The Shadow, The Sand, The Shot, The Time, The Silent, The Dream, The Twin, The Big, The Dark and The Return are definitely male in drawing and appearance. Others may be as well but is hard to tell because of the drawing style of CLAMP.

17 of them are items, objects or creatures. It is entirely possible that the cards themselves don't have gender period...only a similar make of what may be a humanoid form of their particular power, devoid or unbound by complexities of gender.

The English Clow Book with the cards = $5 (which I paid for at a store of all places). They are NOT rare...do not pay more than that.

The Japanese Clow Book = $10/$15. Nicer but again it's not really that rare.

I have the Clow cards that are in the Plastic book. The cards are really good quality. I also have the Sakura cards. Bought them off Ebay from China for Christmas. Before I bought those, we printed them out!

This thread has gotten really interesting.
The Clow cards are very similiar to Tarot cards, which I used to collect.
In Clamp No Kiseki it says the Clow cards were based on Tarot cards.

I have the book that came with my Sakura cards that tells how to do fortune telling with the cards, but it's in Chinese.
I don't know if there is a translation anywhere.

Kero shows Sakura how to do fortune telling with the Clow cards in the episode about the Mirror card. It looks like they are laid out similiar to how you lay out Tarot cards.

I used the Clow Cards I bought four years ago to do some pretend fortune-telling. Heck, I even used them as Tarot cards for a while.

On the gender of the Clow/Sakura Cards, according to an article in CLAMP no Kiseki most of the cards are indeed female since it was a male (Clow Reed) who created the cards.

So if the cards were indeed real and if a female created them, would she make many of them male in origin?!! Interesting indeed...
