Title: Eriol's Race
Post by: Kyle Rondart on June 19 2005, 12:38 pm
I read somewhere that Eriol's dad was British & his mom was Asian. If this is true why is his last name Japanese & what's the origin of his first name?

You sure you're not thinking about Clow Reed? His mum was chinese, and his dad was british. Very little is known about Eriol's background, except that he is the reincarntion.

Clow Reed is the one who had a British dad and an Asian mother... Eriol is the reincanation of CR. In the managa, Eriol had no partents, as CR died he split in half. One half was Sakura father, Fujitaka and the other was Eriol. In the anime it is never made clear as Sakura's father isn't a part of CR, only Eriol is. One can only persume that Eriol is just full British or had only one parent, CR himself.

As already mentioned, in the manga he is the reincarnation of Clow and Fujitaka.  The anime only says he is the reincarnation of Clow Reed.  Also, the series never actually says Eriol has British blood.  They say he is from England and so his nationality is British, but that doesn't neccesarily mean he had British parents.  Nobody ever said Japanese people couldn't live in the UK.

He's not a reincanation of Fujitaka... Just Clow Reed. In the managa, Clow Reed slip and Eriol and Fujitaka were created. And if you live in Britain, you can still be British and I didn't say his parents were British I said that he probably didn't have any or if he did, it was Clow.

hahaha how dumb I feel ^^" when I saw "race" I thought like a running type race...^^" but yea I'm glad I read through this!  It cleared up alot of things...I never really thought about it before but it makes sense...^^ But I am still confused...I think that when Clow died he was created again as Fujitaka and Eriol (split in two) but then if he seperated, then why is Eriol young?  Wouldn't he be the same age as Fujitaka? ?_?

When Clow Reed split himself in two, he gave Fujitaka all his natural traits. Such as Fujitaka's intelligence. As for Eriol, he inherited all of Clow Reed's magic, and Clow Reed was the most powerful magician at his time, so Eriol had enough magic to keep him as a child. This was purposely meant to be because Eriol as a child could get closer to Sakura than Eriol as an adult.

I hope that makes sense.
