Title: Avatar and Signature Guidelines
Post by: Little Wolf on April 15 2005, 06:15 pm
Avatar and Signature Guidelines:

Please check your avatars and sigs. We're not very strict though when it comes to the file size or height of the signature so it's okay if you exceed with an extra 5 KB or 10 pixels. These are just guidelines.

There'll be no punishment but an admin or mod might warn you so I advise everyone to read and follow this. It's here to keep this forum a clean and organized place for all fans. :)

isn't it that if you use a sign bigger than the given size then it will be shunk by itself according to the limit? that way we won't really have to care much about its size.
I hope mine are all under the rules because i hadn't read these before.

Its not so much display size (as this is adjusted) - its file size, the full size image still has to be retrived.

Avatar and Signature Guidelines:
  • Maximum avatar size is 100 x 100 pixels and 50 KB.
  • Each of your signature images should not be wider than 400 pixels or taller than 200 pixels.
  • Your whole signature's height should not be greater than 300 pixels so it's recommended you use only 1 large sig image.
  • Total size of signature images must not exceed 200 KB.
  • No BMP images please. Please optimize your images to JPEG and GIF formats. PNGs are allowed as long as you consider the maximum file size limits.

I'm bumping this up so that those new to the forum plus all existing members know about the size limits of signatures here. Most are starting to become borderline and we've been pretty easy-going with it for now. That could change soon...

Takes note on his own signature. Well then. It looks like I need to recreate me signature and probably avatar by tonight. It exceeds the file size limit it seems.

Mine is ok, I think....the picture's height is exactly 200px and the the width is 304px.
Title: Re: Avatar and Signature Guidelines
Post by: HatoriTakaya on December 14 2007, 02:35 pm
That's good for you. From memory, my avatar is around 80 pixel region, size is around 80 to 100 kb. Signature is around 100x 200 to 200x400 pixels but is around 1 mb in size. Which is approxiamately 800kb above the set limit. >_> I wondering if I can get away with it.

O_O That's a lot. Mine is 31kb in filesize.

Yeah, it bigger depending what you make signature to be. So my Signature is based on X.a.l.t./TV series. I think or was it Tokyo Babylon. Anyway, it's a motion signature as you know and was my first so it is big when I think about it. So yeah, I need to recreate a smaller size one of make a completely different one. Otherwise I'll just leave the avatar there since it's small enough to be loaded quickly.

Tokyo Babylon? So I'm assuming that's Subaru-san in the water...

Yep. You got that right. It's Subaru-San and he looks kind of similar to Touya in Card Captor Sakura if you think about it.

bumping this topic.

Some people need to reduce the size of their signatures ASAP. If not I will personally go on a cleaning run :D

Also to add, though the site auto-adjusts the pictures, they are posted in their original picture size. Don't be fooled by that. One of my sites limits the sig pics to 150 pixels in height and no larger than 200 kb. Avatars are 80 x 80 and 50 kb...very similar to this place. Want a good example of this...look at mine :)

Notice! Max image size width increased to 500 pixels! Feel free to fatten your signature. =)

If you're wondering how much extra real estate that 100 pixels gives you, my new signature image conforms exactly to the restrictions.

I'd also like to remind everyone that the max vertical signature height (meaning, up and down) is 300 pixels, including text. There isn't much limit length-wise, so feel free to use the table command to expand your signature horizontally, but please, please make your signatures shorter, otherwise the administrators will be forced to shrink your signature for you.

Honana~!

Ok, its been brought to my attention that there is a lot of people with massive (and I mean massive) signatures
Those people should know who they are, if signatures aren't made smaller within a day, I will personally be doing something about it.

The warning is out.

Way to steal my spotlight, Li. XDD

If no one knows what 300 pixels looks like, here's an example:

Remember boys and girls, this includes text. And it only restricts height-wise, up and down. If it's bigger than this, you may or may not feel the burn of Li's wrath. And if you do, rest assured I will not be treating your burns.

Your toast will be burnt, and no amount of scratching will remove the black stuff!!

Now I want a new siggy :P

Anyway, why the change in siggy size?

My signature is a perfect 150 pixels in height, as are all of mine that I use (TOKYOPOP rules)

Your signature is also quite pixelated. It looks like it was either stretched horizontally or squeezed vertically. Now's a good time to up the resolution of your signature, if you so desire.

I was actually... "inspired"... by Arcademan. Not to mention I felt he needed a rival. So I am, officially, the Master Artisan, Grand Marshal of Clow. In fact, SLi's going to change my member group for me so that it reflects this new self-imposed title! How's that for official? BWAHAHAH. Nah, I wish. It's just a parody. Hope you don't mind, ol' Arcadey ol' pal ol' buddy o' mine. =)

*listens to heroic music as he prepares to wage war against the forces of the Warlord of Clow*

P.S. Yes, this is an intentional double-post. Consider the date between this post and my last post to understand why I think it's necessary.

Majority of people did do this; and I havent' seen any signatures that are in violation so far - if ya do find one please let me know, odd's are I probably missed a few.

Both of you as moderators need to PM those who are in violation of the signature rule. If they don't, they'll lose that privilege.

See. Simple.
