What is everybodys favourite ghibli movie?
Mine is Laputa Castle in the sky and Princess Mononoke!
-
But I also sorta like Kiki's delivery service.
-
erm, i dont have any favourites.. because i only watch a few of them...
My Neighbour Totoro and Spirited Away
(for related works by Topcraft; many members of Topcraft went on to create Studio Ghibli in 1985) - Nausicca of the Valley of the Wind :okay:
-
I loved Castle in the sky. Thats my fav Ghibli movie, I want to see KiKi's Delivery service too.
I wasn't too fond of Spirited Away either.
-
My favorite Ghibli film is Howl's Moving Castle.
-
My Neighbour Totoro & Kiki's Delievery Service are my favorite Ghibli movies.
-
Howl´s Moving Castle followed closely by Chihiro *__*
-
Spirited Away <(mom thought I went insane when I watched it 5 times in a row!)
Is my favorite but I have also seen Kiki's Delivery Service and My Neighbor Toroto
-
It's between Kiki's delivery service or Princess Mononoke, but I'll say Princess Mononoke is my top choice.
-
So far I've seen: Kiki's Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke, Nasicaa: Valley of the Wind, Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, and Laputa: Castle in the Sky. I have yet to see Howl's Moving Castle, but of the ones I have watched, Laputa: Castle in the Sky is by far my favorite! It rivals my absolute favorite movie Card Captor Sakura 2.
-
Princess Mononoke Forever!!!! I also like this Made for TV movie they did. It's called Oceans Waves or I Can Hear the Ocean. It's good!
-
Question, is Howl's moving castle coming out soon, or is it out?
-
it is out. i should be going to see it soon *hopefully*
but my friend in london has now seen it twice... so yeah its out.
-
Ok, thanks! :D
-
I remembered it was released in the US and Canada like a little bit more than 2 months ago.
Here in Mexico it´s been around for like 3-4 weeks.
-
My have always been Laputa... but after seeing Howl's Moving Castle, that was added into favorites too... Although techincally not "Gibli" film, it was still made by Myazaki, so if you count in, Naucicaa, that is my favortie as well. Naucicaa and Laputa are the two most ones I"ve watched since when I was little.... oh, and I also like Kurenai no Buta (Porco Rosso). That movie have always made me laugh. :XD:
-
Anou...my favourites would be Spirited Away, Totoro, and Mononoke Hime. I wasn't too fond of Laputa though
-
I have never seen a Ghibli movie.
*collective gasp of horror*
Yes... :dodge: I've never had the chance to see one, and they never interested me enough to buy one, as much as I've heard people rave about them. *shrugs*
-
No offense Pikari-chan, but you haven't lived! Ghibli films are like the best, at least in my opinion!
-
no way! Ghibli films are pretty low down on teh scale of anime goodness. The ONLY Ghibli film i like is Castle in the Sky, and one of the main reason's I like it is because the two English Voice actors are Anna Paquin and James Van Der Beak. Who i know as Rogue (from the X-Men Movies) and Dawson (from Dawson's Creek).
The stories of Ghibli are all VERY Mediocre. nothing to brag about.

I think a part of my brain just exploded....Yeah...Ow....OK. First off, I couldn't stand the voice of James Van Der Beak in Castle in the Sky. Second, LOW Down? Low Down? Where is this scale of anime goodness that you are referring to? Third, Mediocre....VERY mediocre......(Looks in dictionary)Â Â :icon_study:Â Adj. 1. mediocre - moderate to inferior in quality ..... I just... can't think.... world crashing down..... Totoro plushies crying... don't know what to say....head explodie...::gah:: :tard:
-
aha... ok so i exaggerated XD
let me rephrase:
Studio Ghible isn't everyones cup o tea XD
I like CitS because of the voices (they were awesome in english) and some bits of the story were funny.
thats about it. The originality of the movie were good and clever, the visuals are stunning (for backgrounds) the people however... i don't think the artists know how to draw people very well.
Spirited Away same thing, The voices were good and the movie was interesting (most interesting i've seen in a Long while) but the ONE single thing that made me not like the movie very much at all... is that horrible old lady. Everytime she comes on screen i wanna puke. so i never watch it, instead i curse and hurt it XD lol
does that make you happy?
-
so hard to choose
Howl's moving castle and Spirited Away on first place
followed closely by Laputa:Castle in the Sky

But it was Yuubaba that made the movie. If it weren't for her, there would be no plot. I couldn't stand her either, but it helped the plot.
-
yubbaba was an ugly old hag, for her to be important ruins the movie, hence its crappiness
-
I'm feeling better now.
Well, Yuubaba was a freak, but I find that being grossed out by her appearance just added to my movie watching experience.
-
I really couldn't stand Yuubaba, but I did like Zeniba. I don't judge by looks, I judge by personality. That's where real beauty lies.

