Since we have a Digimon thread, why not a Pokemon thread?  I admit that I used to like Pokemon back when it first came on.  I remember when it was aired on Fox early on the weekday mornings while I had to go to school, so I had to tape it every day to watch it.  Then, Pokemon moved to the Kid's WB and for a while I couldn't watch it because I didn't get the WB at the time, but eventually I got the WB and I happily started watching it again.  I really liked the older episodes and the movies.  While the Pokemon have always been the stars of the show, the older episodes focused more on the human characters and there was actually some character development.  Granted, it was very slow development, but it was there and I liked the love/hate relationship Ash and Misty had.  Then, the show got to the Johto Journeys and it became nothing but sucky filler-ins and focused too much on the Pokemon and not enough on the human characters.

I still watched it every once and a while whenever Kid's WB showed reruns on weekday afternoons out of boredom, but when they got to Advanced Generation I just gave up on it.  I missed seeing Misty and Brock wasn't his usual flirty self anymore that made him such a funny character.  No matter how many times he flirted with Nurse Joy or Officer Jenny, I never got tired of watching Brock doing it.  It wasn't the same without Team Rocket's older Pokemon, who I always loved to death, and I hated the new characters, Max and May.  They really annoyed me, especially in the episode where you met their family for the first time.  I still like to watch the movies, though.  The movies seem to have better storylines and animation than the TV show.  If only the series could be produced with the same kind of quality....Anyway, are there any Pokemon fans or former Pokemon fans out there?

I'm a former Pokemon fan. I got introduced to it by my classmates not long after it first came out in Japan. I started to watch it and liked it, (being a younger elementary school kid  :heh: ). Then Pokemon was temporarily banned due to the incident in which lightning effect  of an episode caused many children to get sick. Then after a while, they aired it back on, making sure nothing of previous incident will happen again. That's wehre my memory gets fuzzy. I know watched it after it came out, but I think I stopped soon after they added more Pokemons to the original existing ones. I didn't like the new Pokemons, and I stopped watching it.

Now I can't even stand watching an episode.... I could stand a movie, but not an episode... I even forgot what the original names of the characters were...

I use to be a former Pokemon fan, when I was younger, in grade 4 for I think. Anyway, use to be in love with the show, spend many dollars on merchandise and such. The first few seasons were okay, I liked the former trio, and how they use to get to know each other. Also use to like it when I could actually remember the pokemon when the amount were under 100. Whatever happen to the good old pokemons? Anyway, when Johto League came around and that kid named Tracy joined in, I gave up on it. Didn't like it much. The movies are okay though, they seem understandable. The cliches are really bad though, and especially in the dub. I can't stand Team Rocket in the dub, dont know why, just dont.

Advanced isnt that bad I guess, just watched the few episodes really. May is tolerable, its her little know it all brother that drives me up the wall. Why is he even in the show? Does he make a difference except make Brock's ears a little bigger due to the abuse? Did he get private lessons from Misty? -_-

Don't watch it much anymore, maybe on a blue moon, the show is getting repetitive, and my anime prefences has changed in the years, I dont find little monsters beating the crap out of each other cool anymore.

If you guys recall how cool pokemon was in the 1990's? Holy shit! Man, everyone had pokemon cards, if you didn't you were a cheap nerd who needed one! I remember I had bloody 700 cards, I'm serious XD I even had over 20 t-shirts of pokemon, and all the games, on gameboy! After I left the fandom, I sold all of my stuff, got a wopping $800 dollars back from the stuff I bought XD Cept, I got the games still. The game never gets old ^^

pokemon season 1, is the ONLY ... i say ONLY good series. the rest are totally useless and pointless.

So I'm not the only one who thinks Pokemon went downhil after they increased the number of Pokemons? I liked the original  trio better too.
I stil have some cards and tons of small Pokemon dolls in a wooden box I made in craft class in 5th grade... I haven't opened that box in a while...
I never did understand the cards though... I don't even remember how I have them... I just liked the pictures  :XD:
