, that drained some magical energy plus sealing void card which is equivalent to amount of magical energy to seal all 52 clow cards. Magical energy remaining may be exactly the amount she had at the start of the series and Syaoran had more magical energy at episode 12 - 14. Since he could sense the clow cards easier than Sakura for that period.
