Title: Beliefs/Disbeliefs in various Holiday Characters/Creatures/ Disscusions
Post by: Star on September 25 2005, 11:35 am
Hiya!  Star here

This was Inspired by the what do you want for Christmas thread

The question is do you still believe in any holiday characters? Why?  Or do you not believe and Why?

Star's Answers
I still believe in Santa!
but because of the internet taking over the toy business and people overspending on their brats

Santa went out of business and lives on a block near my house and traded his sleigh in for a red wagon and now wanders around aimlessly stealing other people's newspapers

Easter Bunny  is also believed in because the bunny is scared witless because of my cat attacking it!  I leaves notes (signed T.E. Bunny) and bags of candy by the door instead!!

I don't believe in the Easter bunny, Santa Clause, nor the tooth fairy. My cousins made me disbelieve in them.  :sweatdrop: ...
But ironically, I believe in vampires, demons, ghosts and the other sorts o_O.

I do believe in ghosts  Mom saw an Orb in her room the other day  that ghost likes to haunt the kleenex box but it gets annoyed whenever the light gets turned on so it attacked the light

My aunt also saw a ghost at the foot of her bed when she was younger

I don't believe in Vampires though (at least not the traditional ones)  because of a math problem

well I don't remember it exactly but it went sorta like if one vampire infects another person and that one becoms vampire it went on and on and soon everyone in the whole world would be a vampire or something.

But there are in fact non traditional vampires in the world

I no longer believe in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, or the Tooth Fairy either. I posted my reason in the Christmas Thread as to why I don't believe in Santa, and that led to my disbelief on the Easter Bunny and the Tooth fairy; of course I believe in poltergeists, ghosts, and the ability to see into the future, but that's only because I get prophetic dreams.

Seriously I get dreams that say what's going to happen, and they always come true. I'm like Card Captor Sakura I guess.

I don't believe in the Easter Bunny. I stopped believing when I was 7.

Let me tell you the time I stopped believing. One night, the night before Easter, my mom and dad left me at my aunt's house because they had to leave for... Boston?

And, uh, yeah. As like other eves of holidays, I spent the whole night awake, thinking of the awesome candy I would get from the Easter Bunny. around 5:00AM I tried to get to sleep. Then I gave up and started looking around the room. The room was a bit visible now that it wasn't that dark. And then I saw my aunt. MY AUNT puting the chocolate on the stairs, hiding the eggs, leaving the chocolate around. My eyes grew wide and I let out a gasp.

My aunt noticed this and her eyes got wide, too. She whispered to me, "Go to sleep!" So I turned around, still scarred from that moment. I was hurt that the Easter Bunny wasn't real (I was a real Drama Queen when I was younger). And that is why I don't believe in the Easter Bunny. I still like the candy :keke:.

I stopped believing in Santa when I was what? 7 or 8? I saw my parents putting the presents in the sack, so that kind of woke me up a bit! I've never believed in the Easter Bunny, and I'm never sure about the Tooth Fairy, LOL. Myabe it's your parents....but how do they lift your pillow without waking you up?  :rotfl:

That's how it was in my family too. We didn't believe in Halloween because my mother always said if we did, we were believing in the devil and we would go to hell. After I got older, I finally got a mind of my own. Honestly, how can dressing up and asking for candy be evil?

Halloween was originally a holiday called All Hallows Eve. It started over 1,000 years ago, where people believed that the dead walked the Earth. They believed that the this was the day where we could actually make contact with the other side, as in the non-living.

I think it was meant to be giving the evil creatures gifts to make them go away, so they wouldn't take things like thier children....but I'm not sure.

no...
it was a banishing of all evil creatures / spirits to protoct the town or village.
a sacrafice was made to keep them at bay (later replaced with gifts)

its annoying when so many people have to make stuff up and claim it to be real.

and we did ^^ *but it took awhile for them to find candy, since they dont celebrate it* XD~~

It's spelled emphasized. And we don't get many kids either. My mother swears that we'll all go to he** if we celebrate Halloween.

Really?  I always thought it was to either to trick the demons or scare them away or something....   I LOVE halloween too much to believe that  ( it's good to be lutheran! lol  :toothy9:  )

Even Still I'll dress up ready to hand out candy  lol   3 kids yup  (and it's not like we don't see them everyday already and feed them food at least once a week)

Hehe, I don't think I'm going to go trick-or-treating this year. Maybe. I just love the candy. My friends think we're too old to go trick-or-treating, but I did last year because my cousin made herself and I both a Tomoeda Elementary uniforms (they were great!). I was a little wary at first because I thought my neighbours would shoot us dirty looks (a you're-too-old-halloween-is-for-little-kids-only look). But they didn't! Some of my neighbours said, "What the heck, I know your family" and gave us candy. A couple were impressed at our costumes. and gave us candy. A couple didn't know what we were dressed up as and were embarassed, so they gave us candy. Only a COUPLE shot us dirty looks and lied and said they were out of candy, even though I could see a bowl of candy poorly hidden behind them. A couple even pretended they didn't give out candy by closing their lights and stuff. But it was okay and I got my candy XD

Lol, I stopped going trick-o-treating a few years back. I don't know why! I miss going out and getting people's candy. xDDD Ahh the memories... I think there was a time when someone egged my neighbors' house. oO;;

I don't think I ever remember seriously believing in any of those. I'm sure I probably did, when I was very young... I have pictures of sitting on the mall Santa's lap and such... but I really don't have any memories from before kidnergarten. (And no, I'm not like Syaoran... lol) Just my first conscious memories are around that time. And my parents would write "From Santa" and that on the presents but I kind of always knew. Maybe they weren't sneaky enough about it. ^^;; And they never made that big a deal about the Easter Bunny, either.. I always knew grandma was hiding the eggs!

I haven't been trick-or-treating since I was around 8 years old. My parents stopped taking us... for the same reasons as moezy-chan has said. :sweatdrop: We always went to a church party thing that was meant to be a 'substitute' where they gave us bags of candy for coming.

Because I'm influenced by paganism I believe in Samhain, and therefore Hallow'een. I always celebrate at night
the more spirits about the merrier. Santa Claus is okay with me too. I'm relatively Shinto/Buddhist and we have
an army of spirits moving about, engaging in the world we know.
