WWE NXT Results: 4-5-11

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results only.

The cast of Season Five of WWE NXT (Pros):

-- Darren Young (Chavo Guerrero)
-- Jacob Novak (JTG)
-- Byron Saxton (Yoshi Tatsu)
-- Conor O'Brian (Kozlov)
-- Lucky Cannon (Tyson Kidd)
-- Titus O'Neil (Hornswoggle)

Redemption Points:
O'Neil - 9
Young - 7
Saxton - 4

1 -- CONOR O'BRIAN (w/Kozlov) vs. JACOB NOVAK (w/JTG)

Kozlov was in a suit with his shoulder in a sling to sell Corre's attack at Axxess on Saturday. Grisham said Novak changed from white trunks to gold trunks because Saxton said it looked like he was wearing diapers. Grisham said with conviction now it looks like Novak peed his diapers. Grisham added some meaningless trivia that Conor has two dogs. "I don't like dogs," Regal said in his low, ominous voice. Novak hung Conor upside down in the corner and Conor sold like he was folded up like an accordion. On-stage, Hornswoggle was perplexed by the predicament. Grisham noted Conor was shaken, but not stirred. "Where do you come up with this stuff?" Regal dryly asked. Conor then ducked a clothesline and rolled up Novak in the corner to score the win with a small package. Kozlov had a big laugh and congratulated Conor on the win with his one good arm.

WINNER: Conor at 4:11. Forgettable, basic match. One of these two will likely be the first to go.

2 -- CHAVO GUERRERO & DARREN YOUNG vs. TITUS O'NEIL & HORNSWOGGLE

The announcers wondered if Titus should even tag in Hornswoggle here. They noted Titus's undefeated streak on NXT so far. Grisham and Regal then re-visited that awful period of TV on Raw when Chavo and Hornswoggle feuded and seemingly had a match every week. Horny then tagged himself in and told Chavo he wants Young. Chavo obliged and told Young not to hurt him. Young dropped down to both knees to wrestle Horny at his level, so Horny kicked him in the mid-section. Chavo then took a kick to the shin while standing on the apron.

Horny got in enough offense and tagged in Titus instead of pressing his luck. There was some confusion on the legal man leading to Horny biting Chavo on the foot. Horny then went home under the ring. Chavo gave chase. Meanwhile, Titus smashed Young with his sit-out slam finisher for the pin and the win. Chavo was dumbfounded by this. Horny and Titus then celebrated the victory for their kids.

WINNERS: Hornswoggle & Titus at 4:29. Comedy match for the kids complete with flashbacks to that Chavo-Hornswoggle feud.

3 -- TED DIBIASE vs. YOSHI TATSU

Yoshi showed early fire, including grabbing DiBiase by the cheek and slapping him across the face. Regal continued to stress that he feels DiBiase needs to get rid of Maryse. DiBiase then took control of the match and pounded on Yoshi with right hand blows. The ref reprimanded DiBiase, who did not adhere to a five count and was DQ'ed.

Post-match: Maryse yelled at DiBiase in French, then DiBiase jumped out of the ring and yanked the mic away from Maryse. DiBiase said he's had enough of Maryse on NXT. He gave her an ultimatum of NXT or him. Maryse looked straight ahead, not selling for the decision. DiBiase walked off and Maryse walked off with a frown. "What will The Decision be in seven days?" Grisham rhetorically asked to close the show.

WINNER: Yoshi via DQ at 1:57. As NXT Turns continues on next week...

Arcademan:
Ring of Honor's final episode on HDNet: 4-4-11

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report). There was only one final match while the rest of the show as a 'Best of...' material.

1 -- DAVEY RICHARDS & THE BRISCOES vs. RODERICK STRONG (w/Truth Martini) & KINGS OF WRESTLING (CHRIS HERO & CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI w/Sara Del Rey and Shane Hagadorn)

Nice back and forth to start with setting a deliberate, layered pace to the match. The babyface trio of the Briscoes & Davey got some early shine taking turns getting in offense before the heel trio got some offense in to antagonize the crowd. The action broke down a bit at 10:00 and the babyfaces executed a double suplex into top rope headbutt by Davey on Claudio for a two count. Claudio was in jeopardy of tapping out to a follow-up submission by Davey, but the heels broke it up.

A great sequence followed where Davey went for a handspring elbow strike, but Claudio caught Davey on his shoulders in mid-air to deliver a spinning UFO for a two count. Davey was isolated by the heels for the next few minutes, then Davey found himself on the floor taking abuse from the wrestling and non-wrestling heels. Once order was restored, Claudio tried to score a quick pin on Davey, but Davey escaped just in time.

Davey eventually escaped Strong with a handspring enziguiri and tagged out to the Briscoes, prompting a mini-tag battle between the Briscoes and KOW center-ring. The action broke down after the mini-battle and Del Rey found herself in the ring where she accidentally took a boot to the face from Claudio. The Briscoes then took out the KOW on the floor with a big double dive that popped the crowd.

Back in the ring, Richards and Davey traded control before Hagadorn inserted himself into the match. Martini tried to run interference from behind, but Davey ducked and Hagadorn ate the Book of Truth. After the confusion, Richards applied the anklelock on Strong. The crowd pounded the barricade looking for a tap-out, Richards grapevined the ankle, and Strong was forced to tap out, giving Richards and the Briscoes the win.

Post-match: the Briscoes and Davey celebrated the HDNet-conclusive victory as Truth cried ringside about the state of his book. The heels then left up the entrance ramp selling frustration and anger after taking the loss. The Briscoes did a victory lap, followed by Davey. Hogewood signed off as the babyfaces stood tall on the entrance ramp to conclude ROH's run on HDNet.

