Title: Harry Potter (Beware of Spoilers!)
Post by: Sya0ran on April 23 2005, 11:13 am
OMG, besides me being addicted to Anime and Manga I also LOVE Harry Potter!     My favorite coupling is Harry/Hermione but I also love Ron/Hermione.  I'm actually into practically every couple out there. o.O;  I'm very open-minded about couples, I guess I have no favorite.  lol

You guys excited about the 6th book and the 4th movie?!  Its got me all jittery and excited.  [swoons over Daniel Radcliffe picture on wall]
Mhm..hottie.  We shall be together at the premiere my love.  XD  Oh, one fun fact about me that links me to one of the cast members in Harry Potter is that me and Emma Watson (girl who plays Hermione! ;P) have the same bday...April 15th!  Cool ne?   :heh:

[EDIT: Changed the title to warn people about possible spoilers...]

I like the movies (waiting for number 4), but haven't read the books (can't be bothered)

though i thought the books are nicer (better) than the movie...

i felt that movie 1 was nice *definatly...i went...waaaaaaaa.....*, movie 2 was ok but not as surprising though the story was darker, movie 3 was the downhill portion...the story seemed..rushed and i felt that i've been conned of my money to pay for the ticket~ :P hope movie 4 picks up the pieces though~~

the books are certainly more detailed and i'd say that they were worth every cent~~(xcept for hardcover book 4 coz the 1st few chapter were mostly bout the qudditch games thats all), though books get yellowish and stuff~ :P

Out here in Aus:

Movie 1 was rating the worst (due to its introductry style)
Movie 2: was ok
Movie 3: really hit it off

Honestly I like Movie 3 the best so-far :D

and about the books/movie, they are true different mediums, the director of movie 3 said in order to remain true the movies would
have to be 16 hours long (imagine that - I can barely stand a 2 and a half hour movie)

i like the books better than the movies.. :P HP and PoA [prisoner of azkaban] was really disappointing.. :(
i am however waiting and hoping that the GoF movie is better and that Jo doesn't kill my favorites in the 6th book..  The books are sooo much more better than the movies.. :P more details! like Peeves.. I wanted peeves in the movies.. *sniffles*

i'm like a mixed shipper fan but i like Draco / Hermione best.. :P I like.. Hemrione/Ron, Hermione/Harry, Ron/Luna,  Ginny/Harry and Hermione/Draco.. tehehe.. :P

maybe i compared movie 3 to the book too much~ :P thats y it didnt seemed satisfactory to me...though any1 has any ideas bout the 6th book: the half-blood prince? the title seems to be a change in style~ :P

Honestly, most people just don't get that, when making judgements about movies *based* (remember the movies are based) on books.

the 3rd movie didn't mention much about james and the maurader's names or such.. if i didn't read the book after the thrid movie i wouldn't have understood it much..

also .. it was a comletely different setting to the other two.. i think that's why i didn't like it most.. the previous settings were familiar to me already.. :P
Title: Re: Harry Potter
Post by: Little Wolf on April 23 2005, 09:05 pm
Yay! I've been waiting for someone to make an HP topic here... :D

Anyway, I'm with SLi on this. I think the 3rd movie is really the best of them all YET! The first one, I admit.. I was just too happy to see it as a movie so I forced myself to enjoy it but truthfully it was not really good. The second one's not any different from the first. I think I hear more HP fans angry with Chris Columbus (director of the first 2 movies) because he practically ruined the series. Now I understand that you can't have everything in the movie. I prefer the third movie because it's fast-paced and has more action. The first two had moments where I almost fell asleep...

And yes! I'm waiting for HBP too... I haven't reserved a copy yet because my favorite bookstore doesn't have it available for pre-order yet. :keke:

And of course.. no movie adaptation will ever beat the book no matter how hard they try. I'm sure of that!  :okay:

-edit-
oh yes, I've forgotten to mention.. even though I think the 3rd movie's the best, I still don't understand why they have left out the part about the story behind the Marauder's Map. It would have been funnier if we have seen these words in the map:
"..keep his abnormally large nose out of other people's business."
and
"...that a git like that ever became a teacher."  :rotfl:

I so agree with you all.  I really don't like the movies, they didn't exactly portray the oiginal storyline of Harry Potter.  The movies are fie I guess, its nice seeing the characters all lively and such.  ^^

1st Movie: Sorcerer's (Philosopher) Stone - I love this movie, its completely original and follows the same plotline as HP. However, I can manage watching this again if Hermione (Emma) could've just done something about her overly bushy hair!   :shifty:  XDD
2nd Movie: Chamber of Secrets - It was okay and its obvious the cast members had gone through puberty around this time.  lol  The actor's looked hott and overall, I loved it.
3rd Movie: Prisoner of Azkaban - Mhm.  This movie I have issues with.  It annoys me that the director's completely chose different scenes and that it wasn't nearly as faithful as the first and second movies.  It was fine though, I mean litererally.  You guys see Daniel and Rupert?  BAM.  All grown up...xPP  It has more action though so its cool as Little Wolf said.  =]  I didn't like the parrt where Harry cried, that was never part of the original storyline.  o.O;

Uh-huh.  ^^  Hey, it could've been longer. [cough]    :sweatdrop:   I reserved a copy and now have the magical special ticket you get when you reserve HPB!!  [flashes ticket]  xDD  Yes, the books are waaaay better than the movies.  ^^;  I especially love GoF and OotP!!!
I love GoF because it has a ball and LOTS of cool action (and Viktor Krum...*fantasizes*)  lol

But, I love OotP because Harry changed.  Oh come on, tell me you wouldn't change after all that Harry had gone through.  I also personally think he got closer to Hermione.  Dude, he totally...err...don't wanna spoil it but oh well then I guess.  >>;  Harry would rather hang out with Hermione than Cho.  Harry and Cho kisses to!!

Yes, I also have issues with her.  She irks me so..[clenches fist]  Yup, the marauder's map scene would've been hiilarious!!  XD I swear...I'd probably fall out of my chair and cry...with laughter.   :heh:   Oh yes, just wanted to mention how insane and addicted I am to Harry Potter.  I nicknamed Snape...don't get disguisted now.  Don't worry, I was all hyper when I did think  (the whole class knew that. XD)  I nicknamed him Snapelicious Deliciousness... :XD:

I was a fan, but when i saw the third movie, i was O_o
I just don't like it, but the first one was really good, it introduced wll the magic world, loll
Title: Re: Harry Potter
Post by: Little Wolf on April 24 2005, 02:15 am
I also like to note that the 3rd movie had the best ending so far... The first two movies ended the usual way of leaving the train which was just sort of already cliche and  :snore:

While the third one had a much, much better ending than those two.

So far, my fave Harry Potter book would be OOTP. My least fave now is...the first book.  :dodge:

And by the way, I don't really consider myself a really HUGE HP fan now.. I used to be really crazy at it but during the long wait in between book releases, I get myself busy on other things. So, I only become a BIG HP fan when there's a new book already or a new movie.  :D

Ooh!  Another addiction of mine!  *wears her Azkaban prison shirt proudly*

The third has to be my favorite book and movie, though...  I absolutely love Lupin and Sirius, and you get to meet them both.   And Snape is there, of course.  Snape...  X3  Witness the Snapey happiness (http://www.potterpuppetpals.com/sexy.swf).

But I definitely recommend reading the books... they are much better than the movies, even though the movies are pretty ruddy good.  They are also very easy reads since they are written on such a low reading level.

Anyway, my favorite coupling would have to be Lupin/Snape...  Odd, I know, but the best HP fanfics I've ever read have been based on those two.

if they're to cut scenes...i'd think that the trip to & in the qudditch match at the beginning & the middle of the story would be it....i really wish that they wont slice off scenes near the end....coz thats where the story got interesting~ :D

Post by: scarecrow_wingz on April 27 2005, 07:29 pm
the movies are nothing compared to the books. the books are too detailed to be made into watchable movies, not to mention the humour

but yeah, the 3rd movie was different from the other two, but it was more interesting to watch on screen than the first two

16th of July HP and the Half Blood Prince comes out.

Well, I am a huge Harry Potter fan.n  I started reading the books I believe somewhat in the end of 2000 and beginning of 2001.  I started buying them in spanish, and even my dad started reading them.  Book 5 is the first book I bought in english, because I couldn't wait for the spanish translation.  Of course when that one came out I also bought it for my dad.  So this year I'm also getting HBP in english first!

My favorite ship is Harry/Hermione.  I love the character of Hermione, 'cause I relate a lot to her, sometimes my hair even gets bushy (darn humidity of the country).  We almost have the same birthday (I'm sept.18, and she's sept 19).  And I agree with the poster that said that in OotP Harry and Hermione seemed to get closer.

As for the movies, I liked them, and of course I don't expect them to be exactly the same as the book.  There are many factors, like time, teh pace the story has to move to get everything going, etc.  I much rather have a story with good pace than have a movie that takes every scene like a copy-paste from the book.  For me, Prisoner of Azkaban is the best movie yet, because it kept the same feeling of the characters.  Sure, some scenes where different, and the moved the order of things, and some others were left out, but you could get the grasp of the story, and this movie was more about the characters than about the concept of magic.  I loved that they placed the characters first, because the book PoA is about the characters, it is the most personal book in the series IMHO.

I have been doing a fan fic, that is some sort of cross-over with CCS.  The fic is in spanish though, and it is not completed yet, but I have lots of fun when I write it.

People liked the third movie best? Perhaps its because I read the third book, and it was my fav, but I was very disappointed in the movie vesion. They hacked out half the plot, added meanigless bits in, and totally destroyed Professor Lupin's character!

I'm a big HP fan (the books, not the sauce) but I didn't really like book 5, especially the ending. It didn't seem as developed as the first four.

Even that was pretty underdeveloped - it happened so fast, and then...just faded away, almost as though it had never happened...is JK Rowling trying to kill off a many of her characters as possible, so that the end book will just be Harry and Voldemort?!

Title: Re: Harry Potter
Post by: Ruby Chan on May 02 2005, 02:26 pm
I don't think so.....maybe Rowling felt that it would just mean too much detail, and take away from the actual story itself....

Speaking of which, this may be a bit early, but has anyone heard any rumours about book 7?
Title: Re: Harry Potter
Post by: fisah on May 02 2005, 02:31 pm
Nope, I havent; heard any rumors, just speculations.

I adore the books, book 5 seemed rushed to me, I like the 3rd one the best. I didn't like the 3rd movie though, it seemed like they were trying to make it funny, when it wasn't. Like the Knight Bus for example. *cringes*

Can't wait for the 6th book though, coming out in June/July. Many stuff to expect in the summer for me ^^

Title: Re: Harry Potter
Post by: Ruby Chan on May 03 2005, 03:37 am
I think it was because of the length of time it took to shoot the film....
Title: Re: Harry Potter
Post by: Espo on May 03 2005, 03:42 am
I know that.. its because the books are TOO LONG... no offence to Rowling.. but the longer they are.. the longer it takes... the older the actors get... sicne they are like... 16/17 now... and we still have 5, 6,  and 7 after four...
Title: Re: Harry Potter
Post by: Ruby Chan on May 03 2005, 03:54 am
I'm a bit worried about book 7...it feels like Rowling is rushing thigns abit now, after book 5....it would be a real shame if she wrecked the whole series by putting some completely twist at the end, or just went for a tragedy (everyone dead except Harry). Mind you, if she went for a very happy ending, then that would feel wrong too.

I think the best ending would be if most people survive, but either Ron or Hermione die in the final battle. Or...even better...Harry dies in the final battle in order to stop Voldemort. Remember, they have that link? That could be a vital part of the plot...after all, why else did Rowling make sure to slip it into the series so early, hmm?
Title: Re: Harry Potter
Post by: Espo on May 03 2005, 03:57 am
Yes... i came to that conclusion too... since....

1. It says plain as day in book 5 that one of them can live while the other can't live.. so... either Harry kills him... or they both die... or voldermort dies.
2. It stops copyright theft... he's DEAD... so no one can nick him.... as in, writing stories about 'after' hogwarts...

but then, most people want harry to be HAPPY... his life has been so trastic... *sobs*....

"and during one time in Divination class, Professor Trelawney announced that Harry wasn't going to die after all, live at a ripe old age and become Minister of Magic much to Umbridge's displeasure"

Title: Re: Harry Potter
Post by: Ruby Chan on May 06 2005, 05:27 am
I think it would be a good idea for Harry to die in the last book, as it would be a definite end to the series - some authors just leave the plot open, and you're lacking closure...it doesn't feel very nice
Title: Re: Harry Potter
Post by: fisah on May 06 2005, 01:07 pm
I really don't want Harry to die, but at the same time, I think it'll be a good ending in terms of closure. I mean, the books are originally 7 books right? Harry's years in Hogwarts? Killing him off seems the best idea in terms of finishing it all off.

Then again, I expect J.K. Rowling to be creative and give us a great ending, one where Harry doesn't need to die ^^

Maybe Lupin, but I highly doubt Dumbledore, he seems he's the only one who can advise Harry at this point. Maybe even Trewelany, or the women who is the teacher that makes prohicies? *can't spell her name for the life of me* Since she is giving very good predictins right now, she seems like her death would be vital in terms of finding the mystery of killing Voldermort. I really don't know, I'm blabbering crap I hardly understand ^^

Agree with the Cho part there, but, I dunno, did JK hint that Harry will have a new love interest? Some are going for the Harry x Luna thing because of book 5's ending.

Yes, I am a HarryxHermione supporter, but in some ways, i don't think Rowling will put them together. More likely it'll be Hermione and Ron... *sighs*

Even though i said i'm a supporter of HarryxCho *a little ; not as much as i once did*

i am a very HIGH supporter of LunaxHarry. Reason...

Harry understands Luna... his parents died. Her mother died. He can see that she isn't mad. At the end of book 5, when harry is all upset about sirius, she comforts him.

As I said... Harry deserves someone nice. Either Luna or Hermione.

cant wait to see the movie!

i am also wondering.. in Goblet of Fire, isnt there the Quidditch World Cup? i think they are going to reduce this part in the movie and concentrate on the Tri-wizard Tournament...

finally... just wondering why didnt anyone mention the relationship between Viktor Krum and Hermione?

oh  i also saw the trailor of 4th movie. its great. and cho has to be in the 4th movie as she is supposed to be cedric's (one of the champions) dance partner so she is somewhat important. the maze was so big. wasn't it supposed to be as big as the quidditch ground. i will never ever dare to go in something like that and poor harry didn't even asked for it.the movie should be cool.
i've read all the hp books and seen the movies and i think they are all good. third one's the best except for a few wierd parts like what was that when lupin said to harry that he knew harry's mother. i never thought they were very much like friends. i guess he just knew her as they were both prefects and then she was one of his best friend's wife. but somehow that dialog seemed kinda suspicious.

I love the books. I also like the movies, and I like 3rd best also ^^u, no, nothing to do that I´m from Mexico, it´s just that to me it´s the first movie really adaptated to the screen. The first two tried so hard to carbon copy the books that you were actually remembering on your mind "this is missing, that is missing, here they were supposed to say.." the whole time. With PoA you couldn´t really do so because during the first 5 minutes everything was already different but not in a bad was, IMO the basis and depth of every character was kept while telling this story in another medium different from the books and that´s the important thing to me ^_^

about the books, my favourite has tobe precisely PoA. I´m a huge Lupin fan and so far that´s where he gets more story time. Book 5 gave me mixed feelings, I know Harry is going though those "terrible" teen years and specially in his case he´s got more to be mad at than any other human being but still found a little bit anoying having him in a bad mood during most of the book :P

I currently don´t have a favourite pairing I enjoy all of them while at fanfiction they are well written.

Title: Re: Harry Potter
Post by: ani on May 12 2005, 05:21 pm
haha.. take a look at this:

Some news from The Veritaserum: (http://veritaserum.com)

Movie 5 - Order of the Phoenix
Tentative Release Date: June 2007

Casting:

Daniel Radcliffe/Harry Potter - 85% chance
Daniel has played Harry Potter in all of the first four films, and when Order of the Phoenix is being filmed in 2006, he will only be two years older than his character. Makeup can easily make him look fifteen years old, and his continuously improving acting abilities should make it relatively easy for him. Millions of Harry Potter fans worldwide have grown attached to Dan as Harry, and would lose interest in the movies if he was recast. Also, in the above quote, Producer David Heyman said that he hopes Dan stays on board. We give him an 85% chance of returning.

Emma Watson/Hermione Granger - 85% chance
Why it's logical for her to stay:
Like Daniel, Emma has played Hermione Granger in all of the Harry Potter films so far, and she is the youngest of the trio, which means that she will only be a year older than her character during OotP filming. Age isn't really a factor for Emma, and since age is the main fear of why Daniel and Rupert may be recast, Emma seems to be safe. Although, if they get rid of her co-stars, chances are she will be leaving the franchise as well. 85% chance.

Why she might leave:
Although Producer David Heyman stated that he wanted the trio to continue filming the movies, Emma was unsure in mid-November 2004: "Woah! I've honestly no idea, no idea at all."

Rupert Grint/Ron Weasley - 95% chance
Why it may be logical for him to leave:

Rupert Grint is the oldest of the three kid stars by almost a year, and shows it. Rupert has physically matured the fastest, which puts him in danger of the "age axe." Producer David Heyman stated that the entire trio leaving the franchise at some point in time was "inevitable," but Alfonso Cuaron voiced opposing views. By the time OotP filming rolls around, Rupert will be 17 going on 18, which is dangerously close to being too old. Although makeup can work wonders, it may not be enough to satisfy the producers.

Why we're almost positive he'll stay:
At the Prisoner of Azkaban DVD launch, Rupert said, "I want to do all of them if I can, they're just such good fun." In February, he told The Melbourne Herald Sun that "There's no reason, really, why we wouldn't go on. I don't know about the others, but I want to go on." In a quote at the top of this page, Producer David Heyman said that he hopes the kids won't have to leave, but if they decide to, "they'll go with all of our blessings." As Rupert obviously wants to stay on board and Heyman also wants him to stay, we give him a 95% chance of returning for OotP.

Tom Felton/Draco Malfoy - 50% chance
Tom Felton will be 18 years old during Order of the Phoenix filming in 2006. Although he could still play the role of Draco, who would be 15 during the movie, producers may decide that he is too old for the role and recast him. Tom has also expressed interest in going into fishery later in life rather than continuing acting. Tom and/or the producers may decide for him not to be in the fifth film, but if he wants to stay and the producers want him to stay, than he stays. 50%.

I'm kinda shocked that they might not be casting Tom Felton as Draco Malfoy.. :P
Title: Re: Harry Potter
Post by: ani on May 12 2005, 05:22 pm
Sorry I had to post twice in a row.. :P i kinda ran out of characters! ^^;;

Matthew Lewis/Neville Longbottom - 90% chance
Matthew's got a great chance to stay on as Neville, because there is no reason for him to quit or for him to be recast. Even if he does look a bit older than his character in the fifth film, he will only be in a supporting role, which makes his age versus his character's age not be quite such a big factor. As long as Matthew wants to stay on board, he most likely will - 90% chance.

Chris Rankin/Percy Weasley - 95% chance
Chris is old enough that a few years difference between him and his character won't really have an effect on his ability to continue with the role. Unless Chris spontaneously decides to stop doing the Harry Potter films, which is highly unlikely, he will be back for the fifth film. Also, Chris's contract states that he will be in "Prisoner of Azkaban +1" film - this was thought to be Goblet of Fire, but he announced that he would most likely not appear in the fourth film. If Rankin does not appear in the fourth movie, this guarantees him at least some film time in the fifth movie. The character of Percy Weasley has a major impact on certain issues in the fifth book - although they could cut that subplot, it is unlikely. 95% chance.

James and Oliver Phelps/Fred and George Weasley - 90% chance
Although beloved by many Potter fans, the characters of Fred and George Weasley have little to do in the Harry Potter movies. Those of you who have read the fifth book will know that they have more to do which will definitely be included in the movie, but both James and Oliver's roles are classified as minor. Because they are minor roles, there would be no point in recasting them. However, if one twin has to leave the movies for other reasons, chances are high that they both will leave. 90% chance.

All Adult Actors - 95% chance
If their character has somewhat of a role in the book, we can expect to see them again. One or two of the adult actors may end up leaving the movie franchise prior to the fifth film due to unexpected happenings. But the chances of any adult actors being recast are slim to none. 95% chance for the adult actors from the previous four films to return.

i highly doubt rowling would let harry die after 7 books of him, although killing him off would indeed end the harry potter saga, but it wouldn't make sense, cos harry is 'good' and voldemort is 'bad'. essentially a children's book, she would aim to instil positive and practical messages to her audience, killing off the symbol of good just doens't seem right

Yeah, she couldn't kill Harry off.....because then Harry Potter would become a tragedy story (Main character dies, not good idea) and we don't want that do we? Again, as I said, why did they kept him alive for 15 (so far) years if they were gonna kill him. Useless....
Title: Re: Harry Potter
Post by: fisah on May 19 2005, 10:39 am
And also more depressing, I'd rather have the cliche ending then something tragic, JKR will probably spare herself from rabid fanpeople and make it a happy ending....hopefully.

Besides, Harry's been through all sorts of crap already, killing him off seems so horrible >.<

Harry won't die, that I know and re-reading some of your post made me laugh.  XD  Vexnet, you're so evil though for once the bad side winning sounds interesting...not that I want it happening anytime soon.  e-e;;  lol  I just had a thought.

What if instead of killing Harry, Voldemort decides to offer him a position to be part of the dark side like how Star Wars went on.  Hmm...anevil Harry is definitely sexy.  XPP  Though, I highly doubt it will happen.  ^^;

Oh and yeah, I was GOING to audition but like I said, they preferred people who lived in the UK.  >>;  And yes, I've seen tons of sites with Emma and Dan images where they're so sickeningly cute together.  lol  I love them together though... :inlove:

Harry would never go to the dark side, [he has lost so much already and i don't think he'd join the side who inflicted that pain] though sometimes I find myself thinking Ron will.. What with the 'sidekick' image always being given to him. *again ducks from tomatoes*  :hehe:

I think that Voldemort could easily sway Harry to the Dark Side if he plays his cards right. I mean, seriously. He's got more angst than Episode 2 Anakin and Episode 3 Anakin put together. And angst always leads to the Dark Side. O_o

Perhaps offering him a way to bring back those dear to him who've died, or something along those lines.

Me, I like waaaaaaay to many shippings in Harry Potter to actually ship one. Yeah, I did mention how cute HHer are, but still, I like Draco and Hermione at times since he has this peculiar interest in her and the fact he always has to pick on her. It's like that little boy in grade school who wouldn't leave you alone since he has this enormous crush on you. And I also like RonHer, because they argue all the time and its insanely cute and adorable! And sometimes I even like RonHarry, not that I'm a yaoi shipper, just because I think their friendship is cute. NOW then, OFF the Shipping topic >_>

Harry and Volderment forming an alliance doesn't seem that unlikely, EVEN though I HATE IT! If he does join, its probably because of power.
Show content
In OOTP Harry had those dreams of being a snake/voldermort, and he said that he felt 'way' to compatitable with it, again, can't remember the actual quote
Or maybe he joins to secertly kill Voldermort, like gaining his trust and backstabbing him (LITERALLY) in the back. Or maybe *so many maybe's* he will be controlled, especially since:
Show content
It's said that Harry's lighting bolt on his head makes him connected to Voldermort
So if Voldermort knows, then he can use that to his advantage.

It's actually up to JKR,  I won't mind what she does, as long as Harry survives what ever he goes through, THAT IS ALL I ASK!

as to who/what the half blood prince is...well that's a good questions...but it would only be a tool to bring harry forward... for example  the philosopher's stone...it was an object that was a goal for harry, as was the chamber of secrets... a plot device, the prisoner of azkaban - important and yet not so important - through him we learn more of harry's past; goblet of fire - another object that throws harry into a bunch of complications

but still...wanna know who/what is it ^^

I think that Voldemort could easily sway Harry to the Dark Side if he plays his cards right. I mean, seriously. He's got more angst than Episode 2 Anakin and Episode 3 Anakin put together. And angst always leads to the Dark Side. O_o

Even if Harry had angst he wouldn't kill. Anakin did. -_- Shout and destroy things sure, but he knows where his limit is.

I think it would be quite liekly that Harry turned to eveil...think about it, he's lost his parents, another special eprson which I shall not name for fear of spoiling the plot....and he was so angry and rebellious in the fifth book....Harry's heading for evil, because no one can have that many emtoinoal scars and not have issues.

And since Voldemort can't live whilst Harry survives...I thikn Harry will destroy Voldemort and become the new Dark Lord.

(Although, if that happenes, I'm kinda hoping there's a redemption scene where he's attacked by the others, and as he lies dying, apologises to his friends for betraying them.)

Mind you, hasn't Rowling already said that Harry isn't the half-blood prince?

But I'm sure he will turn evil in the last book....

By the way, exactly why did Voldemort go after Harry's parents anyway? What made them so special they had to be hidden away?
Title: Re: Harry Potter

It wasn't harry's parents that were special. Harry was and of course he was too little to stay away from his parents so they were also hidden. Another reason is that is some one knows where they were then it'll b easy 2 figure out where harry would b.
Voldemort went after harry and he killed harry's parents coz they were trying 2 protect harry.

I have, but the book was so twisty and lacking a def plot, I find it hard to remember the stuff from it. I realy hope book 6 is better!

But I'm still a HP fan - I read Goblet of Fire in one day, and Order of the Phoenix in a day and a half - I don't put the book down until I'm finsihed!

I read the book in a 2 days apporximately. Think I read all the books in total of 5 times, but Prisoner of Azakaban more, since it was my fav.

Even thought he movies can be disappointments, I still watch them, just because they can be good sometimes. But hopefully all the actors will still be there, I love them to bits.

I was wondering, how about HP became an anime? I'd watch it in a instant, especially since there is so many doujin about HP too.

Wow, you guys sure are speed readers.  ^^;  I read all the book more or less than 6 times.  It takes me about a whole day (once I read I don't stop for anything..XD) so I read like 24hrs straight until I finish.  e-e;;  HP is just so addicting.  lol

I'm definitely gonna go see the movies.  They were all good but they didn't reachmy expectations but its fine.  I still love them nonetheless.  =D  I can't wait until book 6 comes out and the movie too!!  Wow, HP fans are sooooo gonna be chaotic this year!  xP

I started with book 3 and then read in the correct sequence. when I started with book 3 i didn't even know that it was a series so i was like- "What kind of an ending was that?" There is nowhere written on the books that this is book2 or 3 etc so I was confused untill my friend from whom i had borrowed the book told me.

Post by: Ruby Chan on June 01 2005, 09:38 pm
I hated the third movie. They went for cheap laughs and puns, instead of the story's plot. They made Lupin's condition seem funny (Hermione hitting him) instead of sad, and hacked out half the plot to put in scenes that would 'appeal' to their stereotypical audience.

The other two weren't that bad, but no.3 was rubbish.
Title: Re: Harry Potter
Post by: fisah on June 02 2005, 01:54 am
Yay, someone agrees with me! *does a jig* Every time people tell me the 3rd one was the best, but they don't know what there talking about, because it wasn't funny, I especially hated the Knight Bus scene, what was with teh jamaican talking head? Was that seriously trying to be funny? *groans*
Title: Re: Harry Potter
Post by: Ralea on June 02 2005, 09:45 am
Did they actually had to insert the Jamaican head? I didn't like that part one bit. And the quidditch! *sobs* The quidditch cup. My good friends, this is what happens when you have different directors for the same series of movies. I wish they just stuck to the first director.

Post by: fisah on June 02 2005, 10:47 am
I totally agree, and also, Cho wasn't in the movie, and Harry got his Frebolt at the very end! Why, beats me, maybe because they wanted a new feel to it, I suppose. I don't like the new director one bit, at least the first one was sensible, and he knows how to stick to the book, unlike a certain director who thinks talking jamacain heads are funny >.<

Sigh...it's the same director for movie 4, isn't it? Does that mean another brilliant book will be hacked to pieces, reassembled in the wrong order, and have some bits burnt with new, silly pages added?

Kinda silly, I know...but that's what I keep imagining the director doing to poor JK Rowling's book....

Beats me, I just have my fingers crossed! I hope even a new director, who doens't like gay gags, and actually stick to the book will be chosen. Based on the teaser trailer, it didin't look that bad, then again, no one talked, there was hardly any footage to be accountable that I can even have a judgement. I guess its all about waiting, and hoping.

Book 3 was my favourite book though, its sad how the 3rd movie is my least favourite *sniffles*

Ahh well, I'll eventually get over it.

Quote
Although some believed that Prisoner of Azkaban director Alfonso Cuaron would be the director for the fourth film as well, Cuaron denied these rumors in July 2003 in an interview with Entertainment Weekly: "It was always only "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" for me. I never thought [seriously] about continuing."

Rumors that Mike Newell might direct the film began in late July 2003, and were officially confirmed in mid-August 2003.

and its only one two-and-a-half hour movie.. :P so they'll definitely chopping parts..

I agree with you Ralea.. most people find the movies excellent and stuff but if they actually read the books I do believe the story will become better .. and they'll understand it better.. like the whole marauders bit at the end of the 3rd movie.. it was really a brief and fast little part.. it didn't tell us much about them..  :shifty:

that and i believe that the directors will miss out on an important thing during their movie making.. and will stuff the story up somehow..

like Peeves.. no matter how small his part is in the books so far.. :P or Hermione and S.P.E.W. who knows.. :P
Title: Re: Harry Potter

Alfonso wanted a darker look for movie 3. Yes it was darker, so dark, it's depressing. No Quidditch cup, no "Pig" at the end of the movie.....not to mention a lot of cuts.
Title: Re: Harry Potter
Post by: fisah on June 05 2005, 05:13 pm
*nods* <---been doing that alot

I agree though. Making something darker, doesn't necessarily mean to take out stuff that are a little lighter in context, but are vital. The Quidditch match was especially interesting, I wanted to see Draco and the crew to scare Harry. Not to mention, it was something I was anticapating >.<

I'm scared for Book 4 too. Its alot darker than the other books, so I'm wondering. Especially the part where Voldermort come back too. I really WANT to see that!

Title: Re: Harry Potter
Post by: Ruby Chan on July 06 2005, 05:28 am
I have to admit, I wondered about that. I think he'll get rid of Voldemort, then die later of a mortal wound, all heroic with people crying over him.

Or, he takes Voldemort's place, and Rolwing ends the series with Harry creating a new reign of terror....sort of like, there's a bit of baddie in all of us/good doesn't always win?
Title: Re: Harry Potter

Oh yeah! The quiet ones always end up being heroes, don't they! Unless he's the half-blood prince...after all, wasn't one of his parents a muggle? Or maybe it's one of Harry's other friends with muggle and witch parents?

I saw the picture, I can see why it would be concidered spoiler... it got me excited for the 6th book, yay  :hello2:

Why would it be seen as a spoiler? It's only Voldemort's sign in the sky....

Why would it be seen as a spoiler? It's only Voldemort's sign in the sky....

I think the spoiler is because of where the sign is... I'll put the next part spoiler just in case....(it's what fans think of where the place is)

Althought it seems quite obvious, the sign seems to hovering above Hogwarts... that would mean someone from Hogwarts was killed. If this was true, then it seems that it's not Ron, Hermione, or Ginny.... because they all looking at the sign....of course, I could always be wrong, you never know with Jo  :heh:

No offense...I like Dumbledore just as much as the next person...but he seems awfully trusting. And a bit useless too. He just seemed to sit back in book 5, and let everything happen.

LOL....It would be great if Dumbledore turned out to be Voldemort's superior in book 7, and was really an evil guy...

I think Snape is good, but hides the fact since he could've worked with Voldermort before, but is becoming good thanks to Dumbledore.

Dumbledore is too trusting, thats why Harry also takes him for granted, as does Fudge. However, I have a feeling he knew Fudge would revolt like that, but kept it under wraps just to get him the right time.

The movies really screw up the films, but I still wanna see them. Maybe if I don't read the book the night before next time, I won't be so disappointed....

Post by: Alexiel on July 16 2005, 04:07 am
I read a newspaper article that Azkaban's movie might've been the last movie they would make because of the actors growth spurt. LOL. And it's true. I compare Draco's actor in the 3rd movie to teh previous ones. Im like WOW.... how'd you get so tall? haha

I want to read the Half Blood Prince. Im bored reading the other ones over and over... lol
Title: Re: Harry Potter
Post by: Ruby Chan on July 16 2005, 04:10 am
You mean the actors would make right? I thought they might have to get new actors if the kids continued growing...that's what I heard anyway...but the movies would still be made.
Title: Re: Harry Potter

Post by: Mina on July 16 2005, 04:46 am
That article is, old then. I mean the 4th movie is almost in completetion..... and they have already made plans for teh 5th book.

They will make movies, just not sure whether they would be same actors/actoresses

First off: Killing Dumbledore is the stupidest thing EVER! I know that killing him is vital to the plot, and I think it will make Harry grow up more, maybe realize that Dumbledore wont always be there looking after him, there wont be someone who will listen to him anymore. But I think it was so sad that Dumbledore had to learn the hard way as to how Snape was truley evil, and that Harry shouldnt have been taken lightly. I thought that after OoTP's events, people would take Harry seriously, who cares if the whole Chosen thing was spreading around, his one friends, didn't belive him. I was especially annoyed with Hermoine, as much as I like the Ron/Hermoine pairing, I think Harry should've been taken seriously instead of being lecutered. Even Dumbledore, everyone took his words as spite, and everyone keeps being narrowminded and so flippant, it makes me so mad, because they should no better! Especially Dumbledore! I didn't want him to die, I really didn't. I cried, because he was so helpless, and he begs for his life, and Snape, that evil snape, i cant believe. He wsa ruthful, horrible, and I think Dumbledore trusted him with his life, and its sad that so many people die at Snapes hand. Hopefully people will not take Harry as a joke anymore, because I think he deserves better. He was the only one who was suspicious, while everyone just belived that age was the prime thing. Look at Voldermort! Or Sirius or even Harry! Even though they were young, they still had magnificent powers, even Harry's father. Age doesnt matter, its  the abilities, and Dumbledore should've listened to Harry, or else this wouldn't have happened, everyone should've.

Also, the romance in this book was very...erm, different. I thought Ginny/Harry was very cute, but rather rushed.....and ended really fast. I didn't want them breaking apart, and I thought Harry having this absolute...lust, for her, was rather odd, because he was so clueless in the 5th book. Not to mention almost everyone is snogging like no tommorow, especially Hermione and Ron, *sigh* they were kissing the wrong people, I think its rather ridiculous how this coupling is being streched out. I use to like Harry/Hermoine...but they arent exactly compatiable, both are really stubborn, maybe even more than Ron, and have high ideals, them being together would be way weird, so I thought the romance was okay...but so crammed

I think I want to kill Snape and Malfoy myself, in fact, I thnk I hate them more than Dumbledore. I use to love Malfoy, yes I'm one of those scary little fangirls, but I thought he was a bastard in this book, who could've changed for teh better. Snape is even more a bastard. I was schocked that he was part of the whole death of harrys parents, I couldn't belive it.

This book was really good, better than OoTP in some ways and not, the romance made more sense I guess in book 5, but book 6 seemed rushed, but I enjoyed it. I think the story is getting alot darker, and I do hope how the book will be like, without Hogwarts, it seems odd that the trio wont be going there anymore, anyway, I've ranted enough XD

I finsihed reading the book on sunday around 9pm.. =)

The book was okies I guess.. =P I kinda hoped for more action.. and a little more angsty!Harry.. =) But I guess it couldn't be helped..

I didn't think it was fanfiction-y but it did seem a little different from JK Rowling's other books.

my thoughts V
Show content
Ron/Lavender wasn't nessasary.. *sweatdrop* too much snogging. I think that he just got together with Lavender because of what Ginny said.. *shakes fist*

I don't know .. the romances did seem a little rushed if i think about it. *sigh* I wanted more Hermione/Harry parts.. not really a huge fan of Ron/Hermione.. :P

haha.. i seriously thought that Slughorn was the HalfBlood Prince.. :D *shrugs* almost.. ^^

eep! it seemed a little over done at the end.. the whole hero-ish thing that Harry was described in? like .. blah blah.. going off to find the Horcruxes and kill the 7th piece - which is voldemort. bleh.. and it was nice to see Hermione and Ron say that they would accompany Harry in search of the Horcruxes.. but it seemed so corny.. >.<

It didn't seem too fanfiction-ish to me.. somehow I was imagining Harry to be angsty, a little of what he was like in OotP .. for someone really close to him, it looked like to me he got over Sirius pretty quickly.. *looks annoyed*

I liked how Dumbledore was telling Harry how he didn't need to follow the prophecy.. only .. I can't really imagine Dumbledore talking like that.. Rowling had "!..Dumbledore cried out." Those were really annoying.. and how Harry seemed like he ddn't understand what he was talking about..

The Ginny thing was sweet.. but as others have said before me.. I will be really frustrated if she uses that as the reason he really kills Vodemort and all.. to try and save Gin.. *looks annoyed* Harry Potter wasn't made out to have a love story ending!

SNAPE! omGosh! argg.. I'm soo pissed with him.. *looks annoyed* how COULD HE! Dumbledore really trusted him. *chucks a tantrum*

The Minister of Magic seems to be really annoying.. he has a good point but really.. Harry doesn't want to.. bleh..

I just realised something .. that all of the trio got a boyfriend or girlfriend and then they all became single in the end.. *sweatdrop* Hermione was with McLaggen - Ron was with Lavender - Harry was with Ginny.. >.<

I really pitied Draco at the end.. it seemed like he was forced to that side.. like deep down he wanted to go to the light side.. His mother and himself would've been killed if he didn't do it! wow... he cried too! I never really thought Rowling would make Draco cry.. :P

AAAAARGH! I CANNOT BELIEVE SNAPE KILLED DUMBLEDORE!! *stabs Snape plushie with knife* Baka! Baka! Baka!
*sighs* Still a really good book though, a lot better than the 5th. It was surprising how the half-blood prince turned out to be Snape (SNAPE! *glares*). Lots of romance and er, 'smogging' in HBP. Ron's relationship with Lavender was wierd oO; . Yet so was Bill and Fleur, lol. XD
Slugworth didn't seem to appeal much, as the new teachers did in the books before. Rather stupid man, I thought  -_- . Impersonizing himslf as an armchair! LMAO! I was wondering why the man looked so wierd in the chapitre picture. Dobby looked rather cute though, lol.
Crabbe and Goyle, using the polyjuice potion to turn into girls! XD ROFL . The descrtiption of the tapestry near the room of requirement was hilarious too, trolls in tutus,  XD
Aragog died too? nyaa....
I wanna sip from the Felix potion too! XD Just one lucky day...
I couldn't stop reading when they reached to the cave. o_o Inferi rising from the lake...*shudder*
Then there's Lupin and Tonk's relationship....not a very good couple XD. Yet it's better that Bill x Fleur I suppose.
So Ginny's still with Harry? Hyu~
I suppose they won't be talking much about Hogwarts in the next book. Wonder how Harry's going to ditch the Dursleys XD
Only one book left........o_o
okay, I guess that's enough from me. This is the first time I've posted so much, lol  :sweatdrop:

Draco crying was really adorable, I pitied him too, but he was way to scronful when speaking to Dumbledore. -_-

Ron/Lavender was sickening, and really REALLY random....kind of like how the whole Luna/Harry semi-date thing was XD

Speaking od random, so Tonks/Lupin. I mean, I thought she was crying about Sirius then all of sudden, Tonks is in love with Lupin, there entire love thing was in one paragraph @__@ So odd ......

I always thought Harry/Hermoine was hinted at in OoTP, and then, all of sudden, it was totally disregarded. I thought the whole romance thing was very odd to me. LMAO, Phlegm..I mean, Fleur/Bill was very amusing, Ginny is quite the biatch at times, so is Mrs. Weasely. So funny XD

Amen. I actually liked Luna better than Ginny. >.< I was hoping it would be them, since, you know, she and Harry went to "Slug"'s party together. Ginny was like, I dunno, a little sister for Harry....in my opinion. And my shock when I read Ginny was snogging Dean.....OMG.....

I actually thougt Godric was the Half Blood Prince....:D

I really pitied Dumbledore, especially when Harry was forcing him the weird potion, and he was "No more, no more...." I was near in tears! Especially when Dumbledore was....*sniff*

I perfer Luna then Ginny too, but Ginny was okay, but I thought Harry/Ginny was random, and erm, weird, but okay I guess, always wanted to know Ron's reaction to Harrry dating his sister XD, also, Dumbledore was the best, Harry forcing him to drink the potion made me cry, I've never seen Dumbledore so helpless, it was so sad. Ron was funny when he said he was in love with Romilda, and Harry's like "Your joking?" the whole time, ROFL.

In my opinion, I always thought Harry and Dumbledore would be the key to destroy Voldermort, I mean, there the best match to win. Harry's way to emotionally unstable, and Dumbledore wasn't that young, so I thought they'd do it together, but now, Its only  Harry, and I think the ending for Book 7 wont be a happy one.

It will also be weird with a story not revolving around Hogwarts, it will be hard to get use to the fact that Hogwarts wont be so important.

okay. I just finished it. It was good.
I had already known who the half blood prince it but in between the story I was getting doubtful of whether my information was correct or not.

ron and hermione are still not officially a pair. I mean they nearly are but... What do you think was the third thing hermione was reminded of when she smelled the love potion? definitely something to do with ron. And krum is dumped. Poor boy he really did seem to be in love with her while now i think he must have found someone else too or else he would have atleast tried to stay in contact.
Tonks was so sad all this time just because remus refused to marry her? that seems not soooo big a reason.
No hogwarts in the next book? that will be completely unusual. but that what could you expect to stay usual now that dumbledore is dead. (though maybe we will see more of hogwarts). I was really sad to think that dumbledore did all that which caused his death in the end and nothing came out of it as the horcruxe wasn't the real thing. harry took DD's death in a much better way than he did Sirius's.
Snape, that evil but very specialised devil. And a lot is revieled about Voldemort (i don't know why but i was tempted to type Voldy-san, maybe coz that sounds funny). And Draco was actually considering the option of joining the good side. He really is stuck. He was all lonely and helpless. Noticed how he was crying in front of myrtle.Any guesses on his becoming all good in the end if he survives? Why didn't the elfs(/elves) gave harry more news on what was happening.
Wonder who R.A.B is.And whether he is still alive or not. ( i think probably not) and whether he destroyed it or not.
There was something else I had to say too but can't remember it now.
Title: Re: Harry Potter
Post by: S. Espoire on July 23 2005, 11:18 pm
i remember it now.Its just that nearing the end there were some things in the story which strongly reminded of 'the lord of the rings'. for those who have read that book:
Show content
when DD and harry were walking alond the lake in the cave, DD asked harry not to touch it. That reminded me of the lake which the fellowship passed by before entering moria. Later when harry saw dead bodie in it, that reminded me of the dead marshes which frodo and sam cross with gollum to reach Mordor.
What do you think was that potion making DD think?

I'm happy with the coupling of this book... Yay! *throws confetti* Harry x Ginny is my favorite couple, not counting Ron x Hermione. I wish Ron and Hermione fully got together though. That sucks. But it's so touching.

HOWEVER.... Snape killing Dumbledore is just OUT OF THE FIELD. Big no-no. Bad Snape! It was bucketloads shock when I read that.....

I think that Harry, or at least his scar is a Horcrux! That would explain the mind link and sharing of You Know Who's powers!  Plus, You Know Who had just killed Harry's mum and dad... a prime time ti make a Horcrux.   If not Harry, I think the scar is. (that's why it always hurts maybe).

I didn't really like the book but it did set up the next book well. Can't wait for 7! It's a powerful number in magic remember?  :heh:

Title: Re: Harry Potter (Beware of Spoilers!)

I also heard it was 7 books. *sighs* I'm waiting too long for this stuff to come out. Lol. Or they're taking too long to write. >_>

About the Horcrux... the ones that were listed were:

1 - Riddle's Diary
2 - Marvolo's Ring
3 - Hufflepuff's Cup
4 - Slytherin's locket
5 - Ravenclaw's or Gryfindor's heirloom *?*
6 - His own regenerating body
7 - ???

The 7th was still yet to be fount right? And I'm interested in Brad's idea of Harry's scar being a Horcrux. Though my mind seems to also nag at me how Dumbledore had said that Voldemort had already failed in killing him. And he mentioned he could've used Nagini... they mentioned something about a snake, right? o.O".....?

Suddenly, I have no idea what im talking about.  lol

But a question, I still have a few more chapters to read but I cant help but ask (frankly i dont give a hoot about spoilers, lol)... WHAT exactly does Harry see in Ginny? o_O

His regenerating body? I thought it was his snake, Nagini?
Title: Re: Harry Potter (Beware of Spoilers!)
Post by: Alexiel on July 30 2005, 04:33 pm
No. I'm pretty sure I remember what a Horcrux is. You cannot remove an entire soul from the original body so Voldemort's body has to have a part of his soul left and so I quote what Dumbledore had said, "He would not have a sense of his self without it."
Title: Re: Harry Potter (Beware of Spoilers!)
Post by: S. Espoire on July 30 2005, 06:18 pm
there are one in both. one in his regenerated body and another in nagini according to dumbledore but you really can't be very sure.
I think that it is popssible that he gave a part of his sole accidently to harry through that attack as that will not just explain his mind connection but also why harry has some of his powers like being parseltongue. but still that should have made harry atleast a little evil. It didn't maybe voldy gave him all the good he had left in himself(if there was any) and thats why he is even more evil and more dangerous now.
keep guessing.
and i'm preety sure that there are only 7 books.
Title: Re: Harry Potter (Beware of Spoilers!)
Post by: Ralea on July 31 2005, 10:48 am
So that's 7 then? If we count the snake. Lemme' see

1 - Riddle's Diary
2 - Marvolo's Ring
3 - Hufflepuff's Cup
4 - Slytherin's locket
5 - Ravenclaw's or Gryfindor's heirloom *?*
6 - Nagini
7 - His regenerating body

Ahhh!...and about the movies, I really don't like them much, but I can tolerate them (kind of..)
I'm a Potter-maniac....I think that now we (the fans) have to formulate really, really smart questions so we can unsolve the misteries for  Book 7!!! Onegai....I`m looking for someone with whom I can discuss the book!!!(I need someone besides my older sister, though she's an expert in the subject)

i supported luna with harry- cos at least Jo built a more convincing build up of their relationship in the 5th book- oh well, Expect the unexpected- thats what kero always says in the dubbed version of CCS anyways!  :sweatdrop:

Oh, I found an amazing website www.dumbledoreisnotdead (http://www.dumbledoreisnotdead)

At first, I was skeptical when I read the book, and I think I was way to angry to even notice half the clues that pointed to this theory. I swear, I whacked my head at some of them ^^ Anyway, you guys should read it, its really good, and I think I actually believe it.

This book was so awesome! The romance was a little iffy, but the plot and the everything else was just great. It was really excititng IMO, and its even better than my all time fav, the 3rd book, because this one makes you think alot. Its as if you can decide the ending, rather the book deciding it for you. Such as: Is Snape really evil? or Is Dumbledore dead? We can think and think and still be left with no answer, but that's what makes it fun. Sure, there wasn't exactly a definite ending (that's what the 7th book is for) however, it was great nonetheless ^^

Kay, I'll stop preaching you guys now

That was a really good site! But although I like the theory, I prefer it with Dumbledore dead, as it will force Harry to stand on his own two feet, and fight back against Voldemort without being able to rely on the advice of Dumbledore.

I think one of the reasons Dumbledore decided to suddenly start teaching Harry about Voldemort was because he knew he would die soon, so it was now or never when it came to telling Harry those things.

That's a very well thought out website, but I think the plot was designed so Harry would have to stand alone in the end.  It wouldn't suprise me if Ron and Hermione were killed to give Harry an extra push towards pursuing Voldemort.

I just started to read the 2nd book of Harry Potter. I've seen all the movies. I'm really excited to see the one thats coming out in November. Sooo excited!  :sweatdrop:

Even though I'm not the biggest HP fan you'll met, I do enjoy reading the books that I've read so far and hey, I thought the movies were awesome. x3

I didn't realise until I read that website that our english books got bits hacked out that were left in the american published ones! That's not fair at all, especially since JK Rowling lives here! How come we get half-measures?!

Ooh....that sounds a bit mean.  :heh:  What I meant to say is, it was annoying that we missed out on so many vital sentence, especially in the last few chapters.

Jk said so herself that book 6 was her favorite among the rest.

No, no, no, no, no! Not Hermione and Ron! Kill anyone, kill Ginny for all I care, just don't kill Hermione and Ron!
Title: Re: Harry Potter (Beware of Spoilers!)

I agree that they probably will die. Somehow I see all of Harry's friends dying in the lead up to the finale, as something to spur Harry on.  I envision omething like an X 1999 storyline, with everyone gone except for our hero.....

Or, it will be like X, with some dying, and our hero dying to save the world....but leaving behind people to grieve over him.

It is likely that Harry will die with Voldemort.  One theory is that the meaning of the prophecy is exactly that.  The other theory I have is that it will end like Chrono Crusade in which the main evil doesn't even die.  The goods guys think they won, and are out of energy but then it cuts to the evil being just walking away without a scratch.

Oh, I agree, Dumbledore's death gave Harry that extra push,. he's powerful, but he needs to do things on his own. I think when Ginny and Ron go with him, they might get hurt or even killed, making Harry go on a rampage, maybe Voldermort might get killed with Harry, that would be such a tear jearker, but seems plausible as well. However, the thought of Dumbldore actually alive is really good, I admire that webmaster, they seriously went all out ^^

Title: Re: Harry Potter (Beware of Spoilers!)
Post by: Ruby Chan on August 12 2005, 06:37 pm
I don't know....I think he should die. Something like he staggers back to his surviving friends, wounded, and they're all congratulating him, when he collapses to the floor.....if Hermione's still alive, she'd be crying and begging him to hold on....and Ron (if alive) would be holding onto her, and be all pale and shocked.

Then we just have Harry saying something, and then Rowling maybe saying how everything faded into black.....sort of like partially writing the last bit from Harry's point of view.

I thought she said in an interview she was going to wait a year before starting on it....

Anyway, I don't know if anyone said this before, but did you realize Snape made the Unbreakable Vow?

' "And should it prove necessary . . . if it seems Draco will fail . . ." whispered Narcissa (Snape's hand twitched within hers, but he did not draw away}, "will you carry out the deed that the Dark Lord has ordered Draco to perform?"

There was a moment's silence. Bellatrix watched, her wand upon their clasped hands, her eyes wide.

"I will," said Snape. '

We already know now that Malfoy's task was to kill Dumbledore. He couldn't do it though, and Snape ended up killing him. Would this be the reason? Knowing Snape, he would rather let Dumbledore die that he himself.
Title: Re: Harry Potter (Beware of Spoilers!)

I think Dumbledore knew he was going to die under Snape's wand. There was a scene where they were fighting - something about snape thinking that dumbledore was asking to much.. and they were arguing..

yep I agree with you Ralea maybe dumbledore did ask snape to kill him if nesscesary! I think there is more to it than meets the eyes. And i was dissappionted with the official pairing too! harry and Ginny! I wanted harry and hermione! but i didn't like herimone in the book as mush as i did in in the movie.

[CAUTION: MAJOR SPOILERS ((as already stated in the name of the topic))]

Same here! I love Harry/Hermione! I got so mad when it was Ron/Hermione and Harry/Ginny I nearly threw the book down in disgust. I really don't like the people of www.mugglenet.com or something like that because when I read the interview they had with JK Rowling, they called Harry/Hermione shippers DELUSIONAL!!! I was quite angry about this. JK Rowling also said that Harry/Hermione shippers should read the book over again (well, she didn't exactly say "Harry/Hermione shippers", but she made it clear that's who she meant). I was fuming and also slammed my fist into the computer screen. But I held back. My cousin was both mad and sad, she was reduced to tears! It had a very big affect on us. Meanwhile, my sisters were dancing with joy. Even my mom, who says she doesn't have time to read the books (but she's watched the movies) said she expected Hermione/Ron. Call me delusional or whatever the heck you want, but I will still support Harry/Hermione! :D

You guys really thought that Harry/Hermione would be together? I don't know... there werent any hints that they'd like each other MORE than just friends... sure, they always had those long conversations about who thought about what... and since book one, Ron and Hermoine have been going at it for awhile (and became friends in the end again), Harry being the... should I say third wheel or middle man? lol. Now don't get me wrong, I had thought Harry/Hermoine might've been together too but R/H seemed more obvious. book three confirmed my suspicion--especially the movie. ^^;;

Harry is a boring character. I like Ron because i have so much in common with him. I took a little over an hour reading this entire thread, and I'm reduced to tears now.  My absolute favorite book was book 3 Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and I absolutely hated book 5! How could they kill Sirius?! I was crying when that happened, but I was also angry!  I broke a table because I was so angry, but when I read book 6, I was so emotionally distressed, that all I could do was cry. And I'm starting up again.

I loved Dumbledore. He helped Harry right from the beginning, and he had to die. I had to wait 2 weeks to read the book because I put it on hold at the library. As soon as I got it, I wouldn't put it down once. I got the book at 12:00pm and I didn't even sleep because I needed to know what happened. I finished it a little before 6:00am. It was a very good book but I still cry when I'm reminded of the ending. I'm so distressed, I can't say anything more.

Cedric Diggery cannot come back to life. Voldemort used the Avanda Kadavra on him; the spell to kill. Once used, it cannot be reversed. He's gone, forever. There is no counterspell.

Cedric's death was very dramatic. I admit I felt I was about to cry when Harry returned to Hogwarts with Cedric's body and all that.

Overall, I think this movie is just as good as POA. I'm glad they didn't made this like SS or COS.

I'll post as more in-depth review in my blog later... ;)

i was too disappointed with the movie... it was shown already here in my country and i was lucky that i haven't got any classes for wednesday, the first showing day!

Show content
there was no winky, no dobby [it was neville who gave harry the gillyweed], cedric was an idiot, there were no sphinx, spiders, blast-ended screwts in the moving maze, fleur's sister was studying at the beauxbatons, krum gave hermione a "flying kiss", baty crouch jr wasn't fair-headed and harry found barty crouch sr dead in the forest! i know i'm comparing it too much with book four, but still... as a HP fan, i can't help feel disappointed. even the quidditch tournament was cut. *sigh!* draco though at the quidditch tournament looked hot!

i'm probably the only one who supports this pair. Draco x Ginny! whee~! i love weird pairings!  :heh:

Nice sigs bLuetopaz!  I really like them both!

That totally sucks. Exams are evil; and the day you have them is the same day as my birthday! I'm sorry. I'll see the movie on the 21st just for you.

Ok Enjoy the movie.
*points to siggie* LOLZ, can't help but get the idea from bluetopaz. Show your support people!
I liked that too and though about supporting my champion but the site takes too much time to open and with my pathetic internet speed I wasn't able to.

Long time no see. Good to see that you got a break from your hectic schedule as previously you've been so busy with studies. By the way I thought that the movie was releasing everywhere on 18th. I didn't expect ppl to have already seen it.

I'll watch the movie after 26th as that's when my exams will b over.

I'll put this under a tag since not every has seen the movie.... wahhhhh Ron is an a** at times in the movie ROFL! But it's funny. He's so mad when he sees Hermione with Krum at the ball. ROFL!!
Moody was really cool in the movie. I want his moving eye. HAHA!! It's so cool. And how he 'helps' Harry out. But in the end it was all his evil plot to lead Harry to 'you-know-who' I can't spell his name. ROFL!! The tongue that guy did was freaky. *shivers* lolz. xD

And I think that's all I'll say for now. lolz. I feel like reading the 4th book again! haha. xD

I didn't like the movie!!!  :dodge: And that is sad. :sweatdrop:
Things were going way too fast for me, and they took lots of funny stuff that happened in the book away!!!

I still prefer the third movie. Dunno why, maybe because it was my favorite book.  :heh:
Also, in this movie I notice Hermione way too.......umm....... un-Hermionish

I don't know why, but I think that Emma Watson is not giving me the Hermione essence I was hoping to see in the movie  :sad5:

But I hope that the people that already saw it enjoyed it!!  That was just my opinion  :XD:

Gaah, I really loved the movie too! I laughed and cried. I loved the action, the Fred and George loveliness ^___^ and...everything else!! I also can't wait till it comes out on DVD... Thank goodness movies are being released SO much faster than they used to. And I hope there are tons of extra scenes. They really should do more behind the scenes making of the movie type footage on the DVDs, like what they do for the extended editions of Lord of the Rings.

Let's see, the Yule Ball was better than I expected, Voldemort was better than I expected (my sister was a little bothered by his nose, but, hey, that's what it says he has in the book), and there was a great balance of humor and action. Oh, the only thing that bothered me was that Dumbledore was too...violent.

I loved this line: P.S. The bird bites. (hooray, Padfoot!)

shouldn't we put spoiler tags for the movie? o_O;

watched GoF today too, it was AWSOME!
Show content
But they completely cut out Prof. Trawlney (sp?), and they didn't put in Dobby or Ludo Bagman either. The Yule Ball was amazing.
I didn't like how the movie was so fast-paced though, I wish they didn't skip so many parts. I liked the old Dumbledore actor better. This one didn't act calm and mild at all.
The ferret scene was funny too! Mad-Eye Moody was a little too hyper in the movie though, in my opinion.
The first task was great, the Horntail was so cool! But they stretched that scene, Harry got chased around the school.
The second task was the best in my opinion. It was sort of creepy how the victims were unconscious. Fleur's sister looked like a oversized doll. The merepeople were cool too. I liked how Neville got all horriefied and went "I killed Harry Potter!", then Harry did the flip from the water behind him. Neville was so funny in the movie too! How he was practicing dancing for the Yule Ball was hilarious.
The third task was different from the book, wish they put in the acromantula and the sphinx.
Voldemort looks freaky! The Death Eaters remind me of people from the Ku Klux clan.
overall, the movie was great! I want to buy the soundtrack too!  :keke:

Ahhh the movie was to DIE for!! I was drooling over Daniel Radcliffe ^^;

I had mixed emotions when I saw Voldemort and the rest of the movie
Show content
First I got mad because he killed Cedric! (He's pretty good looking...)
I screamed when I first saw the ugly baby thing which was Voldemoret.*shudder* so ugly >.<
Then I laughed because he had no nose. After seeing the person who plays him, I laughed harder.  :sweatdrop:
I cried a bit when Cedric died, they actually had him put up a bit of a fight instead of dying instantly. It broke my heart when I saw
Cho's face =( They skipped SO MUCH! Grrr!! I wanna see Winky the house elf TToTT
I nearly DIED when I saw Harry in the prefects bathroom. Oh gosh, I'm blushing...

Neville had a bigger part in this move I think...I like him, hes pretty funny ^^ Espeiclly when he practised dancing for the
Yule Ball! So sweet when I saw him and Ginny dancing. The Yule Ball looked really pretty! Like a winter wonderland it was! ^^

Oh, if I got teary for the fourth movie, I know for sure that I'll be sobbing during the next movie. I had to put the book down to cry when I first read it. ^^

I also can't wait to see the Department of Mysteries! It sounds so surreal and cool, it'll be so neat to see on screen. ^^

I'm usually very happy with all the people they choose for the roles, and that includes Lupin and Sirius. I know a few of my friends didn't like those two actors for the roles, and so they didn't like the third movie among other things, but it turns out the third movie is my favorite. I can't wait to see them act again in the next movie. All the scenes with the Order I'm looking forward to.
