well, just curious...^^"
i'd prefer Fye, probably since it gives me an exotic feeling.....
-
Fai's the direct translation from his Japanese name. :) I guess that's why I chose it. :)
-
I'm use to spelling his name "Fai", but somehow now I spell his name "Fay" because when I brought the official TRC fanbook it is spelt "Fay" and even the ofiicial Japanese DVD's spell it "Fay" too, so I think thats the correct way of spelling his name.
-
I spell it "Fai" because that's they way you'd have to write on the keyboard to write the name in Japanese....(aka romaji of the name)
-
Going with 'Fai' since that's the translated spelling in the English Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle manga :)
-
Well, the official spelling IS "Fay" according to the guides and merchandise, etc.. But I usually write "Fai" because like Mina said, when I TYPE "Fai" in Japanese that's the easiest way to do it.. But not only is it typed that way, but that is the correct romanization of those characters.
So I guess I'm going by more of a translation of the name instead of the "official" way.. Also, "Fay" just looks like it's pronounced as if it rhymes with "say" to me, and that bothers me... -_- So I use it sometimes ((since it IS official...)), but not often...
And I have no idea where "Fye" even came from... I don't get that one at all... O.O I mean, I see how it LOOKS like it's pronounced the same, but I still wonder who made it up! XD
-
Fye... because of the german translation.
And I think, it looks better than Fai or Fay ^^
-
Haha...I use almost all of them interchangably. I think I probably use Fai and Fye the most, but I have also used Fay and Faye. It actually probably has the most to do with whoever posted before me who I'm responding to...I tend to spell it the way I most recently read it without thinking about it. ^^;;
-
I usually use Fai. I just like it.
-
Never really thought about it, but I guess I use Fai. It looks the way it's pronounced.
-
I usually go with Fye, since I first encountered his name spelled like that. I couldn't go with Fay, official as it may be, since it makes me want to pronounce it rhyming with "day". Then, as said, Fai is how it is written in kana... The spelling Fai looks so happy to me, probably because it makes me think of "wai", whereas Fye represents our magician's sadness for me. Or something like that. :sweatdrop:
-
Fai.
From reading the manga, I've just gotten used to it like that. So if I ever see a subtitled ep of Tsubasa and it says 'Fay' I'll be going 'WHAAAADDDT?!?! NO. DON'T CONFUSE MY BRAIN!!!! ;_;'
...But...yeah. I spell it 'Fai' 'cause of Del Ray's manga translations.
-
There's like too many ways to spell it. I always get frustrated because everywhere I go someone always spells it different. It never seems to fail. Lol
-
It would be a little easier if there was just one way to spell it, because then if you want to do a search for one particular thing about him, or a site or image that you found earlier, you don't have to do it four times over...
-
I read the Manga long before I found the anime and it was always spelled Fai. I don't mind the Fye spelling but the others just seem too weird.
-
I just spell it Fai
-
i say fai
-
Fai, I like how its spelled that way.....
-
I think it's spelles as Fye... ?.?
-
well, im too used to fai right now. fye is almost like.. rye? haha, bad comparrison. but anyway, it just has a more japanese feel to it.. so fai it is for me.. even del ray uses fai i think... not at home, so cant really check..
-
well,it's hard to explain but fai sounds chinese to me...hmm, because a chinese word often used in names is "directly translated" as "fai"......and i can't help pronouncing it in the chinese way, i'm too used to it :P
-
i watched the anime before the manga and so i used to use fye first. now i find my self using fai now cuz its easiest to tpye. Fay looks to much like day or Faye really.
-
I came across Fye first, so I've just stuck with it. Plus I'm just being stubborn, I don't like how Fai looks!
-
Fai because i don't know his name in Kanji so thats how i would write it in katakana...also Fai sounds so foriegn and original...also its how Del Ray manga spells it so im most used to it
also for near me there is Music store called FYE so i don't wanna spell it like that

as far as i know the name doesn't have a kanji version :) (or it will be used in the Chinese version... :P)
but i'm not real sure though..........
-
It's true, there is no kanji for Fai. Since the name is foreign, it's only written in katakana.
And wingless_godess, there's one of those f.y.e stores near me, too, so I can't spell it that way without thinking about that, either! XD
-
Fai because that's how always tpy it! XD and most people tpy that way anyway lol
-
I'm stuck with Fai cause Fay and Faye are actually pronounced like "day" at least here in my country and I'm think Fye looks strange in computer. But honestly speaking, Fye looks so much better since it looks foreign which fits Fai's character perfectly.
-
i'm not sure if it's because del rey put "Fai" as his name first...(i think they still do actually...-can't find tsubasa books- :dodge:)
Fai just sounds more authentic japanese-ish...YES i know he's supposed to be foreign...but the other spellings just scream at me... :sweatdrop:
-
The name "Fai" has already been engraved in my mind so I'll just have to stick with it :P

same here xD
-
Fai... I just can't get it out of my head { Rats!!! just when I forgot that song }
-
I was watching an episode of TRC at youtube and it is Spelled Fye in the subtitle, Why is That!? I still prefer to call him Fai.

in season 1, thats how Tofusensei spelled it. then he switched to Faye (O_o) i think he meant "Fay" which is the anime offical spelling, according to fais comercial bumps. but the official splling, is indeed FAI.

Live Evil and DB used 'Fye' because that's what Be With You used and they were the first people scanlating the manga. Until recently they were the only group doing TRC so 'Fye' has stuck in a lot of people's minds.
The official way is Fay. That's how it's spelled during th e anime's commerical breaks and I've seen some stuff from CLAMP where it's spelled that way.
Fai, I'm not sure where it came from. (English manga perhaps?)

I'm so used to using 'Fai' ^^; So I find it hard for me to use the spelling 'Fye'. I suppose I'm so used to it because that's how they spell it in the english manga.

Rekall: The spelling "Fai" comes from the romanization of Fai's name. In Japanese, his name is written with the characters "Fu-a-i" with the "a" small. When there is a small character immediately after a regular sized one, it's sound takes the place of the previous characters' ending sound. (Changing "Fu" to "Fa," in this case.) Which makes the romanization "Fai."
Wow, I made that sound way more complicated than it actually is.. Sorry, I suck at explaining things like that.. ^_^;;;

fei is not a spelling is it? @_@

No, no one has ever spelled it like that.. ^_^;; That's FWR's name... I have NO idea why it's in this poll! XD
How could "F-e-i" ever be pronounced "F-a-i?" XD
