I read that list on cb.com and I laughed when I saw the name Lionel as Syaoran.

Not that I have a problem with the name, I think it's cool. I just never pictured Syaoran as a Lionel.
[stiffles a giggle]

Imagine Sakura saying Lionel-kun.
At least they didn't name him Bob.
Not that I have anything against the name Bob!   :dodge:

kawaii~ Lionel..

they wouldn't change the name Sakura.. it'll ruin the title! ^__^ and of course, being the main character.. like Kira on Gundam Seed.. I dunno about the others.. But I heard that Korean CCS changed the name "Sakura" to "Cherry"..

Although, Lionel is like Li (Cardcaptors) and Syaoran LI (CCS)...maybe it's the closest the french have to Li?

I couldn't agree more! It's like in Inu-Yasha. They pronounce Kagome's name wrong (plus a few others, too lazy to list them all). Sure, it bugs me that they pronounce them a little off but at least they kept the same names!
It would disturb me greatly if they changed Inu-Yasha's name to Steve or something like that....that's just totally wrong. Or ahha, Kagome to Kathy or something!
Woah...disturbing thoughts.

What about how they say Sakura's name on Cardcraptors?
I'm glad I only watched a few episodes, so I at least have the right pronounciation.

I don't like how they changed Touya to Tori.
What's wrong with Touya?
And yeah, Eriol to Eli.
They took out Nakuru's name all together here in America!
She's just Ruby. In both forms.
Eli Moon and Ruby Moon? What, are they supposed to be related here in America??? What next, Soupy Moon?

They misspronounce Sakura's name in CC
It's pronounced "SaKURa" in CC
and CCS it's "SAkooRA".

Err...hope that made sense. Does in my head, anyways.

If you watch the dub, you miss Yukito teasingly calling Touya Oniichan!

erm.. dubbing makes no sense.. but its for the benefits of the fans.. i was wondering.. wouldnt it be better if they just add the language subtitles for the respective countries? like for me, im watching Tsubasa in jap language (which i have only little knowledge) and with english subtitles..

In my country the only one that changed name was Supi, they called him "Spi", but may still not be trascendental since that´s because of the endless wonderings aroun th sound of "u" in Japanese.

lol. when i was searching around site about CCS, i came to this one where they had name flips. and my cousin whose personality reltead to eriol, had a younger brother called anthony. so when i told him that his idol's french name was anthony, he started to pretend sick. lol

after finding out syaoran's french name was lional. i became obsessed with it. so when ever i plaed a game where u could name your characters. i always named at least one called lionel. lol.
