what is the purpose of seeding? if i delete the torrent file while seeding will i still be able to play the file(not torrent file)

seeding is you are sharing your file.  You can view/use the file even you are seeding it.  But you can't renname or delete or move the file.
if you delete the torrent file, it will not affect your original file.