I didn't like her either! (Hey! Ugly get off the screen lemme see Haku again!)

couldn't stand her as well but that's how she's supposed to be right?
(being evil old hag and all)
hmm, just thought of something, in most Ghibli movies i saw there's an old hag
who is important to the story
Perhaps a trademark of Ghibli? :confused
-
most likely, also one of the reasons why i prefer other animes ^^;
i can't stand ugly old people, they make me sick...

Um, wait...... Anime ugly people or all ugly people? Like, do real life ugly people make you sick? How sick? Barfing sick? Do you vomit on ugly people? :puke: That's not very..... nice sounding.
-
LOL, but mostly all old ugly people... they smell too...
but thats off topic.
I have heard good news about the Cat Returns.. i'm yet to see that.
-
Cat Returns was funny. There was an ugly cat in there though.
-
Ilove them all but my favorites are mononoke Hime, Spirited Away, Nausicaa and Howl XD
-
:wav: Spirited Away FOREVER AND EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :wav:
*starts humming the movie theme*Â :keke:
I love HAKU!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :love4:
Just for you to get an idea, I can't decide between Haku and Syaoran :happy4: Believe it or not!!!!
I also like Princess Mononoke and I am dying to see TOTORO!!! I have seen the cat returns, but I don't really mind it, because my favorite director and animator is Miyazaki-sensei, and I focus mainly on his movies... :sweatdrop:
I am saving ALL of my money to go to Tokyo and to the Ghibli museum, I know it may be only a wish but I PROMISED myself I would be there someday..... :sleepy5:
Spirited Away, I love that movie, shall always love it, and I don't care what other people may think, it will always be my favorite movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :inlove:

Yesh Zeldi-Chan agrees :3
-
Out of the ones I've seen, I think my order of favourites would be....
Spirited Away
Howl's Moving Castle
Princess Mononoke
The Cat Returns
Kik's Delivery Service
Totoro
(I'm so jealous! My friend's got japanese roots, so she's gone over there for a holiday...and she's going to see the Studio Ghibli Museum/Studio!)
-

Hehe, I am glad. I am at least not the only Haku fan around here....

REALLY????????? AH!! What I would do for that opportunity. *gets jealous too*
-
I haven't seen The Cat Returns, or Totoro.
But I love Spirited Away, Kiki's Delivery Service, and Laputa. <3
-
Mmm.. I have only seen Mononoke-hime, Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi and Neko no Ongaeshi. I have and interest for others too, but they are simply too expensive - and I'm not sure are those Region3 publications they sell everywhere legal or not. It's weird to have mandarin chinese next to english.
I'm pretty pissed of I didn't got a change to see Howl at theaters, but it will probably come as DVD later this year - but I'm not sure at all if I wanna get finnish sub and dub >_>
And what comes to my favourite: It's Mononoke.
Sen to blah-blah-too-long-name runned too slow - and Neko no Ongaeshi dashed too fast from the beginnin to the ending.
I'm a poor child, I didn't see Totoro when it came from tv when I was a small child. Almost every of my friend has seen it in their childhood. Doh. Porco Rosso was also in tv back then. Missed it too >_>
-
Howl's moving castle - ya ya This movie got first place in movie ranking in japan for year 2005. ( see ANN for more details).
whisper of the heart - (same author with The Cat's return Aoi Hiiragi) Baron was there too, but only as a figurine in an antique shop. This is a very heart- warming movie.
-
I actually haven't seen that many Ghibli movies, but I remember watching Kiki's Delivery Service when I was little and loving it, so that one's one of my favorites. My other one is Spirited Away.
