This is a very good series, and I like the coupling....but I can only have one other thing to say.....

NOSES! I hate their noses - they're very weird!

Aw, come on now, you know the noses are soooooo a trademark for Escaflowne! Haha!

I was disappointed with the movie (I mean, their noses are NORMAL! What were they THINKING?! *gasp*). I wanted it to be a continuation so badly!!  But now, I'm not so sure I actually wanted them to ever continue it... I like open endings. Makes ya be creative.

Besides... what would they do for a continuation? o.O (BESIDES put Van and Hitomi together XD)

still i think they should have put van and hitomi together..

i mean like they JUST realized their feelings towards each other like what.. a few minutes ago in the anime in our point of views.. we didn't really get to see them together when they knew their feelings.. *sigh.. it's just like CCS but they had a movie to continue it.. AH!!!!!

This is what fanfictions are for :haha:!

But most Escaflowne fanfics are AU... including my own ^^'. (It's hard writing a continuation for it, that's why I wonder if it'd be a good thing...)

From what I've heard, this plot was fairly complex, so it would probably be hard to produce a good continuation. Afterall, they don't want fans like you lot chasing after them with rusty knives, do they?

I like the Van/Hitomi pairing a lot, especially as Hitomi didn't go for the lookalike boy (the one who seemed like the boy from her own world)

But I still hate the noses. And Van's wings, although very cool, were out of proportion several times...much too big!

the noses are great, and wings have always supposed to be big

XDD Correct. Yeah, the plot is fairly complex, but after you watch it a couple of times, you go "OHHHHH!!!!" (And yes, if they made a crappy continuation, someone would die ^_^)

We all agree that the music is awesome, right? Hehe.

OMG, another board I fail to post on. *headesk*

I love Escaflowne, its an awesome serious, really interesting, and original. Even their noses, which sometimes irk me, but are okay. The movie was even worse though. I love Van/Hitomi. So cute, and Yubiwa is an amazing song, it is by Maaya afterall, how can we not like it! LOL.

The plot was complicated, but it was a good series. The subplot for romance was good too. Even though when they did realize there feelings, to our point of view, they didn't act upon it. Its okay though, its sorta like CCS, and how I wonder if Syaoran actually catches Sakura, LOL.

I love the movie though, the fighting scenes rock, and Hitomi and Van scenes are waaaaaay more.

To be honest, I really didn't care for Escaflowne all that much.  It was a pretty good series and I don't regret watching it, but it didn't draw me into its universe any and I didn't get attached to any of the characters at all.  However, the storyline was interesting, even if the ending to the TV show was confusing as heck, and the animation was pretty good too, despite the weird noses.  Please forgive me for this, but the more I watch the movie version of Escaflowne, the more I start to like it better than the series.  I don't know why I like it more, but I thought the characters were more interesting in the movie, especially Hitomi who was too stereotypical of an anime heroine in the TV series for my tastes, although I do miss her psychic powers from the series.  The animation in the movie was really good too, likewise so was the music, and the characters looked a lot hotter in the movie, especially Van and Allen.  Still, nothing quite beats the Escaflowne shounen manga, which is just awesome, but I had to get adjusted to the new character designs.  I really have been enjoying reading the manga a lot though, and I really want to read the rest of it.  It's too bad they couldn't have made another anime series that took the same route as the shounen manga.  I wonder if Tokyopop will ever license the Escaflowne shoujo manga....

Wow, Cardcaptor Takato, you view everything complete backwards from what we all think ^^'. But that's okay. I have all of the shounen manga. At first, I was like "WHAT THE CRAP IS THIS?!" but it grew on me (because it actualy progressively got better o.O) Heh, I like Van in the series, movie, and shounen manga. (And yeah, I think Tokyopop or SOMEONE should license the shoujo manga!)

Yubiwa = main reason I bought the movie soundtrack  :haha:

Heeeeeeeey, you guys make it seem like Hitomi and Van didn't realize their love for each other till the very, very end. But wasn't it like.... episode 24 when they actually admitted it? (When Hitomi goes back to Earth and keeps seeing Van's feathers; and Van sulks around more than usual on Gaea. And they desperately try to find one another.)

well hitomi didn't know until the very end.. i mean like that was the WHOLE point.. but van started having feelings for hitomi a LONG time ago.. remember when allen and hitomi were kissing?? haha

the manga was weird.. i saw the cover and i'm like oo what's this and i saw the title.. i was like ESCAFLOWNE?!?!?! i read a bit and i'm didn't like it much..

in my point of view.. the series was too short.. haha.. 26 episodes??!?! at least give me a season 2 or something.. LMAO!

I dunno...it seemed like a nice finsihing point, and I thikn it would be ruined if any more were made....and Hitomi really didn't realise until the end (like Sakura form CCS), even though she was already in lvoe with him. And Van...well, he wasn't exactly going to amdit it early on and risk a rebuff, was he?

Proud, that one, eh?

I love them regardless or the frustation I went through, but 26 episodes was nice, but it would be intersting to see how well it did go if it went longer.

If you think this anime is frustrating, watch Inuyasha 167 episodes and no confession in sight, only to themselves though.

GRR, that trials of anime romance >.<

inuyasha's anime.. was pretty useless.. LMAO!!! haha but o well..

escaflowne was ok in the end.. but having maybe a OVA would have been good.. or the movie should have been a sequel just like CCS XD hehe..

i would have wanted hitomi to go back to gaea and stay there this time with van hehe.. XD

O YEA!! you guys know in the end, if my memory is good, when van appears on earth with his wings and hitomi's necklace, doesn't he look weird.. O.O i mean like everytime i see that part i go like.. OMG!! he looks super weird.. O.O LMAO!! haha i'm not sure if it's me or anything but it probably is.. haha

I agree too! I don't know, after watching so many shoujo animes, I just htink its weird seeing a guy in wings, took me awhile to get use to it. ^^

LOL, I get what you mean, its the way there noses are different, and how their face..is..different. Guess words can't describe it. At least we're on common ground, right?

Just realised, Escaflowne is drawn like Gundam Wing, and as I like that anime's drawing, I shouldn't really complain about Escaflowne's noses!

I don't think Van looks weird....his face on earth seems roughly the same to me....maybe you're just not used to seeing him in a diff setting?

Maybe, I guess its all about me not being so detail precise! But if the story line is good, no complaining, I love Escaflowne, and their noses are signature, LOL

Exactly, as long as the story is good. It wouldn't hurt if the character desgin was a little better, but it is a fairly old anime, then again, so is CCS, and its the best we've seen, right?

Bleh, at least its a good anime ^^

I don't like to say it, but the movie was far better than the series.  I did like the series though.  there were major differences between the Origional version and the american version, so I watched them both.   :okay:
