Title: On stars and levels
Post by: Ando on March 10 2006, 09:49 am: Logic tells me that there must be a topic about this somewhere, but I seem unable to find it, despite having looked through the News and Announcement section as well as the FAQ. Knowing me though, I wouldn't be surprised if I have managed to miss it completely. If so, I apologize.

I have two questions.
First: what's with the little stars right below a person's username? Does it have to do with post count, number of cookies, total time logged in, or what?

Second: is there a list somewhere to be found about the number of posts required to advance in levels? That is, from Newbie to New Fan, etc? I'm just asking out of curiousity, mind you.

And it seems like we did have a topic somewhere where people talked about the number of posts to reach certain levels, but that was so long ago.

You can kind of tell about the levels by looking at other people's post count and seeing what level they are at. I honestly can't remember now when I hit certain 'fan levels' or even what they were! But yeah, they go by post count.
I'm guessing you'll hit the next one at 100 posts. ^_^

not strictly true, since the Fan level continues to go up while the stars stay the same (example is Die-Hard fan and Freak Fan both have 5 stars)

well, we can't have like 10 stars if you're a freak fan :sweatdrop: that'd look bad

well I've seen other sites do it pretty well, Instead of adding more stars all the time, they change colour etc, Like start off green then blue then yellow etc. Silver, gold and platinum would be used for the mods, global mods and admins too.

The maximum stars you can get is yes, 5. Admins and mods should have a different color for their stars. hm.. I don't think it works correctly right now though. :sweatdrop: wait a sec.. ok it works now. :)

Your level still might change as you post more but you will never have more than 5 stars. Having more will ruin the forum's layout and will only make it look ugly.

And yes, the level names are top-secret. :greengrin:
