Title: Forum Rules
Post by: Little Wolf on February 12 2006, 04:37 am
Here are the rules every member of this forum has to know and follow. I'm asking everyone to take a few minutes to read the whole page. I know it's long but if you want to help keep this place a nice and fun community, the first thing you have to do is read and understand the rules described on the following page:

http://www.capturedwings.net/forums/board-rules.html

Feel free to post any questions regarding the rules on this topic. Thank you for the cooperation. :)

Though this isn't directly regarding the rules themselves, wouldn't it make sense to make this link part of the tools at the top near "profle" and "calendar" and those buttons, so that members could easily spot it?

And of course, I'll do my best to follow them to the letter. ^_^

Rules sound fair and I completely agree with them. I'll make sure to follow them with the best of my ability. Hope this will keep the forum a happy community!

^ Of course you do. :D

Only 39 views? but we have over a thousand members already!

Yes, I've thought of that. I just need to make a button for it. Thanks for the suggestion. :)

I'm probably 5 of those views. If somebody doesn't follow the rules and say they didn't know about, they have only themselves to blame

Just wondering... when does a discussion classify as 'political'? I know what it can lead to if you start a topic asking what people vote for and why, but it is allowed to, say, discuss big world events? I just think 'political' is a very floating term...

The definition of 'political discussion' is that which covers talk about world and national political conversations. We really don't want people here starting debates on how the president is running or ruining the country or why people agree or disagree on foreign policies set by their government. The administration feels those type of discussions have no place here in CapturedWings.

Now asking about who voted for a new icon, banner or any similar thing thiat is associated with forum business...that's allowed (though I seldom reveal who I voted for: votes are a sacred ritual to me...)

2. Do Not Impersonate
Impersonating any of the CapturedWings Forum staff, the CLAMP women, or any other member is strictly prohibited.

What's not to understand? Seems self explanatory to me. I'd really hate if someone started using a name of someone already here. It can happen...I've seen it in other forums and it's usually not a pretty thing. They'd use a variation of a name of somebody already here nad cause mischief, thus ruining that person's reputation.

It's a rarity but it can happen, which is why the rule was added.

I really agree with the terms. I will do my best to follow them. ^_^

About "Political discussions":

We will allow discussions regarding current events as long as it doesn't center on government issues. For example, a topic about the Indian Ocean tsunami is just fine but a discussion like America vs. Middle East is not permitted.

Thank you to those who have already read the rules page. :)
I modified the topic title to make it look more.. um, compelling.

I read the rules and I completely agree with them. I only have a little question

Is it posible for you to write in another language in the forums, even if you write a translation?

For example:

Hola!! How are you guys doing?

Translation: hola¨¨hello

Pretty wanted to know why the rule is there and not the actual rule itself. OY!

Much is what you said...appearances purposes. Using a whole mess of them really doesn't say much about a post, especially those who are really happy about something and instead of saying that decides to print out tons of emoticons...tacky.

With that said, not knowing if it's possible here, in a few forums, they have placed a program that allows for no more than 3-5 emoticons per post. That may be a solution to that rule if it can be done.

One question that I need to ask, because it seems that I do it to often, is how many posts am I allowed up to when talking to another person before it becomes one on one? Could you give me an idea so I won't do it again? Hope this makes sense.  :sweatdrop:

A good answer to that...when the conversation between two becomes just that. When someone posts a message, then the other answers back within a minute or so, then that in turn is answered in the same amount of time, usually by that time, unless someone else posts, that's when the discussion should go either to PM, email or our new chatroom...moreso if the posts become more of a personal thing rather than an informative post. A moderator of a sub-forum or administrator may also drop a hint on when it starts to become excessive.

With all that said, we don't want to stop or prevent members from knowing one another or any of that. The more friends you make and the easement of topics and discussions, the more that will make everyone happy.

Quoted for truth.

Couldn't of said it better myself.
Thanks Arcademan.

That's actually a pretty good idea. We've had many members join who don't read the rules and end up breaking them.

um, to be honest, i thought they're a bit intimidating at first, especially the text message writing one. (lol) but don't mind me, i can manage.

a question: is it okay if all of my posts are in lower case? i tend not to capitalize the 'i's and the first word of each sentence. just for clarification.

Nothing in the rules.

But its good grammar to right things the right way, as it makes it easier to read for a lot of us.
(Especially to those that do write things properly)

Some people may not like it, just be warned.

erm, i need to confess something. ive been here for like less than 3 yrs, but this is the first time i read that and this IS my 3rd comeback already
im terribly sorry ^^"
Oh well. Better late than never! : D

Anyway. boy, this place, sure is strict, well-defined rules .. but i love it! at least there won't be any spamming around

i second the suggestion of somebody in the prev page. the one which says you should place the rules somewhere the new ones would read easily ^^"
