Ok and I just made this new topic,here it goes:
Choose what weapon you like to use if you're a cardcaptor: The Staff(like Sakura and Eriol used)or The Sword(Syaoran used)?

1: slash & hack (i cant see a staff doing that really~ :P)

I'm going with the staff =p Because they're fun to swing around and you can use magic with them.

Hehe, I would definately use staff :P Don't you think Sakura's " star" staff looks cool?? And its sooo handy with the transformation (from key to staff).

I'd want Meilin's butt-kickin' karate skills! She's a dangerous weapon herself! Seriously though, I'd probably go with a sword like Shaoran's simply because I think it looks cool. ^^

YES! Mei Lin! I miss her. ;_; I wish she'd appear on Tsubasa. Besides that, hell yes! Mei Lin's mad skills are wha anyone wants. She's so cool! XD
Ahh...Syaoran's cool sword. Of course, everybody wants a cool sword like Syaoran's. But no one can handle it better than him...;P [swoons]

I would have to go with Syaoran's uber-kool sword :hehe: I love Sakura's wand too, but it's just a bit too girly for my taste :confused: *huggles Sakura-chan*

i dunno what i prefer...i can't choose...but if i have staff hopefully that means i have magic and i can turn it into a sword anyway ^^

You can use it to bonk people. >.< But then again, you don't need a wand for that.

I'd have to say the staff. It can be more easily concealed than Syaoran's sword as the key necklace so if you had to infiltrate, you can get away with it a lot easier. Both have very powerful mystical properties but of course the sword has a slight advantage for you can slice meat and cheese with it while the staff will only make a mess :tongue3:

I'd take the magic staff.. :P :D because it can also turn into a sword.. LoL.. its really hard choosing between those two.. but as soon as you find a loop.. [like being able to change it into a sword] its really easy! :D

I'm a boy, and since I believe that swords are better for the visceral feel of the blade cutting flesh and not for spellcasting, I'd have to pick a bowstaff. Held in the same manner as a double-bladed sword.
There is one instance, however, in which Syaoran uses a card without his sword. Dash. He holds his two forefingers in front of his face while holding the card in his left hand.

I would use this technique and prioritize it over anything else, even a bowstaff.

Personally, give me a morningstar or shruiken...now THOSE are weapons :)

Whoa!!This topic gone hotter than I thought,so I chose the staff because it's good when casting spells like Sakura does.The sword is good too but there are durability,endurance and carefullness when using it!!! :okay:

Well, I'd choose the staff if it was a little less showy.
All you really need is a good solid beating stick, right?

Personally I would pick a bow and arrow . But if I had a choice it would be a staff in the shape of the sun, but I love swords too so it is hard to choose.

Besides, the sword is just as good as the staff....you can still use cards with it...but you can use ofudas too. Plus you can cut down anyone in your way.

That said, keep in mind a few things about the staff and the sword:
1) The staff can transform into a sword, which powers is dictated by the will of the user. It has been shown to slice through solid rock!
2) The sword in theory can deflect the staff, though not for a prolonged period of time. It deflected The Sword and it can also hold of mystical attacks. The only way the staff can do that is to use The Shield.
3) Syaoran's sword can be used as a regular weapon, where as Sakura's staff MUST be activated from its form as a key.
4) Again, in theory, the staff can NOT be broken. Its mystical properties will not allow it to be broken into pieces (as I wrote in my fanfic story 'Arcademan: In the Cards...' when a villain tried to bend and break it only to have a backlash of magick smithe the villain). The sword, with its mystical properties may have the same thing but if it ran out of magick, it would most likely become another metal sword unless the metal itself was forged by magick.
Heh...just adding more fuel to the fire :wink:

Yup, that's a good choice to have Syaoran's sword and his magic. After all, you can't use the cards or ofudas with just the sword :sweatdrop: (It might slice through it if you don't have magic :XD:)

I'd be more of a fan of the Staff, yeah they can both use magic but a staff can look so much neater =D Plus I'd be too afraid I'd cut myself with the sword, and I already have a sword that's pretty much the same ^^

I think the staff is the best, because staffs are always related to magic and casting spells, and fighting with staffs is also cool!

Ah, Syaoran is TOO cool!
And when he was doing all the practice moves in his room with the sword, that was awesome.
But...
I'd choose the staff. Yukito's staff in Tsubasa looks really cool.
Also Sakura's star wand is just really cute. :O)
And yeah, you could use it to fly if you had too.
OT: I saw a store online that sells wood swords for cosplay. One of those looked very similar to Syaoran's sword.

Well, Kero said that the strength of the Sword Card is maximized by the will of the user or something like that. Like, if you barely wanted to scratch somebody with it, the Sword Card would wound them, and if you wanted to wound them with it, then....so, it all depends on the will of the user. I wonder what would happen if Shaoran had gotten the Sword Card....Would it make his sword even stronger? Would it it extend the length of his sword? Or would it give him two swords?

Yeah he is but i was talking about syaoran's particular sword for him not the big long one Kurogane uses.There is absolutely no doubt that Kurogane can master his sword.Anyhow i still choose the staff for all it can do.

i think the staff but only if I'll be given all the clow/sakura cards and magical powers along with it. If that's asking too much then the sword is better. oh and don't bother to arrange it for me. I think I'll go and ask for it from syaoran myself. just tell me where to find him. :heh:

Of course the sword. I always like the way he used his talisman to summond the thunder, lighting, fire and wind. It is very different and unique from the shows which i watch where they used sword and talisman too. He reminds me of the hongkong tv series, 'I have a date with vampires'. Some how similar with the slayer ma xiao ling.

There are many 2 kinds of swords can be used.Syaoran's sword is one-handed and easily lifted if you have quite strength and the Two-handed that mostly used some knights and crusaders in medival ages that really utter heavy enough to lift while the staff got also this. :hehe:

There might actually be a place here where you can do that.
I just have been too lazy to look into it, I guess.
Plus those kinds of lessons are really expensive.

I want... a spear! haha I have one already... and I like it cause it keeps the fresh feel of the close range slash and the neat short range stab :] lol but back to the topic... I would like syaoran's sword, it's just unbelievably cool!! ^_^ lol and you can use the charms too O_o along with stabbing the cards to use them haha [never really got why the sword went through the card O_O]

Still like the Star Staff...
If there are later, unwritten adventures of Sakura, she would have the ability to create new Sakura Cards so she can create "The Weapon" card, then my choice of morningstar would definitely come into play :D

Swords are nice but I'd still take a morningstar over them...better long-range attack weapon and does widespread damage on top of that :)

Forgive for going into detail here
For me, I'd go for a sword.
I've been trained while young (Started training with a sword at age 5) and I know how to use the thing, I also know how to use two sword's at once without causing harm to myself
But, other than sword, I would have to choose a staff as well for blunt damage, but for internal damage, I'll take a sword :)

The sword is a weapon of art.. it shouldn't be wielded by novices... thats why those new to the art often use a wooden sword
The same applys for Polearms.. a novice wouldn't know how to use it effectly without thus causing injury to thy self. Thats why they have a wooden pole
Ahh.... to be able to practice those arts... its just to bad my legs prevent me from doing that anymore *sigh and looks at the razor sharp sword he has on his desk*
