A young women with flowing black hair soaked in the sunshine as a slight breeze threatened to blow her white sun hat away. She hung onto the hat with her one hand as she looked at the busy streets before her. She rushed down the steps into the square below one hand still on her hat, the other holding her single bag. Stares followed her as she brushed past people trying to get to her destination.
Soon she arrived in front of the East HQ building. She pushed past the gates and entered inside. The hallway seemed deserted, but the girl kept walking towards the end of the hallway. She hesitated as she raised her fist to the door. Finally she knocked and peeked her head through not bothering to wait for an answer. The office seemed like a mess when she first saw it. It was as if the owner was trying to pack up and leave in a hurry. As far as she could see it was deserted. Shrugging her shoulders she closed the door, faintly wondering if Roy had gotten her letter. She headed towards the main office where she figured most of the military would be. A hush set over as she poked her head in and she smiled,
"Hello, my name is Arianna Mitchell; the Gentle Alchemist. Do you happen to know where Roy is?"

Roy chose to ignore what his mind said. "The beach? Sure, why not? It's a beautiful day out and God knows I need to get out more...let me just change into shorts and get my sandles."

Arianna nodded as he left the room. Once she made sure he had left she dropped her head on the table. "THE BEACH!? I DIDN"T THINK HE WOULD TAKE ME SERIOUSLY!!"
That's where you two had your first date~" Arianna glared and stalked out of the room trying to silence her mind. She searched her bag for her hat and sandles muttering to herself, "Stupid mind..Maybe I need to get checked into a mental hospital. Who knows it might do me some good..." Roy's footsteps mixed with the creaking of the stairs filled her ears. She looked up and smiled as she walked to the door. "Keep calm. Nothing will go wrong at the beach. It is a place with lots of people. Nothing will go wrong."

Arianna's smile made Roy's heart float. He smiled back at her. He had changed his outfit completely. He was wearing a white sleevless shirt, blue swim trunks, and black sandles. He opened the door for Arianna and followed her outside. It really is a nice day...

In a couple of minutes Roy and Arianna stand on the soft sand. They look at each other awkwardly and start laughing. Roy in that deep chuckle of his, and Arianna's laugh a pure melodious note.

Arianna smiled again. It seemed like she experiencing their whole first date over again. So you DO like him still hmm?
"NO I DON'T!!"
A sign featuring an aquriaum caught Arianna's eyes. She grabbed Roy's hand, "Roy-kun!! Look an aquriaum show! Can we go please?" She asked sweetly. The sun shone in her eyes a bit and she pulled her hat down lower. He had just looked into her eyes for the first time since she had gotten here. She could feel a burning around her cheeks again but she quickly willed it to go away. She looked up again smiling, "Please?"

Roy sighed but quickly turned it into a small smile. "Sure Arianna, if that's where you want to go. We'll go."

Arianna smiled realizing that they were going to a place with water. She had no problem with it, but then again she had already doused Roy with water 2 times, "Never mind. Why don't we go get ice-cream instead? Look! An ice-cream stand! Come on Roy-kun!!" Arianna called running over to the ice-cream cart.

Roy couldn't help but grin. He knew now why he had fallen in love with Arianna. He rushed over to Arianna and the icecream man. Roy asked for a coffee icecream, and looked over at Arianna to ask what she wanted. She just smiled at him with a meaningful look. Hoh..boy...she wants me to choose...it's a test, mind. What does she like?
Strawberry and vanilla swirl.

Absolutely...although, I shouldn't be the one knowing all this...
"And a strawberry and vanilla swirl for the lady."
The icecream guy smiled and handed it to both of them. Roy payed and the icecream guy said, "You guys seem perfect for each other. And winked.

Arianna smiled as Roy handed her her ice-cream. The walked side by side together along the sea wall silently. "Why isn't he saying anything?! Did I do something wrong?!"
Yup..LOTS of terrible terrible things.
"You..shut up..."
"You wanna go sit on the beach? It's really nice down there." She suggested hesitantly. No, she wasn't going to let her mind win.

Roy smiled. He was actually...enjoying this. "Sure, let's head on down." He grabbed her hand unconciously and pulled her toward the beach and the sparkling clear water.

Arianna breathed in the salty air and she smiled as the wind blew her hair around her face slightly. She finished the last of her ice cream off and gazed off into the glittering sun. Blushing she remembered how Roy had pulled her hand and led her down here. They were on the far side of the beach where there weren't as many people; just them. They both stayed silent watching the sun, "Roy-kun...I was wondering...Do you remember the day we met?"

Roy turned slightly to look at Arianna. She looked so...dare he say it? Beautiful. Roy grinned and layed down on the sand.
"Of course I do. It must have been the happiest day of my life. I still think about it..."

Roy blushed furiously at that comment. He let a soft sigh escape his lips.
"Arianna...the other night...I...had a dream...."

"Arianna...the other night...I...had a dream...."" Arianna coughed slightly remembering her dream. What did it mean?? Sure, in the middle of the night she had woken up and confessed that she still loved him, but it was the middle of the night!!
"Really? That's really strange because I had one too." Arianna laughed trying to remain calm wondering what his was about.

Roy sat up straight again. "I mean..." He chuckled nervously, "It wasn't anything really...it's just that...you were in it...and I...well, you see.." Roy turned and gazed seriously into Arianna's eyes. "You see, when I woke up...I realized, that I still love you."

Arianna blushed and opened her mouth but no words came out. "He what?!"
You heard him...he loves you~ Arianna laughed nervously and smiled, "You're such a wonderful kidder Roy! Come on, let's go walk along the seawall." She grabbed his hand and pulled him towards the steps towards the seawall, "The sunset is supposed to be beautiful from there. Come on, hurry!"

Roy stumbled after Arianna as they reached the seawall. They quietly acknowledged each other's presence and enjoyed it. No words were necessary. Once again, Roy blushed as Arianna held his hand. Roy...liked this feeling.
It certaintly has been a while....

Arianna stepped onto the damp stone wall that seperated the sea from the shore, "Roy, what do you think is worse? Being forgotten or death?" She smiled slightly looking at him. Not waiting for an answer, she spoke, "Personally I think being forgotten is worse...If you're living and you're forgotten by everyone, what's the point of living? Death would be much better because although you're dead, you're at least rememberd." She chuckled, and looked at him again, "I guess I'm saying I'm scared of being forgotten. What are you scared of Roy-kun?" She asked stopping and leaning a bit closer to his face smiling.

Roy, still enjoying the moment said the one thing that came to his mind right away. He said softly, "I'm scared of losing you. He smiled briefly, "I'm not joking. You should know that I suck at kidding around."

Arianna's eyes widened slightly and stepped back a bit on the wall. You love him, you love him, you lo-~
"Shut up!!" Her voice came out more like a croak, "Yea right...I know you better than that Roy-Ah!" Her foot met the air and her eyes widened more. She fell over the edge towards the water.

Suddenly, Arianna was going head first into the ocean. Roy's military instinct took over. Never leave a man...or in this case woman in danger Roy dove after Arianna, reaching her before it was too late. He wrapped his arms around her body and made sure he was the one who would hit the water first. More cushion for her..I suppose...HOLY CRAP!! WATER AGAIN!!!
You are such an idiot Roy. I wonder how they made you colonel?

The impact of splashing into the water was so hard, that Arianna's head went foward towards Roy and...kissed him.
Roy, astonished at first was about to get out of the kiss, but then...it felt natural. Both of them held the kiss, (in the water) for about 10 seconds.

Arianna felt Roy's warm arms wrap around her as she went crashing towards the shallow water. Soon she felt the impact of the fall, and the next thing she knew, her lips were touching Roy's. Her eyes widened and her first reaction was to break away, but something told her not to. They held it for about 10 seconds before they broke away. Arianna sat up and stared at Roy a minute before something snapped inside her.
SLAP A large red hand mark was left imprinted on his face, "WHAT WAS THAT FOR?!" She screamed standing up.

"What do you mean what was that for? Your head came foward and your lips touched mine." Roy said, oddly calm. "I did what any man would do, I kissed you back." Roy touched his face. It was burning hot. He stared at Arianna again, got up from the water casually, as if he did something like this often...which he did, and dried himself off. He started walking toward the street, then turned his head with a slight smile and said, "You coming or what?"

"My lips touched yours?! Why did you kiss me back?! I didn't even kiss you!! If anything, it was an accident!" Arianna exclaimed wiping her lips. "I can't believe that...Disgusting!"

"No, I didn't acutally!" She dried herself off quickly and ran out of the shallow water. She stopped suddenly, taking a good look at Roy's back.
Her hand glowed and another plume of water jumped from the water onto Roy. She walked past camly as if nothing had happened. "That will show him never to kiss me again...I didn't even mean to! It was a complete accident!"
Then why did you hold it?
"...Shut up."

Roy just sighed and shook his head as another wave of water splashed down on him.
Why can't women just admit they enjoyed it? I mean...it's not that hard...

Roy and Arianna entered Roy's house in an awkward/angered silence. However, Roy's answering machine was beeping. Roy reached to delete it, but he was too slow. Arianna, pushed him aside and pressed play.
You have one new message...
You've reached Colonel Roy Mustang of East HQ, I'm not home right now, so leave a message after the beep or whatever annoying sound it makes...

"Royy! It's Sunday~ I was waiting for this all week. Why aren't you home? I stopped by earilier but you weren't home. Call me later darling-," Arianna smashed the answering machine with her one hand and glared at Roy, "What was that all about hmm?" She could see the pressure she was putting on Roy as he strained to give an explaination, "Well Roy?!" The couch suddenly burst into flames and both of them turned to see what happened. Nice going! Guess this means you're sleeping in the same bed as him hmm?
"Damn...I hate my temper.."

Roy didn't care too much for pressure. It didn't bother him to much...in military. With women, especially the one glaring, and had set his couch on flames, pressure, did matter. A lot.Â
"That, was a..girl. You said you knew my reputaion Arianna." Roy glanced at the couch.
"Looks like...oh forget it."Â Roy took his jacket and said, "I'm going out for a drink and some air."
Roy stepped outside to the little lake just beside HQ. He took out a cigarrete and a small bottle of beer he had taken from his home. He chugged down his can of beer and took a drag and sighed.

Arianna doused the flames and realized that she would indeed have to sleep in the same bed as Roy. She walked into the kitchen and plopped down on a chair. "What have I gotten myself into?" She sighed and looked around the messy kitchen. "I did say I would get to it later...It's now later." She stood up and tied her hair up into a pony tail before getting to work cleaning up the kitchen. Anything to get her mind off Roy.

Roy stumbled back into the house after 3 hours outside. The aura that surrounded him was a mixture of alcohol and smoke...not pleasant. His eyelids were half closed and he collapsed onto the half burnt sofa. He didn't care if Arianna came in right now and screamed at him. He wouldn't move.

Arianna wiped her forehead as she walked out of the kitchen. It at least looked presentable now. She walked into the living room and saw Roy collapsed out on the couch. She rushed over, "You were out drinking again weren't you?" She wrinkled her nose, "And smoking? Roy! You idiot! Come on, into the shower. You need it more than me." He lay there on the couch and barely looked up at her. Arianna sighed and attempted picking him up, but it was no use. She grabbed his hand and with dificultly got him into the bathroom, "I better hear water running Roy!" She said before going back to work on the kitchen.

Roy, bedraggled, barely felt himself being pulled by Arianna to his bathroom. He looked at the bathtub, he looked at the door...he looked at the bathtub...he looked at the door...he turned on the water and slowly got in. It pained him to do so. He sat in the hot water and let it ease his pains. He got out and put on his pajamas. He stumbled outside and collapsed on the couch again. He hadn't bothered to dry himself and his pj's, including the rest of his body, was soaking wet.

Arianna walked out of the kitchen deciding that was enough for one day. She walked back into the living room to find Roy soaking wet, "Roy!!! You lazy bumb! Get up!!" He mumbled something that she couldn't hear properly and she sighed. "More work for me..." She muttered she grabbed his hand again and dragged him up the stairs. Finally reaching his room, she plopped him on the bed. Quickly she grabbed a towel from the bathroom and rubbed his hair, "Do you want yourself to get a cold? It's not the best for the Fire Alchemist..." she muttered. Sighing she quickly went downstairs to have her own shower.

Roy just sighed and closed his eyes, not feeling anything. His head reached the bed and he fell asleep. Once again, in dreamland. This time, the first time they met...
Colonel Roy Mustang was decked out in his military best. He walked into the glamorously bright room. Music was playing and people were talking and laughing. But when he walked in, all the men stood shocked, and all the women were smiling and hinting towards him. He smirked. He KNEW he looked good.
"Hey Colonel, where's your date?"
Mustang just smirked again. As a rule, all military personal when attending the military ball, had to bring a date. He hadn't, but it wouldn't matter. He had...a variety to choose from. He smirked and took a glass of wine. His hair was perfect, he had shaven the stubbles off his face, and he had a strong muscular build that he was very proud of.
"Hey Colonel, I dare ya to ask that lady over there to dance wit ya!"
Mustang turned to the lady that one of his men had pointed out. Roy arched his eyebrows and gave a small smile. She was gorgeous. She had long flowing hair and she had on a shiny silver dress with a sash around the middle. Her figure was absolute. Her smile lit up the room. Roy Mustang smiled again. He walked over to the lucky lady and ever so the charmer he said, "Good evening ma'am..." He gave a charming smile and continued, "I'm Colonel Roy Mustang," he kissed her hand politely, "would you give me the honor...of dancing with me?" All the women through jealous looks and all the men..wished they were him.Â
Soon, the colonel and the lady were on the dance floor. It was a slow dance and her head was on his chest. Mustang asked a question with that deep voice of his, "I don't remember...me asking you your name? How rude of me..." It turned out, her name was Arianna Mitchell; The Gentle Alchemist. Roy smiled, "A fine name, for such a fine woman.." They continued dancing and Roy swirled her around. The song ended. They bowed and walked off the dance floor.

Arianna trudged up the stairs and collapsed on the bed beside the already sleeping Roy. Her eyes felt heavy with sleep as her head hit the pillow and soon, her mind was dreaming again.
Arianna carried herself with an air of confidance as she walked into the ballroom. Heads turned her way as she walked past everyone. So she hadn't come with a date, so what? She liked it better that way. If a guy thought he could pick her up, boy were they wrong, "Arianna!! Over here!" Her friends waved her over, "Where's your date?" One of them asked.
"Why should I come with one? There's no point. I would probably abandon them here anyway." Her slender hand shot out to get a glass of wine as a waiter walked by. Her friends giggled, and Arianna joined in. They knew she wasn't one to go out with guys alot.
"Is that Roy Mustang?"
"I think it is!! Ekk! Doesn't he look handsome?" Arianna turned around to see where they were pointing at.
"I don't know...Looks like a cocky freak to me." Arianna commented taking another sip of her wine.
"Arianna!"
"What? I'm only telling the truth. He looks like a cocky, arrogant freak."
"And that cocky arrogant freak is coming this way!!" Her friends squealed. Arianna sighed and looked away.
"Good evening ma'am...I'm Colonel Roy Mustang. Would you give me the honor...of dancing with me?"
Arianna looked at the Colonel oddly as he kissed her hand, "What is with this guy?" She thought. Her friends had looks of urging her on. Arianna shook her head, but reluctantly agreed. As soon as the song ended she bowed and smiled rushing back to her friends.

Roy Mustang, as cocky as ever walked back to where he was before. He had a wider smirk on as he took back his glass of wine and took a drink from it. He looked at his watch....3...2....1...
"Awright Colonel, you win the dare."
Roy smirked and bowed slightly. "I rather enjoyed it." He walked out to the balcony, with a crowd of women following him out. He turned slightly and looked at all the women with pleading in their eyes to dance with them. He smiled slightly and said, "I'm sorry, I'd like to get some fresh air...if you lovely ladies wouldn't mind..." As if one cue, all the ladies in chorus went, "OH OF COURSE WE DON'T MIND!!! BUT...IS IT TRUE YOU HAVE A SIX-PACK?!?"
Roy chuckled and nodded. The women all happy with this piece of information went away. Roy turned back to the moonlit evening and rested his hand on the balcony, a smile forming on his lips as he remembered the dance with...Arianna Mitchell...

"You two look so good together!!" Her friends squealed again, "You two should go out!"
Arianna jumped back slightly, "Have you guys lost your minds? Why would I do that?" She shook her head and took another sip of her wine as her friends continued to talk about the "handsome" Roy Mustang. "Handsome? As if...But he is...a very good dancer." She thought.
------Next Day------
The phone rang at her desk and Arianna picked it up, "Arianna Mitchell."
"Miss Mitchell...I assume you recieved the flowers?" Arianna looked up as the door to the offices burst open. Three delivery men came in carrying vases of red and white roses.
"Ari-chan!! Who are these from?!" Her friend asked from her desk. Arianna shrugged and stood up going to the delivery men accepting them and then placing them on her desk. She picked up the phone again,
"I just did. Thank-you. What do you want Mustang-san?" Her jaw dropped, but she quickly closed her mouth, "A d-date?"
"A DATE?! ARI-CHAN GOO!!" Arianna grimaced. She spoke into the phone hesitantly,
"Depends where. THE BEACH?!" Arianna screamed into the phone, "NO WAY AM I GOIN-"
"Of course she'll go! She'll meet you there after work! Byee Roy darling!!" Her friend grabbed the phone and hung up. Arianna panted as her friend removed her hand from her mouth,
"I hate...all of you.."

Mustang smiled as he put the reciever down. Work was done for today anyways. He went home and changed into a white sleevless top, dark blue shorts, and black sandles. He walked over to the beach, bought a margarita and sat down on the soft white sand. He stayed away from the water as for as possible. A couple of minutes later, he spotted Arianna, beautfiul as ever. He smiled and waved her over. He bought another drink and handed it over to her. He smiled as he saw a whole troop of her friends "sneakily" following after her. He arched his eyebrows and then yelled out, "Some privacy ladies...if you wouldn't mind." He glanced at Arianna, she was trying to supress a grin.
"You look wonderful Miss Mitchell..." And he meant it. In the long flowing yellow sundress her figure was even more so prominent. Roy liked that. He guided her to his spot on the beach and layed two towels and a umbrella out.

Arianna walked down the beach hesitantly. She knew very well her friends were behind her..She vowed that when she got her hands on them, they were going to pay. Roy waved her over as he lay out two towels and an umbrella. She took the drink from his hand and sat down on the towel beside him, "Thank-you for inviting me...But you realize my friends are trying to set me up. I don't go out on many dates. Partly because work is the most imporant thing to me right now." She took a sip of the drink and looked out to sea. The water glistened and shone as the sun shone down on it.

Roy's smiling face turned serious.
"I understand Miss Mitchell, work is very important to me as well. It always has been...but a human being can only take so much. So as much as we humans concentrate on work, we also need time to enjoy life." Roy took a sip of his drink. "Think of today as your..special day off." Mustang smiled again, "I promise I'll make it your worthwhile."

Arianna thought it over in her head. She knew very well that he was a ladie's man, and that he had slept with alot of women. "Including my friends" she shuddered just thinking about it. "I'll give him a chance...But no touching what so ever." She thought firmly in her head. Smiling slightly she turned to him, "Fine. But you better make it worth my while, or I will be a very unhappy alchemist."

Roy smiled. He stood up and offered her his hand. "Would you care for a walk along the seawall madam?" Arianna slowly took his hand and then let go. She nodded and the two slowly walked off toward the wall. Roy hated small talk, but it seemed like this was the only way to make Arianna Mitchell start talking. "So, what do you do at your office?"

"I am put in charge of military affairs. Nothing much else. When they tell me to do something, I do it despite what my heart or mind is telling me to do. After all...We are dogs of the military." She smiled slightly. Arianna knew that her friends were whispering about her little date quite a distance away. "Calm yourself...Don't go killing them here."
"What do you do Mustang-san?"

Mustang took another drink. "I am a Colonel. I have some say in what the military does, but when it comes down to it, as you said, we are nothing more than the dogs of the military. We're on a leash and...we must obey those higher up." Roy sighed and looked down. Soon they came to an icecream stand. Roy quickly erased his frown. "Would you like some icecream Miss Mitchell?"

Arianna loved ice-cream...But she hid her childish love from this strange man. She smiled graciously, "Of course." They walked up to the stand and ordered, "Strawberry and vanilla swirl please." She licked the ice-cream as the man handed it to her. Soon the two continued their walk along the seawall, "When did you decide to join the military Mustang-san? There surely must be a reason." She asked curiously. She had heard bits and pieces of his past, but who knew if those were reliable or not. She had to hear it from him.

"Why?..." Mustang sighed. The real reason...he never told anyone. He had to make up something... "My parents served so I was a military kid from the start. My father always pressured me to do my best, and my mother enforced the "yes sir, yes ma'am" stuff. I guess, life in the military was undeniable for me." Roy did not meet Arianna's eyes.

Arianna tilted her head to one side, "That isn't the truth...I can see it in your eyes. But it is your choice to choose wether or not to tell anyone. I think you'll tell the real reason when the time is right." She smiled and continued walking, "I joined the military...because it was my mother was in the military.. She died when I was about 10. She was a state alchemist too." She smiled slightly remembering how ironic that she had joined. Her mother had told her never to join the military, you were treated like dogs, and you had no freedom. "Sorry Mom...I guess I did become one of them too." She thought bitterly. Smiling again she looked at Roy, "So, what is the next stop on my...special day off?"

Roy smiled. He was falling in love with her every passing minute.
"Your next stop is an aquarium show." He looked at his watch. "Hmm...seems like we're going to have to run to make it on time..." He grinned. "I'll race you the-" Even before he finished, Arianna was off like a speeding bullet. Roy grinned and ran after her.

Arianna laughed as she shot past him. She looked back, "Face it, you're going to get beaten by a girl Colonel!" She was right. In the end they both arrived at the aquarium show minutes before it started. They both walked in and found that the only seats left were at the front. She ran down the steps and took her seat, but she could see that he was hesitant, "It's just water...Even if you are the Fire Alchemist, it's nothing to be afraid of!" She pursuaded him. She saw him gulp as he sat beside her. Soon the show began.

Roy Mustang was in the front seat of the aquarium...where the people get wet the most. And he was right. In 10 seconds, he was drenched from head to toe. He looked over at Arianna and saw she was laughing. Well..., he thought, as long as she's happy... Mustang shook his head to dry himself of some water. Fire was useless now. But he should have saved his energy. Just then, another burst of water hit him square in the face. Roy blinked and squirted out a fine stream of water from his mouth.

Arianna's hair stuck to her face, and her dress was soaking wet. Like she could care, with alchemy, she could dry herself off. She looked over at Roy who was soaking wet already, and let out a laugh as he squirted a stream of water from his mouth. It went on like that for most of the show and when it was done, her sides were hurting from so much laughing. As the two exited, she glanced around for her friends. Sure enough there they were...laughing and smiling, "Here, let me dry us off since you can't." Arianna laughed as she clapped her hands. The tiny bracelet on her arm, held a transmutation circle inside it.

Mustang grinned. "Thanks...Arianna." Suddenly, his phone rang, "Yes..of course, I'll be right there." He turned and looked at Arianna. And smiled. "I'm sorry, they're calling me out on another mission...I hope...you had fun? I'll drop you off if you would like.." Arianna nodded and soon she was at her office. She waved and Roy waved back then drove off.
Roy woke up breathing hard. "D-dammit..."

"SHUT UP! IT'S TOO EARLY IN THE MORNING FOR THIS!" Arianna suddenly realized that she was sleeping in his bed...She shook and a look of disgust came over her face. A noise happened beside her and she looked over to see Roy was up to. She smiled hesitantly, "M-morning. Have a nice sleep? Wouldn't be surprised if you had a cold because you didn't dry yourself last night before putting on your clothes!"

Roy smiled hesitantly at Arianna. I do not have a- ACHOO! Roy sneezed. "Ugh..." Roy shook his head. "I do not have a cold. So how'd you sleep?" He wasn't going to tell her about the dream he had. She wouldn't believe him.

Arianna sighed after hearing the sneeze. She got out of bed and ran to her bag for medicine, "Just admit it...You have a cold, don't try and hide it." She frowned as she handed him a pill, "I slept fine."

"Are you crazy?! No I will not! I'll never hear the end of teasing from him!"
"Today's Monday isn't it? You better stay away from work until the cold goes away. And I'm not going to hear any protests." Arianna said as she left the room.

Arianna laughed as she stood outside the door, "What did I say about no protests?! EAT THE PILL ROY OR I'LL SHOVE IT DOWN YOUR THROAT!" She threatened. Arianna walked downstairs and picked up the phone dailaing the number for HQ, "Riza-san? The Colonel has a terrible cold and won't be coming in today. Yep...Can you hear the banging and shouting?" She asked pleasently. She laughed and said good-bye before hanging up. Arianna changed quickly and went into the kitchen deciding that she might as well make breakfast.
Soon she came upstairs holding a tray full of food, "Here's breakfast...And don't bother going to HQ because I already called Riza-san. And..." She spotted the pill on the beside table, "Didn't I tell you to eat the pill?!"

Arianna glared at Roy, "You know very well that I carry out my threats Roy. So I'll ask one more time nicely to eat it. If you don't..I'll shove it down your throat with tons of water." No move came from Roy as he sat in bed staring at the pill. Sighing Arianna put down the tray and rolling up her sleeves, "Fine." Pinning Roy to the bed she grabbed the pill and with some difficulty opened his mouth, popping the pill in. Keeping it open she raised her hand and water came crashing down ontop of Roy. She let go and smiled, "See? Wouldn't if have been easier if you just ate the pill without me having to to do that?"

"Please! Everyone needs to knocked down a few pegs now and then. And that wasn't only a pill to get rid of the cold, it was also to get rid of the combination of your breath! Disgusting! Smoke and alcohol! What is with you?! Now eat! Or do I need to shove that down your throat too?" She asked smiling holding out a plate for him.

Roy quieted down and grumbled but in the end, he ate the food without Arianna shoving it down his throat. He didn't want to know how getting food shoved down your throat felt.

Roy mumbled his thanks to Arianna and stood up again and walked to the door. It was still locked. "Arianna...why is my door locked?" He asked, although he was fully aware of the answer.

Arianna looked up from her plate and stared at Roy quizically as if she knew nothing, "Locked? I have nothing to do with it." She smiled as she finished eating. Walking over, the doorknob glowed slightly allowing her to go out. Quickly she closed the door behind her yelling her explanation, "You're not allowed to get up or out of that room. And you have that look in your eye when you want beer. Haven't you learned anything yet? And you're supposed to be a Colonel? Please..." She walked downstairs smiling to herself as she heard the banging on the door.

Roy banged on the door again. He rammed it. He sighed. She barred the door so it was impossible to break or get out. He tried to set the door on fire...it reflected it.
"AUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!" He paced around his room. He wasn't going to rest...he didn't need it.
Think Mustang, THINK!! THERE'S A PHONE IN YOUR ROOM!"
Roy picked up the reciever. It was dead. Arianna had cut the cord.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I HATE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Arianna laughed as she heard him scream, "Must have found out that the phone line is dead." She thought. She had tried to restore the couch to it's normal state, but it was impossible. She sighed, "Guess this means I'll have to go couch shopping." She walked upstairs and knocked on the door again, the noise behind it stopped, "Your couch is offically dead. I'm going couch shopping later." Before she walked down the stairs again, the memory of him proposing to her flodded into her head. She stopped and stood outside the door agian, "Why...did you propose to me in the first place?"

You can think of it as a joke if you want, but I'll always stay the same on my decesion. I love you Arianna. Arianna blushed and kneeled in front of the door unsure of what to say. TELL HIM YOU LOVE HIM!!
"NO! SHUT UP!" She screamed at her mind. A small laugh escaped her lips, "You liar..Stop...trying to fool my heart into making it love you again..." Another thought came into her mind, "If you claim you still love me..then why..Did we divorce? You're such an idiot Roy-kun..." She muttered trying to blink back tears.

Roy's eyes widened as Arianna charged in cursing and yelling at him, then groaning in pain as she kicked him in the shin...hard. He doubled over and put both hands to his shin, immediatly warming his injury up. But since he had a cold, and yet wouldn't admit it, his alchemy went out of hand setting his "warming temperature" to "burning hot"
"AUGH"

"SEE?! I KNEW you have a cold Roy! So hah!" Arianna pointed and laughed as Roy jumped around on one foot trying to cool down his ankle. Then she realized that it wasn't exactly a laughing matter. She sent another spout of water shooting towards Roy and he stopped in his tracks, soaking wet. Arianna couldn't help but laugh again at the face he was making.

Roy, being in drenched in water again, was a complete mess. He had a fit of sneezes,
Achoo...AChOO, ACHOOO!! He collapsed on the ground and warily looked at Arianna.
"I'm sorry...I know you'll never be able to forgive me. But...you seemed locked up when you were with me.."

Arianna frowned and kneeled down beside Roy feeling his forehead for a temperature, "You're right..I'll probably never forgive you. That's why I keep hurting you I guess...But you're wrong about being locked up when I was with you." She lifted her hand off his forehead and looked at him again, "I'm so sure you don't have a fever...You're burning up! Hold on...I think I have more medicine in my bag."

Roy felt himself growing warm as Arianna put her hand gently on his forehead.
"I...I'm so sorry Arianna..." A single small tear rolled down Roy's eyes. He quickly tried to wipe it away. But he felt so useless. Every part of his body was sore. A combination of stress and a cold. His head went back against the mattress and he breathed hard. Memories of his childhood flashed back as he gripped his head in pain.

Arianna searched her bag, "I'm so sure I had more pills...Where are they?! Dumping the whole contents out on the floor she realized that she had no more. She sighed and hurried to the kitchen to make Roy chicken noodle soup. "Mom always used to make it for me when I was little...And I got better in a matter of hours!"
"Roy-kun...I had no more medicine, so I made you chicken noddle sou-Wha?! What's wrong?! I should have asked if you liked chicken noodle soup first!! Ahhh!!!" Arianna exclaimed. Tears were rolling down Roy's face without a reason! Well...not any reason she could think about.

His head was killing him. He was so stupid...he only cared for himself. The flashbacks were getting more painful as he groaned in agony. "I...I'm so stupid...I'm so sorry Arianna...so sorry..." The tears just wouldn't stop falling.

Arianna calmed down and placed the soup on the table, "That sorry is a bit late...2 years late Roy." She sat on the bed beside him, "But...I'm glad you finally said it." She said smiling, "Now stop crying! Geez! What would the military say if they saw you right now?!"

Roy's body stopped trembling. His head was beating against his skull and it hurt like hell. Roy fell back against the bed going unconcious.

"Eh?! Roy!! Roy!!" Arianna cried gripping his shoulders as he passed out, "Roy!! Geez!!" She sighed and looked at him, "Why do you always pass out on me?" She leaned closer to his face, "You suck at being Colonel you know. You pass out after crying, and you're scared of water. Geez..." Arianna leaned ever closer until she could feel his soft breathing, "You're pathetic.." With that, her lips touched his.

Roy woke up an hour later. He sighed and saw Arianna had gone. There was a note left there:
"Roy, you better eat that chicken soup and STAY IN BED!! NO GETTING UP WHATSOEVER!! BECAUSE I'LL FIND OUT!!! I'm out for some fresh air.

Arianna sighed as she walked through the town. "What did I do?! Ugh...I feel...odd now."

"I am not!!" Finally she came across a bar on one of the side streets. She entered peeking her head in first. It looked pretty dark inside, as Arianna stepped in she gulped. Heads turned as she walked up the bar.
"Well, well, what do we have 'ere?" asked the bartender smiling. Arianna smiled weakly back, "What can I getja?"
"Wine please." Arianna said sitting down on the stool.
"No beer for the little lady?" Arianna shook her head and smiled slightly.
--A few bottles of Wine later--
"Give me another bottle!!!" Arianna said as she doused the 5th bottle down. The bartender merely shook his head, "Awww come on barkeep! Just for little ole me?"
"Naw lil missy...You best get out of here. Thinks you have enough wine. Go on home now." Arianna was led to the door and as it was shut behind her she looked up at the sun.
"Ehehehehe..It's soo purtty!" She stumbled back to Roy's house, having some dificultly getting the key in the keyhole. Finally when she did she stumbled inside collapsing on the floor, "I'm...home.." she mummbled into the floor before passing out.

