This thread is for discussion of the movie/book The Chronicles of Narnia. I saw it today, and I found that it was so fantastic! It differs from the book, but all the same, it's really fantastic!
-
Yes, it's a really good movie! I still need to read the books though. ( maybe once I'm finished with the harry potter series.. )
-
Yes, definitely. Read the books! I highly recommend the third one! As for the movie, I will say that the do take out scenes from the books, which is to be expected, but they also add more to the movie! It's really hard to decide which is better! I like them both!
-
Only reason to see movie:
PETER and SUSAN
-
In my personal opinion, I didn't really care much for Peter. I actually related to Edmond more than any other character. Right from the beginning Peter bullied him, and treated him like he was worthless. I could see why Edmond would act the way he did. By far, Edmond was my favorite character.
-
I will read the book soon, I guess. It is waiting in my bookcase, the whole colection! :keke:
The movie was nice, my favorite character... Lucy. And Peter, I guess. The white horse he was riding at the end was BEAUTIFUL!! I wish I could ride one just like it!!! :inlove:
-
Edmond was a horrible character. My least fav character out of all of them.
Besides I saw a much better movie in the cinema today..
THE PRODUCERS!!!
So funny.. a Must See!!
-
I saw the movie with my school :haha:
I have to say that this was one of the best I have seen!
I've just started recently reading the series again. I'm on the fifth! ^-^
I got mad at Edmund when he told the White Witch all the things about Aslan and such. But then after I guess I kind of forgave him. But by far my favourite characters are Peter and Lucy. Lucy is just so kawaii!
-
Part of the reason I liked Edmond so much was because he was the angst character. I always relate to those. I'm partly angst myself, and I can relate to the character. The more depressed and lonely the character is, the more I like them. I also liked Lucy, but Edmond was by far my favorite. And the fact that he changed and sacraficed himself for everybody made me love him all the more.

the movie looks good!! but its so grahpic ><" i think a real lion would do the movie some good. just a thought. O_O nevertheless i still want to see it! looks reallyy cute xP

I thought maybe Aslan would fight back, but little did I know that he'd be killed. Such a sad part. ; ;

Yes, that was such a sad scene. I knew what was going to happen, because I've read the books, but I still cried at that scene.

I also cheered when Aslan came back!

I loved the movie! There were some "cheesy" scenes but... putting those aside, it was awesome.
the beginning of the movie..
Show content
When the mother have to send her children away made me cry, it was so sad.... it wasn't in the book but this additoinal scene makes you realize it wasn't all happy
you know, I always wonder about the ending..
Show content
In the end, the children grow up in Narnia but come back to their world and they are still children. They still remember what happened in Narnia, right? Does that mean in their minds, they were the age they grew up to be in Narnia, while they are back to their old appearances?

If you want the answer to that, read the other 6 books; if you haven't already. That will reveal everything.

I saw this movie the day after Christmas, and I really liked it. I also got the books for Christmas, but I've only read a little bit of The Magician's Nephew so far.

Not to be all religious and all, but have any of you noticed how the movie is related to the real world and what Aslan kinda represents?
-
I liked the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, but the other books don't really do it for me...I don't know I tried reading the Silver Chair and I just stopped it got so long winded for me and I had no desire to continue. The movie I thought was very well done!!

you could barely see the religious aspect of it, i mean unless you were looking for it

Yeah! I personally prefer the 3rd book!Show content
When you read the 7th book you will see that it will be FAR way more obvious about it and you will learn to hate certain monkey, well I don't say any more so that I don't spoil the books! :tongue3:

The third book is my favorite as well! It's by far the best! I love it!
-
I am right now still reading the fifth. Whenever I read the book, I seem to read the same line over and over again....
The third book was wonderful! ^_^ I have to remind myself to start reading the book again when I'm not so busy with dance and such.
-
I saw the movie a few weeks ago, and I was pleased at how much of the original book was kept in.....hardly any scenes were actually cut out, although it was never explained exactly why the grown up Pevensies were riding through the forest at the end of the movie (they were hunting a white stag).
However, I didn't like the actress playing the White Witch, and I kind of preferred the BBC production from years ago.
I loved the books when I was a kid...I think I read them when after my teacher read Voyage Of The Dawn Treader to us when I was 8....my favourite has to be books 4 (Prince Caspian) and 5 (Voyage Of The Dawn Treader) just because of Caspian and (in book 5) Eustace.
But I didn't really like Book 3 (The Horse And His Boy) and 7 (The Last Battle).

Originally book 3 was The Voyage of the Dawn Thread, but it was changed around (info curtesy of VexNet,) and that by far is my favorite! It's so great Show content
with the pirates, and the gold, and how Lucy and Edmond's cousin changes from a whiney spoiled brat to a fine young man! That was my favorite by far! It truly was a good thing that he turned into a dragon
-
Because of The Magician's Nephew being placed as number one because it was the prologue?
-
Because of The Magician's Nephew being placed as number one because it was the prologue?
Yes, exactly. Show content
Since The Magician's Nephew told how Narnia was created, they convinced C.S. Lewis to edit and rearrange the books. It was made as The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe first. That was the very first book he wrote.
I like it just how it is. Since both you and VexNet said this, I'm sure that it's common in England, but it didn't happen here in the states; at least not to my knowledge.
-
I can't wait to see the movie again! I think it's still playing in theathres. I heard like a week ago that its still getting sold out or it was a week ago.
I absolutely love this movie! I'm reading the books at the moment. I can't wait until I can buy it!
-
Hm.. I haven't seen it yet. I heard that it's pretty good. That's what my friend told me.
-
well done moezy for spreading copies of illegal videos.
while your at it, give copies of it to everyone you know at the school.
i'm sure they would love to see it too..
-
My mom bought the music inspired by the movie CD!! It is so wonderful!! (well, I liked it)
Have any of you listened to it yet?
-
Kyaa~Lucky Monse-chan!!
I want to hear it, is it that good?
-
i saw the film but did not read the book...
the movie was really great and i have a little dislike for Edmond at the beginning of the movie. perhaps i have a younger brother too and i thought Edmond in the movie behaved like a spoilt brat..

i did not expect Aslan to return alive though :tongue3:

Well, I personally liked the songs a lot, because most of them talk about the characters and how they feel and act. :)
Should I upload it? That way you can hear it too!! Although I don't know how to upload stuff, I am sure I can learn
-
In the beginning of the movie I was like:"What!!?? Is this really Narnia!? Am I in right movie theater?"
And really annoying...in last battle where Peter were fightning with white wizard. White wizard were kind of kung-fu user, it was very laughable scene...now in every movie there is lots of kung-fu-things...very annoying..
And Tumnus faun were like flirting with Lucy *laugh*
I didn't like white wizard because she wasn't so scary person like one of tv-programmed Narnia-serie. She was like fairy - an evil fairy.
I don't know..It was good and then it was not good...I like books more...
-
Oh, wow! I can't believe I never saw this thread!
I love the movie! It was soooo good! I was crying when Show content
Aslan was "killed." That was so sad.... But I cried the most at the end when all the Peter was hugging Edmund! That was soooo happy! :)

I love the Narnia books, and the film was really good!
My favourite books are The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe, and The Magician's Nephew (the first book).
<3 Yay Narnia!

Funny, just when I was thinking of one of those blurred childhood memories of something you saw a short glimpse of on TV years and years ago and never found out what it was, I notice this thread, and the things you people say about that Edmund guy got me thinking that one of those blurred memories might be from the old Narnia series...
What I remember is this: a bunch of kids being inside a dark cave or suchlike, along with a big, talking animal (it might have been a beaver, but I'm actually not very sure). One boy exclaims that they've got to save [insert boy name], to which the animal answers that it is too late, as the witch has already blackened his heart and that he will never recover from that.
Judging from the little I know about Narnia, this does sound like it might be from the series, but can anyone confirm?

Yes, that happens in 'The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.' I <3 the beavers.

Childhood mystery solved! Thank you, Jeannette.
