OO I love American Idol! I've been watching it since the 3rd season. It's great and the auditions are so funny!

Go Paula! ^^ Paula is my favorite judge. She's so sweet.

I
HATE
THIS
SHOW

It's just a blatent rip off, of the UK show Pop Idol, and I hated that show too. It's a crap show where rubbish singers try to get recognised and even more crappy singers go on there just for a laugh. It's totally pathetic. I hate it with a passion.

I'm not sure how far behind we are to American audiences, but I just saw this episode where this guy sang the Jigglypuff song and it really freaked me out. >.>
I only watch the audition shows, it sounds cruel, but they have the most entertainment. xD

I agree with VexNet. Idol, popstar....argh. Rubbish... In Finland there have been two seasons and I haven't watched any episode and every my friend thinks that I'm that I'm not watching Idol show...Blah. But I know almost everything about serie because:
* my friends talk about it
* tv  and radio and internet is full of it  (yeah, they show even American Idol in here too....)
arrghh...Well I'm not blame that if someone like to watch Idol but my opinion is this that I don't like these kind of "let's-find-new--da-ultimate-pop-singer" programmers... T_____T Ugh, Sabrina has spoken.

Humiliation television. What's so funny about seeing a bunch of attention seekers being dissed by some arrogant judges? Well, I can understand that people thinks it's funny (even though I don't) when there's someone who absolutely can't sing and should be able to realize that by themselves, but how can one laugh when people actually starts crying because of the mean things they're told? Sure, they know about the risk when they willingly enter the audition, but nevertheless I cannot see the quality of this show.

Then again, of course people must be free to watch whatever they like,  but then it should work the other way around too. Just like Sabrina, I never watch the show, but it haunts me wherever I go anyway. It's in the news bills whenever I go outside, on the telly whenever I watch it... Damnation! I think I'm just going to be a recluse.

There. I've gotten some frustration off my chest. You may all continue your discussion.

Yay! We finally agree with something!!! :D

Now that's out of the way, feel free to talk about the show and though negative comments on the people who appear on the show is allowed, negative comments toward the people who watch the show aren't allowed. So for those who watch this craptacular show...GO FOR IT!!! :)

UK Pop Idol?
Pop Idol came out in the UK first, then Americans decided to take that show and just change the name from Pop to American.

Yay! We finally agree with something!!! :D
meh, I agree with you on most things.

Ok i am aware that some like the show and some hate it.  For me, the show is not that bad at least they tried to find good singing talents from city to city.  For the people who can't sing and go audition at least they did go and give it a try than living in regret for not trying anything.

The worse part of the show...why do they even bother with the losers who's only goal is to try and grab some attention for themselves because they have absolutely ZERO talent...and they know that!

^ Yeah... but when they get the really good singers on there it gets really interesting.

Especially during the top 12 when you start to like certain contestants and you really like them. That's the fun part for me.

I dislike the reason for the show, because of the comparisons and prejudices that affect the voting.  People go up there and are made fun of and humiliated and generally ridiculed.

I do, however, like the fact that several young artists who might have never had a chance normally are discovered and can do what they love the most.

So I'm an iffy.

If you have no cable and live somewhere in Chicagoland I can savely say it's on chanel 32. :nods:

I find it very entertaining, not half as good as American inventor, but American Idol is decent reality comedy.

Pop Idol came to America courtesy of Simon Cowell & Simon Fuller. They went to a small station but they rejected it, they went to CBS and they said no because it was a music show. Then that guy who's head of FOX's daughter was a fan of Pop Idol and recommended it to her father. Rest is history.
Read Simon Cowell's biography. That's my basic source for this stuff.

Hyuuu... I like this show. And yes, GO CHRIS!!!!!!

I like the show not because of all those attention seekers, but I like to see how singers improve themselves. Of course, the auditions can be hard to go through... but they are funny. And sometimes there will be people who don't deserve to be in the top 24 or less. But yeah... there will always be that one or two who will catch my attention and I like to see how they "grow" (that is, if they can of course... I know there are those who can never seem to improve).

Anyway, again... GO CHRIS!!!
