"Design the next CWF Theme" Challenge

Finally, no more active contests.. now I can post this up. :sweatdrop:

Like I've said several times before, I'll be needing the help of our talented members here for the next forum themes. Preferably, those who have proven themselves "gifted" in the banner contests. :wink: If you're interested in making the top banner for the next forum theme, read on!

 Project Details:
 
  • It will all be up to you to decide on the colour of the theme provided that it should be of light colours. (This isn't exactly a good time for dark themes, you know...)
  • The banner should be well-designed. Something that will attract a new visitor and at the same time, will not easily bore regular visitors after a few weeks. (My themes were not that good, I know... :sweatdrop: But that's why I need your help.)
  • You do the top banner. From there, I'll do the other parts of the forum based on the colours you have chosen.
  • I'll also ask you to provide an image that I will use for the read/unread icons.
     Example.. for this current holiday theme, I used a star:
  • All other details will be discussed privately through chats, email, whatever suits you.
  • If you're busy and you're not sure if you can make it then don't bother sending a PM. I prefer someone who has enough free time to do this. I definitely don't want "rushed" banners, that's unless you're a pro designer and you're confident you can amaze me with your done-in-25-minutes banner.
  • The finished forum theme will have to be approved by YOU first before it goes "live" in the forums.

 Incentives:
 
  • You'll be credited for the whole theme! (Your username will show up in the Theme Selector of user's profiles. The work I will do in the theme isn't worth crediting.)
  • More cookies than you can ever eat!
  • You'll be popular here coz YOU designed the new CWF theme! :greengrin:

 I get to choose (from among those who PM me) who will do the banner. If you've won in any of the monthly contests (even if you're just a runner-up) then you've got a big chance of getting selected. You've earned yourself the chance to create something special for the forum. :keke:

 Because this project is for the whole forum, I'm expecting that the person who gets selected will do his best in designing the banner. A thousand CCS/TRC fans will depend on you! This a rare chance so why not give it your best shot? :okay:

 So if you've got what it takes, send me a PM now! Just tell me you're interested.. I will ONLY reply to the one I've chosen. I will announce here when I've already chosen someone and that will be the deadline for sending PMs to me. :XD:

woo, I can't wait to see what the members come up with. This should be awesome!!

will you or the member doing it choose the size of everything too.
For Example: The holiday theme featured a fix size for the actual forums leaving space for the background either side. While the theme before took up the whole page.
also the size of the actual Banner.

Is there a certain size for the banner that you'd like??

Oooh.  This sounds fun but I have no intention of joining in on the fun.  XD  I'd probably just end up scaring away fans rather than hauling them in by the masses.  lmao.  Best of luck to those that do participate though~

I forgot to mention that. Thanks for reminding me.

Whoever's chosen will create 2 versions of the banner. A wider one which will be useful to high-res members and another one (similar to this holiday theme) for 800x600 users. The two banners will look almost the same. The wider one will simply just look like an extended version of the other banner. Wait.. now that I think about it, how about having 1 designer for each version? Then we'll have 2 new themes. hm..

Project Update:
I received 5 applications so far. Haven't replied to anyone of them yet, still have to think about that..
Weird though.. The people who I wanted to ask to do the theme are the same people who sent PMs! That's good. I didn't expect they would be interested.  :surprised: But then there are also some who I expected to apply but didn't but that's okay.

Anyway, let me just get this clear first:
You only need to send me a PM telling me you're interested. You're not supposed to create a banner already. I will choose first who makes them.

For those who are still interested, there's still time to apply. If you haven't won yet in any of the banner contests then you can at least give me a site where I can look at you've done.  :wink:
I'll get to a final decision before Saturday, that's for sure.

Yes, there will still be monthly banner contests. ^^
This contest is only for the site layout and doesn't replace the calendar contests.
I think Little Wolf just meant there weren't any active contests, "at the moment".

There will still be monthly calendar banner contests until March. That's what my plan is for now. It still might change.

And I can't make this one a contest where members will vote for the best because the non-winning themes would be wasted. Unlike the banners which can still be used in some other way, the themes can only be used by this forum. Besides, the effort in my part would be huge and I don't have the time to be talking to 10 or more contestants discussing about designs. Choosing only one designer seemed like the best way for me.

I think I've made my decision but I need to get some sleep first to make sure I'm choosing the right person. Will PM him/her later today... But please be reminded that I will not announce who I've chosen here. And I trust that whoever I will choose will keep it a secret until the theme is done and released in the forum. (I like surprises.) :keke:

Just because you didn't get selected doesn't mean you're not worthy of the task. It just so happens that I only have to choose one. Like I said before, this will not be the last theme challenge so you still have plenty of chances in the future.  :wink:
