This is a really weird question, but since this forum seems to be so international and since this isn't the easiest thing to find by googling... Could you please tell me what the words for "peach" and "peach blossom" are in your language? Your help would be highly appreciated!
...And for all you crazed fangirls out there who immediately start to fantasize about some juicy yaoi Touya/whoever fanfic: this is for a little original story I'm about to write which will feature a person whose name simply has to have a connection with "peach", and the few otherlanguage-ishly words for this fruit I know just does not fit as a name.
Thanks in advance!

Big thanks to you too, Sabrina!
Miss Endoh: if you know, could you tell me how to pronounce the first e in pêssego?
I looked up a few more which I am going to publish in here just for the fun of it (so that this thread will eventually become the place where most international words for "peach" are listed):
Russian: персик (persik)
Albania: pjeshkë
Bosnian, Serbian and Kroatian: breskva
Turkish: şeftali
Does anyone here happen to know Turkish? Is the 'ş' pronounced [sh] or what?
Now I'm really curious of where this second cookie of mine came from...

i verified with my mom about how to say peach in tagalog and well.. it is also just "peach".
let's say in tagalog, we were going to say "let's go eat peaches". it would be spelled out as "kain na tayo ng peaches". i don't know.. maybe i'm wrong about how to say it but there is no word for peach or peach blossom in tagalog.
my mom told me that they don't have a word for peach because there are no peach trees in the philippines, which is understandable.
-
the real korean:복숭아(is this allowed??, if it isn't, sorry)
-
Yes ando, it's in Turkish 'şeftali' with 'ş' and pronounced [sh].
-
Thanks to all of you guys as well!
Now I'm just going to say "thanks in advance" and send telepathic cookies to everyone who contributes with more words after this post, or else I'll start to feel as if I'm spamming.