Roy had finally figured out how to open the door. He sat in the kitchen drinking orange juice. A couple of hours later however, he heard Arianna come in, then a sudden, THUNK. Roy immediatly got up from the table and went to the entrance. What he saw...was not a pretty sight. Arianna was passed out on his living room...and smelled strongly of....wine?
"Oh lordy lord..."
He grabbed Arianna without any difficulty and put her on his back. He walked quickly to his bedroom and put her on his bed. Arianna was mumbling something he couldn't quite hear. He sighed and called Riza at HQ to tell her he WAS coming tomorrow, whether or not he had the cold. (which he said he didn't) He then turned and looked at Arianna.
Damn...she's passed out good...

Roy glared and brought a chair over to the bedside. He sat down and crossed his arms and stared at Arianna. He nodded off and on and finally went to sleep, sitting in a chair.

Arianna moaned as she rolled over onto her face. Her eyes opened a crack and she smell the wine on her breath. She made a face and tried to get up, but her body just wasn't coperating. She sighed and spotted Roy drifting off to sleep in a chair. Her face suddenly felt hot as she remembered what she had done. She groaned again and held the pillow to her face.

Roy, a light sleeper woke up when he heard Arianna moan. He stood up, stretched and went to the kitchen to make some tea and breakfast. He went back to the room and put the tea, muffin, and Alieve on the table.
"Arianna?" He said gruffly. "Once you're fully awake go ahead and drink the tea and eat the muffin. I'm going to work. There some Alieve beside the tea for your hangover." With that said, he stumbled out of the room, forgetting to shave, and forgetting to eat. He went to head quarters with a mound full of paperwork to do.Â
Sigh...the one day I'm gone....

Arianna woke up rubbing her eyes. She felt light headed but that was just about it. When she walked into the kitchen she realized that there was no warm hazelnut smell. She slapped her face and muttered something about how she going to kill him. After quickly eating, changing and brushing her teeth she rushed over to HQ with coffee. When she walked in she said a cheerfull good morning to everyone.
Getting to his office, she barged in without even waiting for an answer, "Roy! You idiot! You make me breakfast, but you don't even have a coffee?! And I bet you didn't even shave! Roy-, are you listiening to me?!" Arianna asked as she walked closer realized that he was sleeping...in a pile of paperwork no less! She poked his head and he shifted slightly but didn't move. She sighed and then clapped her hands. A spout of water splashed ontop of his head leaving him drenched again.

Roy jolted awake. And refocused his eyes. Amazingly, he was all wet but his paperwork was dry. He looked up and saw Arianna giving him the death glare. He put his hand to his face and felt the stubbles and warily looked at Arianna.
"Feeling better I see. Did you take the Alieve, drink the tea and eat the muffin like I requested?"

"I had the muffin and tea, but not the pill. I don't have major hang overs unlike you." Arianna said matter-of-factly as she handed him a coffee, "You didn't even have one and you forget to have breakfast and shave! Pif...Some Colonel. Sleeping in paperwork no less, how degrading." She said as she picked up some of the paperwork to read.

Roy gratefully took the coffee from Arianna. Hazulnut. He looked up at her. "It's amazing how much you know about me." Then in an undertone..."It gets a little scary sometimes too..." After he drank the coffee, he looked down in his uniform and sighed. It'll just have to dry. He wasn't going to use alchemy because he was still sick. Although he still wouldn't admit it. He shook off the insult that Arianna had given him and went back to his paperwork. Suddenly, he realized the one he was working on was missing. He looked up to see Arianna engaged in the paperwork as well.
Roy cleared his throat. "Arianna...the paperwork you're holding? I need it."

"I know so much about you because of my military skills dumb dumb." Arianna said walking around the office with the piece of paperwork. "I'm going to have so much when I get back.." she thought sighing mentally. Yet strangely, she missed it so much already.
"Arianna...the paperwork you're holding? I need it." Arianna waved her hand signaling him to wait, "There's a mistake here that you made. See what happens when you don't have breakfast?" she said underlining it.

She said looking it over quickly, "The whole page is wrong!!" She held out a hand as Roy tried to reach for the paper, "It is wrong! What were you thinking?! Look, you've got my name filled in on every blank name space. I'm flattered, but this is official paperwork." Arianna said underlining almost everything in the paper now.

Roy's faced turned an amazing red that the name "Fire Alchemist" suited him perfectly. He realized Arianna was right. On every blank space there was, he had written Arianna, over and over again. Roy groaned. And THIS just HAD to be the paperwork to King Bradley. Roy punched his desk.

Arianna placed it back on his desk and sighed, "I suggest you change it before sending it off. And don't hurt yourself while getting this done okay?" She said smiling slightly as she watched Roy pound his head onto the desk. Arianna picked up her bag and moved towards the door, but before she left she shot another plume of water onto Roy, "That was to wake you up. I'll be back later to check on you, I have to go couch shopping for you." Arianna said happily before closing the door behind her.

I may be the Fire Alchemist, and we're supposed to hate water...but ANYONE would be afraid of water after getting hit that many times a day with water.
He started to re-write the paperwork to King Bradley again. Mumbling and grumbling, lunchtime came and went. Roy dozed off and on but finally finished the paperwork. He double checked it to see he hadn't written Arianna over and over again. He let out a sigh of relief as he put that away. He leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes.
One day...when I'm Fuhur...all the women personel will be wearing miniskirts...

Arianna walked from shop to shop but couldn't find anything. Sighing, she turdged back to HQ, "Looks like I'll have to take another go at repairing it..." She mummbled. When she arrived back in Roy's office she collasped on the couch. Looking at his desk, a big mound of paper still overflowed it. She stood up and twichted, "Don't tell me he only got that one piece done!!" "Roy!! You only got that one paper done?! What is with you?! You should have hlaf of those done by noe! Roy!! Roy!"
She sighed and looked at him again. Looked like he was daydreaming about being Furhur again.

Roy was indeed dreaming about being Furhur again and he was having one helluva good time. He kept telling himself he had to get more done, but his dream mind wouldn't let him.
When you're Furhur, you don't have to deal with this low-life paperwork, so start preparing for it now... When you're Furhur, all the women will go even crazier for you. You smooth, suave, good looking charmer you.... In reality, and at present conditions, he was not smooth, suave and...well he WAS still goodlooking, but, he had stubbles, looked worn out, red-eyed, lack of sleep, not enough coffee and still sick Colonel.

Arianna walked up to his desk and looked at all the paper. She swear she could have seen something coming from his nose. She made a face, "I don't have a cold Arianna because I'm Colonel Roy Mustang" She muttered mimicking his voice, "I am so sure..."

Suddenly, the Colonel's head went foward and banged on his desk. Roy jolted awake and groaned painfully. He was oblivious to the fact Arianna was right there rolling her eyes at him. He started again to work on paperwork, but his hand was shaking and his signature came out all wrong. He pounded his fist on the desk and muttered.

"Ready to admit that you have a cold yet?" Arianna asked smiling putting her elbows on the table and leaning on them. Roy seemed frazelled, but then again, he had seemed like that for the past few days. Sighing she grabbed another piece of paper off the stack, "Let me help. At this rate, you'll never get this done."

Roy, his eyes unfocused looked upon Arianna. "I don't hav--I'm not sick." Roy replied adamantly. "I...I just tired is all." Use correct english you dolt! "I just tired" ? COMEON ROY!
Roy looked down at his paperwork and used white out on his signature and tried again. "There." he declared.

Arianna smiled as she filled out the paperwork, "What a lie...Just admit it." She looked up, "The great Colonel," she leaned closer, "Roy Mustang is..." she leaned in far enough so that she could feel his breath on her face, "Sick!" She stuck out her tounge and laughed, "Go on. The signs are all there!"

The, "Great Colonel Mustang" leaned foward ever so slightly, until his lips touched hers. They held the kiss, in passionate bliss until he leaned back.
"Never."

Arianna didn't know what happened next. First she was teasing him and then the next, he was kissing her. She stood speechless when he broke apart, and she could feel another blush rise in her cheeks. You liked that didn't you?
"No...."
Heh, then what's with the "..." At the end of the sentance?
She quickly snapped out of it and brandished the finished peace of paperwork at his face, "Let's finish this up Roy-kun!"

Roy nodded and smiled...just barely when he saw Arianna blush. He looked down and started trying to concentrate again.
An hour passes
Roy stood up and went to get more supplies. However, his walk was all jolty and haggard. He willed himself to keep going and to act nothing was wrong. He got the supplies with some difficulty and went back to his desk. Arianna had already done her stack and was waiting for him to finish.
Roy finally finished his last stack, stood up and motioned for Arianna to go on ahead.

Arianna sighed contentadly as she finished the last of her stack. She looked worried when Roy got up to walk, it didn't seem at all like his usual stride. She got even more worried when he told her to go on ahead, "Are you sure? You're still looking really pale. Maybe you should have stayed home today Roy." Arianna said worridly. Reluctantly though, she grabbed her bag and left back towards his house.

He watched her leave, and when the door closed, Roy stumbled back to his chair, got out a headache pill and ate it with water, with some difficulty. He was tidying paperwork up, when there was a sudden pang in his heart and he went BAM onto the floor, still holding paper in his hand.

Arianna looked up from her book and glanced at the clock. She frowned, it was late, and it couldn't take that long to do paperwork...Unless Roy was dreaming agian. Arianna sighed and grabbed a coat before heading back to HQ.
"Luckily the gate was still unlocked.." Though Arianna as she walked through the quiet hallways. She opened the door quietly as she reached the end of the hallway. From outside she could see the desk light filtering from under the door, "Roy, it's late, don't tell me you're dreaming about being Fur-," To her horrer, Roy was face down on the desk.

Roy was immense pain, every single part of his body was paralyzed and he couldn't move. He tried to make some sound...any sound, but he could make none.
So this is how I'm going to die...

Arianna clutched her jacket as the doctor looked over Roy's chart, "Will he be okay?" The doctor nodded and looked up,
"He'll be fine. It's mostly stress on the heart and a very bad cold." Arianna smiled slightly, "I TOLD Roy he had a cold, but no, he just doesn't want to listien."
"I'm sure he'll recover properly. Any guidelines that he'll have to follow when he gets back to his house?" She asked again figuring that there would be something that would upset him. The doctor nodded again,
"There will be no work for him for about a week, and-," Arianna and the doctor moved their heads quickly as a tray came hurtiling past their heads. Arianna smiled and waved,
"Nice to see you're awake Roy-kun."

"NO WORK FOR A WEEK?! SCREW THAT I'M GOING TO WORK TOMORROW!!!" He saw Arianna look at him sweetly...(the evil sweet) and the doctor adjusting his glasses.
"Ah..furthur more Mr. Mustang, during that time period, you won't be able to use your alchemy under any circumstances." Roy threw his heart monitor at the doctor.
"It isn't good to strain yourself sir. Or to lose your temper, it's bad for your heart."
"WHO SAYS I'M LOSING MY TEMPER!!?!?!" He thew a pillow at the doctor.
The doctor dodged and said, "J-just some advice, Colonel"

"Don't you dare move Roy Mustang!" Arianna said clapping her hands and a force of water pushed him back onto the bed. She walked over to him and pointing her finger at him as she spoke, "I TOLD you you had a cold didn't I? But Oh no! I'm Colonel Mustang! I never get sick!" She held up a hand as he tried to open his mouth, "And don't you go throwing things at the doctor. IT ISN'T HIS FAULT THAT YOU'RE SICK!"

"WELL I WANT TO YELL, BECAUSE HE JUST TOLD ME I COULDN'T GO TO WORK OR USE ALCHEMY FOR ONE WEEK!!!!!!! I'M NOT GOING TO STAND FOR THAT!!!" He stood up again and pushed passed the doctor.

"ROY MUSTANG! GET YOUR BUTT BACK INTO THAT BED!" Arianna screamed after him as he walked past both the doctor and herself. She took a deep breath and tried to calm herself; yelling wasn't going to help. She smiled sweetly and called down the hall, "I don't think it's wise for a Colonel to go wandering around the streets in a night gown." She saw him halt aburtadly in the hallway, "It would be very funny to see how your co-workers at HQ find it. Or maybe I could show it to the Furhur..." She saw him freeze and she knew she had him. "Blackmail always works..."

Roy looked at Arianna who was gleefully smiling at him and pointing a finger at the bed. Pursed lipped, and fist clenched he slowly made his way back to the bed. He then glared at Arianna.

Arianna smiled happily as he trudged back into the room. She nodded and laughed silently, she was good. Arianna smiled at the doctor, "Is there anything else that we should be worried about? Anything he should take?" The doctor gulped and nodded, fumbling a with something inside his jacket. He extracted a small pill box and handed it to Arianna,
"He'll have to take these pills twice a day. Once in the morning and once at night." Arianna smiled gracisouly as the doctor hurried out of the room. She sighed and collapsed onto the chair beside Roy's bed. She opened an eye and looked at him,
"Hear that? Now you HAVE to take the pills."

Roy glared at the doctor, "YOU NUT CASE DOCTOR!!!!!!!! DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING TO ME!?!?!??" Roy screamed. The doctor, already halfway down the hallway managed to yell, "Yes sir, I'm trying to get you to relax."
Roy yelled back, "THIS ISN'T HELPING! I DON'T WANT NOR NEED PILLS! YOU HEAR!?!?!?"

Arianna heaved herself up from the chair and walked over to his bed. She stared at him a minute before flicking him painfully right in the forehead, "You idiot! Don't go yelling at the docotor! IT'S NOT HIS FAULT!" Arianna said yelling the last phrase out. She flicked him again, "You will take those pills and you will follow the orders the doctor gave you. Got it?" Arianna asked.

Roy flinched painfully as Arianna flicked him on the forehead. He rubbed his head.

Roy glared at Arianna, he glared at the pills, and he glared at the doorway. He then said, "NO I will not take those pills, and I will not follow orders FROM SOME CRACK HEAD DOCTOR! GOT THAT?"

"Calm down...Don't get mad over this. Don't lose your temper.." Arianna glared at Roy finally losing it, "You know what? I don't appreciate you calling a doctor a "crack head". Think about this way, Roy Boy, if I were the doctor and you called me a crack head; the next time you came in dying or bleeding to death, I wouldn't care. I would make sure you die." Arianna grinned flicking him again, "Got it? Take those pills or else.."

"ROY BOY?!?!? DON'T CALL ME ROY BOY!!! AND BESIDES, THAT'S THE REASON WHY YOU'RE NOT A DOCTOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Just then the doctor came in rather fragile. "Uh...C--Colonel...Mmmmustang?"
"WHAT NOW! COME TO ISSUE MORE STUPID REQUESTS?!?!?"
The doctor gulped and took a step back. "I...um...we..you see, we..."
"GET ON WITH IT!"
"We diagnosed your illness sir. Part of it IS from a very bad cold, but the other half is PTSD...Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder."
Roy just glared at the man.
"T-...that's why...you're...not....going to be able to work...for...a month, now.."
"WHAT!!"
"And...S--sir...those outburts aren't good for your disorder.."Â WIth that said, the doctor ran out of the room.
"A DISORDER?!!?!?!? Y#*&@^#*&^*"Â Roy yelled.

"STOP YELLING AT THE DOCTOR! IT IS NOT HIS FAULT YOU'RE SICK AND HAH I TOLD YOU SO! You have a cold! I win. So hah! That's what you get; no work for a month. Imagine the paperwork!!!" Arianna exclaimed throwing her hands up in the air as she walked back to the chair. She sighed as she sat down again. "And it's rude to cuss at the doctor. Which reminds me...It's night now. Take your pill." Arianna said getting up. She opened the pill box and shoved the pill in his mouth as he tried to say something. The pill was soon followed by a stream of water.

Roy, furiously mad and reduced to a Colonel without work was speechless. A STRESS DISORDER? HIM? THE PAPERWORK! Roy took his pillow and screamed into it. "AUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH H!!!!!!!!" After 10 minutes of nonstop screaming, his voice was hoarse. He glared up at Arianna. "Why don't you just go back to my place now and leave me be?"

Arianna looked up blanky from her book and removed the cotton from her ears, "Oh, are you done screaming yet?" He glared at her and she smiled putting her book away, "Fine, fine I'll leave you alone. You know what I'll be thinking of tonight when I lay in bed?" She smiled again, "You being a Colonel for the rest of your military career because you missed a month of work." She stuck out her tounge and laughed, "I like the sound of that! I'll come get you tomorrow morning. If I hear anything about you acting up, you're getting it when I come to get you." Arianna threatened before leaving the room chuckling to herself.

Roy's mouth dropped open. She's right...because of this...I WON'T EVER GET TO BE FURHUR!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Roy sighed, then a sudden idea struck him. " I don't need to be here...I can just get out of here, and check into a hotel...."

Roy finally snuck out of the hospital and checked into the nearest hotel he could reach by foot. After that, he walked to the nearest bar. This was one of those bars where they didn't care how much you drank, as long as you payed.Â
-10 bottles of beer later, he was ranting (and with another girl).-

She groaned again, "Ms.Mitchell? Umm..sorry to call you so late. But..the Colonel has gone missing." Arianna's eyes shot open and then narrowed. When she got her hands on his little neck...

Roy swiveled in his swivel chair which made him dizzier. With his acute hearing, he heard a familar voice by the hotel he checked in.
Did a man named Roy Mustang check in here?
Why, yes he did.
Where is he now?
That bar right next to us.
Then he saw the figure looming closer to the bar. He rolled his eyes and chuckled. Another woman.
"'Nother beer please" Roy said, getting his hands on his 21st beer.

Arianna spotted Roy spinning around in a chair at the bar...With another women beside him. "Oh god...This man is ridiculus..How can women like him when he's drunk!?" She thought in her head. She smiled her thanks to the man at the desk walked over to the bar. Her smile turned into a frown as she got closer to him. Finally reaching him she turned his chair around almost making him choke on the beer, "You IDIOT! I can't believe you! Running away from the hospital just because you can't go to work for 2 months?!" She exclaimed taking the beer away from him and putting on the bar.
The women had run away scared to another table. Arianna glared at Roy as he grinned lopsided at her, "How many beers have you had?" He didn't answer so she dumped another lot of water ontop of him. Still nothing. She slapped her face, "He had 20 beers..." "You had 20 beers didn't you?"

Roy smiled his drunk grin at this lady. "HOWDY PRETTY LADY!! DO I KNOW YOU??? NAH, NOT 20!! 21!!!! HAHAHHAHAHHA PRETTY CLOSE THOUGH!!"

Arianna glared at Roy.

"You idiot! Why did you run away from the hospital!? You're sick for heaven's sake!" Arianna exclaimed again withdrawing her hand. She glanced at the big red hand mark and tried not to laugh.

Roy's head turned sideways as the painfully hard slap came on his face. "OWWW!! WHATCHOO DO THAT FOR?! I DUN'T EVEN KNOW YOU!!!!"

Arianna drew a breath, "You know what?! You're right! I make sure not to assosiate myself with idiots like you!" She flicked him in the forehead before stalking out of the bar and onto the street. "I don't care if he dies! It's his fault for not talking the stupid pill anyway!"

Roy swivled in his chair one last time before going back to the hotel. "Tomorrow," he declared, "I'll go back to my nice home..." Roy collapsed on the bed and was instantly asleep.
-The next morning.-
Roy trudged to the nearest clothing shop and bought a black suit, a white dress shirt, black dress shoes, and a red tie. He changed in the dressing room at the store. He wanted to look nice, although he had no reason why. He hailed a taxi and went back to his house. He entered and saw that Arianna's bag was gone....
"Oh...God...what did I do..." He hurridly went back out and started searching everywhere for her. Excpet...the hospital.

"I swear, I checked all the hotels in the area. Yup...He didn't check into any of them." Arianna said into the phone and crossing off something on a checkboard. Her bag stood beside her and she smiled, what she was doing was mean...But she was mad.
"Ms.Mitchell, we looked down at the harbor, he's not there." Arianna nodded and half hazardly crossed "harbor" off the list. It crossed her mind blanky to wonder where and what Roy was doing now. Was he still drunk and not notice her bag gone? "Whatever." she thought shrugging as she crossed another place off the list.

Roy looked everywhere he could think of in his current state, for Arianna. He trudged along, loosening his tie and took of his jacket. The heat was getting to him, and he felt oddly faint. He was loosing conciousness and fast. Finally, a single solution came into his head.
Just check back into the hospital.
That single clear thought propelled him to the hospital steps. He warily opened the doors, gasped, and then lost all conciousness. His body fell foward; his head hitting the tile floor first. Roy Mustang, lay unconcious.
There was a flurry of movement right away as the Colonel fainted. Doctors and nurses hurried to his side to aid them. One of them called Ms.Mitchell.

Arianna heard a clutter of movement rush towards the door, and of the doctor's called her name. She rushed over to see what was wrong and took an intake of breath as she saw Roy face down on the floor. She sighed and shook her head rushing back to phone, "Call off the search. He came back to hospital...He's out cold right now so we're not sure. I'll get back to you as soon as I find out." She spoke quickly before hanging up and rushing after Roy and the doctors.

One of the doctors knelt beside the Colonel and checked his pulse. "We should put him in the Intensive Care Unit! I think he may be in a coma! Hurry!" With the order issued, 2 of the male doctors carried Roy and put him on a stretcher. The doctor who had checked his pulse turned to Arianna.
"He may not make it through ma'am." The doctor said solemnly. "It looks like he was intoxicated and he was already in the hospital. Him running out like this and drinking... god knows how many bottles, and him having the stress disorder and cold is very bad for his heart."

"21 bottles of beer to be exact." Arianna told the doctor who looked even more shocked, "Roy's tough, he won't die, not until he reaches his idiotic dream of becoming Furhur." Arianna muttered to no one inparticular, "But he's too stubborn to admit anything is wrong with him. Idiot..." She crossed her arms and leaned against a wall. Don't you care a little bit?
"Not particulary...Not now."
That's a lie.

Colonel Roy Mustang was in a hospital room once again. Although this time, he could not fuss, or make any noise whatsoever. He was in a coma. And in a coma, one can only talk to one's self.
Hey Mustang...wake UP!

Arianna walked into the hospital room where they were keeping Roy. She sat beside the bed in a chair and looked at his chest rising slowly and falling again. Arianna closed her eyes and sighed leaning back in the chair, "Why do you cause me so much grief Roy-kun? It makes no sence to me. You wouldn't let a coma get you down. You're so cocky headed, nothing could keep you from getting to that idiotic dream." She got up and kneeled next to the bed talking into the sheets, "Look at you, you're a vegetable! By the time you wake up, I'll bet there'll be a new Furhur." She took a breath, "Just...just wake up okay?" she asked quietly as a single tear fell on her cheek.

Suddenly, his eyes flew opened and his heart monitor started beeping regular again. Beads of sweat poured down and he was breathing hard.

Arianna's head popped up when she heard the heart monitor in a steady beat. She quickly wiped away the tear and flung her arms around Roy, "You idiot...You big idiot! I bet you won't be able to go to work for 4 months now!" She exclaimed. It suddenly dawned on her what she was doing, quickly she pulled away and hurridly sat in chair, "Good thing you decided to wake up. There was going to be a new Furhur otherwise. A much better Furhur than you would ever be."

Roy blushed slightly as he felt Arianna's warm body against his.
"Heh...they're not going to keep me in here for 4 months, at least, not if I can help it...A Furhur better than ME? Arianna sweetie, you gotta be kidding me." Roy said weakly.

"As if! Anyone would make a better a Furhur than you. Don't brag Roy." Arianna scoffed sticking her nose up in the air, "And what did I say about calling me sweetie?!" Arianna asked again glaring.

Roy smiled softly as he jumped out of bed. Just as he did, the doctor walked in.
"Ah, Mr. Mustang, I see you're awake...where do you think you're going?"
"Home, and then work."
The doctor chuckled. "You're such a joker Mr. Mustang."
"....Why do people keep on thinking that I joke when I don't?"
"Well anyways sir, you're not to leave this hospital for...2 months. No alchemy during that time because of the fact of your disorder and coma and cold, your alchemy may get out of hand."
"....You got to be kidding me."
"I do kid sir, but unforunatly for you, I'm not kidding right now when I say this. I'm sure Miss Mitchell here will take good care of you when you DO get out of the hospital."

Arianna laughed, now not only would he not be at work for 2 months, but he would but in the hospital for 2 months. She saw Roy glare at her and she stuck out her tounge in response, "You fault Roy."
"I'm sure Miss Mitchell here will take good care of you when you DO get out of the hospital." Arianna looked up at the doctor, "Oh...I don't intend to stay here that long. I'm supposed to be leaving a few weeks."

"Oh?" The doctor and Roy said in unison. Roy sat up a little straighter. "Arianna? Here." He handed here a note with the official seal on it.

Arianna looked at the note and recognized that the seal of the Furhur. She hesitated before taking it, "What's inside it Roy?" She fumbled with the note and opened the letter reading the contents.
Dear Gentle Alchemist,
I am pleased to tell you, that you have been transferred to the East HQ office. Your accpetance will be needed. Please call my central office as soon as you can. Congradulations once again.

Her eyes widened and a smile spread onto her face. This was it...the transfer that she had been waiting for for 3 years! She hugged the note to her chest and smiled, wait unitil father heard the news.

A slow smile appeared on Roy's lips as he saw Arianna beam with happiness. He could tell she was trying to hide it though. "Happy with your transfer Arianna?" Roy leaned back and put his arms behind his head and closed his eyes with the smile still on his lips.

Arianna re-read the letter over again and realized that she was getting transferred to East HQ.
Why so glum? You got the promotion you were waiting for, and you're going to be with Roy boy.
"That's the problem...I won't be able to work there if he's there."
She nodded and shoved the letter into her bag, "I'll come back later to check on you. I need...air." Frowning she left the hospital walking towards the harbor.

Roy frowned slightly as he opened his eyes. He arched his eyebrows as he saw Arianna leaving toward the harbor. What's wrong with her? One minute, she's bursting with pride, the next she looks like someone died.
East HQ...Roy, it means she's working with you.

...Do you also remember she's your ex? You two aren't newly weds. You're divorced.

Arianna sat on the horbor facing the water and holding the letter. This was almost as good as a promotion..It ment that she was on the consideration of being promoted. She smiled slightly but then read "East HQ" again.
Are you going to let a guy get in the way of your career?!
"No...I don't know! I want this promotion so much...But..He's there!" She groaned and flopped back on her back. She stared at the sky and sighed, "What should I do..?"

Roy stared up at the flourecent hospital lights. He sighed. He couldn't believe what he heard from his own head. Did Arianna really hate him that much? Roy knew her job was the only thing that mattered to her. Well...somewhat like him he supposed, but much less...cocky about it. One thought kept circling his head.
Will she take the job?

Arianna stared at the clear blue sky, that soon clouded over and threated to drench her with fat raindrops. She stood up and brushed herself off clutching the letter.
Going back to the hospital?
"No...I'm going back to Roy's house."
Why aren't you going to tell Roy about what you're going to do?
"He doesn't need to be included in every aspect of my life you know!" As she walked she mentally tried to block out her thoughts and soon the rain started to fall. She sighed and continued walking back to his house. She trudged up the stairs and collasped on the bed still holding the soggy letter in her hand before she fell asleep.

Roy looked at the clock in the corner of his room in the hospital. It had been hours since Arianna had left to the harbor. He shifted in his bed and sighed. "No use trying to find her. I should just leave her alone." He said to no one in particular. He made himself comfortable on the wire bed and fell asleep. Arianna, in his thoughts.

Arianna woke up the next morning and looked around the room dazed. Then she spotted the letter again and she sighed. In her sleep she had gone over exactly what she was going to do. She just had to make sure Roy agreed. She changed quickly and rushed down to the hospital. Peeking her head into Roy's room she smiled and greeted him, "Nice to see you didn't try to run away again." She grabbed the chair and moved it closer to the bed. Arianna then extracted the note from her bag, "I am going to take this job. But...I will not if you don't promise me something first."

Roy sat up straighter, a little grouchy. "What happened to 'Good morning'?" But seeing the seriousness of her face, he crossed his arms and arched his eyebrows. "What is it?"

Arianna breathed in and a look of seriousness came over her face, "I will only take this job if you promise me you will forget everything that ever happened between us." She clutched the letter, "We can still talk occasionally because well...I will be working under you. But, you have to promise me that. We can never be anything more than co-workers. As you think that your job is the most important thing to you, you of all people should understand."

Roy, immediatly set to agree, but then hesitated at one thing she said: We can never be anything more than co-workers The Colonel's face drained of its remaining color as he leaned back on the bed. He sighed and rubbed his now freshly shaven face. He came to a conclusion. He looked back at Arianna and gave her a small smile. "Alright Arianna. I promise."

Arianna's face broke into a smile, That went over MUCH easier than I thought it would.
"No kidding..." "Thank-you so much for understanding. I'll have to go call the Furhur to tell him I will be taking the job." She hugged him quickly and rushed for the door. Arianna quickly popped her head back into the room, "I'll see you in 2 months." She said as she saluted Roy. Arianna smiled and rushed away down the hall.
You sure you wanna do that?
"Yes. I've already made up my mind. It's the best thing to do."

Roy collapsed back into bed with his hands over his face. Did I make the right choice? Is this all worth it? Roy sighed, and took his hands off and then a small smirk came from him. There's one good thing...I AM her boss...

--2 Months Later--
Arianna stood on the steps in front of East HQ, her new office. She smiled and laughed at something one of her new co-workers said. It had been two months since she last saw Roy. Only occasionally did she see him. Most of the time it was in the work place, but then again that was the way she wanted it. A slight wind blew and she brushed her hair behing her air spotting a figure watching from a distance across the steps. Arianna smiled slightly as she looked over, raising her hand to wave. Then she held out her pinky and mouthed the word, "Promise?"
"See you later Ari." Arianna waved good-bye and walked slowly towards Roy.

Roy stood on the steps and leaned on the pillar, his hands in his pocket. He kept his word, no matter how hard and painful it was for him. He saw Arianna smiling and then...and then she saw him. He saw her wave her hand and he raised his hand in return. Then she did what Roy thought was partly the unthinkable. She started walking toward him.

Arianna smiled as she got closer to Roy, "How have you been Colonel? I see you have learned your lesson taking pills when you get sick hmmm?" Arianna held the file that she holding tightly to her chest, although she wasn't quite sure why, "Also wonderful to see you have kept to our promise."

Roy chuckled as he looked up at the sky. "Captain...no, Arianna. I want to ask you something. Not as a Colonel to a Captain. But...as Roy and Arianna. Why did you make me promise you that?" Roy looked down at her. "It..was one of the hardest things I have ever done. But...why..why that?"

Arianna's serious face never faltered, "Why? Your work is the most important thing for you. And if you ever had a relationship with someone like me, it wouldn't exactly work would it?" She smiled slightly, "And I was never the right girl for you. Besides..You already have one, but you're just too blind to see who it is. If you don't find her soon I'll be very mad." Arianna grinned, "That answer good enough for you? And one of the hardest things you're ever done? Pif...So much for being a Colonel."

The Colonel smirked and just shook his head. "That's why I'm not going to be a Colonel for long. Promotion shouldn't be long in the coming" Roy gave Arianna a casual salute and started walking down the steps. When he reached the bottom, he didn't stop, nor turn around, but he said to her, "Good luck with your life...Captain Mitchell."

Arianna smiled and rememberd something that she had been wanting to ask him, "Colonel! Did you happen to get the memo from Furhur? I changed my name." A puzzeled look came over Roy's face, and Arianna smiled, "I asked to get it changed..."Gentle" seemed like just an image that everyone thought of when I first meet them. So I asked him if I could change it..." She smiled, "My new name is the Hopefull Alchemist." Arianna saluted again and smiled, "Same to you Colonel Mustang. I wish you the best." With that she hurried into the building again. Files were going to sort themselves...

That's it..We're done..XD I think that was fun. Coming up with Roy having an ex-wife and all. Hope you all enjoyed reading it ^_^ We were debating wether or not to have them get back together, but in the end we both though it would be best to not to have them back together.
