Title: Future Changes to the board
Post by: D.J.P on June 25 2005, 10:14 am
Just thought I would post about a couple of changes coming this way shortly.

1: I've noticed their are a lot of unactivated accounts. Due to this on the first day of the month any unactivated accounts will be purged.
So If you sign up, be sure to active your account A.S.A.P (As Soon As Possible)

2: The Chains Board:
    - At the start of next month (1st July) the chain board will be purged as-well. After that it will be purged at a semi-regular basis (exact time frame still to be decided).

Feel free to recreate them.

I was planning to clear all but the first post of a topic, but I can't figure out an easy way.

How about instead of clearng the whole thread, just clear everything but the first post, telling how to play, and the most current page?

Seems like a lot of work to make all those topics over again.

Actually considering the size of the posts in there, its actually harder to delete all but one.

But I'll have another look later today, might still be able to figure out a way

Copy  the first message, then delete the thread. Re-create the thread and paste the first post back up.

See. Simple :D

Cool. Sometimes we think of the hardest way to do things when it's usually the simplest way that gets the job done

*thinks about that really hard* Oh yeah I do that sometimes.... and speaking of the nobody's perfect thing, I see these people saying, 'Nobody's perfect. Popular people say I'm Nobody. I'm perfect!' Funy how that works out, lol.

so, unactivated accounts will be deleted? Will it be the first day of every month, or just the next month?

The first day of the next month will clear current unactived accounts.

Then I'll write up a script that will delete unactived accounts 30 days after each is created.
(since this forum software doesn't include that kind of function)

(OT: The phrase is: Nobody is perfect, I'm nobody, there for I'm perfect)

I like the unactivated accounts deleted idea. I don't like it whenever I see a MB with lots of members that never come here. It would be a waste of space and bandwidth. =/

Glad it's a change here. ^_^

Yeap, most other forum software automatically clears unactived accounts after a period of time, but this software doesn't :(

I've now cleared the chains board.

I've recreated two topics, feel free to create the others again anytime.

Also all pending user registrations older then one week have been cleared.