WINNERS: Team Davey & Briscoes at 26:15. Excellent, well-layered six-man tag match methodically building to a crescendo that delivered a payoff for ROH viewers who have followed the product on HDNet. Just a very good finish to ROH's run on HDNet. (***1/2)

WWE Superstars Results: 4-7-11

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results only.

1 -- JTG vs. DREW MCINTYRE

The announcers noted McIntyre is upset he didn't receive the title shot against Edge at WrestleMania, especially after Del Rio didn't get the job done. Back to Hunter-Taker, Striker said everything was right about the match, including the voices calling the match. McIntyre dominated JTG early on, but walked into a back body drop that gave JTG an opening. JTG scored successive nearfalls, including a close two count following a DDT, but McIntyre blocked the Mug Shot with a big boot to the face. McIntyre got that look in his eyes and grappled JTG to deliver the Future Shock DDT for the pin and the win.

WINNER: McIntyre at 4:38. Although it's Superstars, good to see focus on McIntyre, who looked strong coming out of the Elimination Chamber PPV, but was given nothing to work with on the way to WrestleMania.

2 -- YOSHI TATSU vs. TYSON KIDD

Nice start to this one with some athletic back-and-forth while Stanford ribbed Mathews about taking a Stunner from Stone Cold at WrestleMania. Kidd then tried a move off the ropes, but Yoshi dropkicked him over the top rope to the floor. Stanford with an early "house of fire" reference as Yoshi stood his ground in the ring in control of the action.

Back from break, Yoshi scored with a crucifix pin for a two count, but Kidd quickly cut off Yoshi with a clothesline and went to work on his opponent again. Stanford tried to get Mathews to "go there" cutting a promo on Michael Cole, but Mathews opted to ignore Cole's "performance" at Mania. A mid-ring double knock down put both men on the mat. Yoshi was the first up and delivered knife-edge chops followed by a kick strike. Next was a running knee to the face for a two count.

Yoshi opted to take it to the top rope for his next offensive attack, but he took too long and Kidd crotched him on the top turnbuckle. Kidd followed with a Frankensteiner and quickly made a cover for a two count. Kidd teased the Sharpshooter next, but Yoshi kicked him away to avoid. Kidd then went for a springboard dive, but Yoshi ducked, then smashed Kidd with a roundhouse kick for the pin and the win.

WINNER: Yoshi at 9:55. That was a heck of a TV singles match to close off WWE's WGN run. (**1/2)

3 -- SANTINO MARELLA vs. TED DIBIASE

No Maryse with DiBiase here. The match was taped prior to Tuesday's NXT developments, rending Stanford's commentary dated wondering about the relationship status between DiBiase and Maryse. Santino and DiBiase traded mat holds, then they came to a standstill. Santino offered a handshake, but DiBiase brushed him off. This made Santino quite upset. Meanwhile, Stanford complained about getting shorted $20 at Axxess. Santino and DiBiase came to another standstill, then DiBiase offered a handshake. Santino, so excited, took the bait and walked into a punch to the face. DiBiase gloated as Santino rolled to the floor as they cut to break.

Back from break, DiBiase was working over Santino in the ring with a reverse chinlock. Santino made his way to his feet and pumped his feet to build momentum for a chinbreaker on DiBiase, who absorbed the blow and dropped Santino again for a two count. Eight minutes in, Stanford noted Tamina was absent from Santino's side. He wanted the dirt, which drew Mathews's ire. DiBiase then scored another nearfall as the announcers noted this is when DiBiase has struggled recently trying to maintain his focus finishing off an opponent.

DiBiase kept on Santino, but Santino continued to escape pin attempts. DiBiase then pounded Santino to a seated position to the corner, drawing the ref's ire. DiBiase went for a flying corner attack, but Santino comically just fell on his face to sell the effects and avoided the move in the process. Santino then got the adrenaline rush to make a comeback, but DiBiase cut him off with a boot to the gut. DiBiase found an opening to grapple Santino for Dream Street, but Santino countered with an overhead toss. Santino then warmed up The Cobra and jabbed DiBiase in the throat for the pin and the win. Santino finishes off WWE's WGN run with a win.

Post-match: Mathews noted DiBiase was in control for the most part, but Santino just needs a few seconds. As Santino did the trumpet celebration, Stanford signed off for Superstars without so much as a word about this being the final episode on WGN.

WINNER: Santino at 10:50. Strong main event trying to get over DiBiase's aggressive streak, while Santino showed a more serious side to his in-ring abilities. To WWE's credit, they are trying to establish The Cobra as more than just a comedy finisher, but as a legitimate move. Santino taking a more serious tone to his matches helps in that area. (**)

TNA Impact! Results: 4-7-11

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Bax's complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results only.

1 – HERNANDEZ & ANARCHIA (w/Rosita & Sarita) vs. TOMMY DREAMER & DEVON

Hernandez was shouldered out of the ring early by Devon before he locked up with Anarchia. After a drop toe hold, Dreamer dropped an elbow before hitting a bodyslam. Another quick tag and Devon set up for the ‘WASSUP?’ spot and nailed it on Anarchia. As they celebrated, Hernandez came into the ring and attacked them from behind. The giant Mexican flag is still hanging.

Devon hit Hernandez with a Thesz press before Anarchia slung Dreamer into the ring post. With Devon in control in the ring, Rosita tried to interfere, which led to Devon planting a giant kiss on her. However, as the ref ushered her out of the ring, Anarchia hit Devon in the back with a steel chair as he bounced off the ropes and Hernandez got the pinfall victory.

WINNERS: Hernandez & Anarchia in 2:00.

Post-match, Hernandez sent the two women to ringside to pull the ring mats up at ringside. Hernandez then set up to hit a Razor’s Edge on Dreamer over the top rope onto the open concrete but Matt Morgan ran down to prevent him from doing so. Hernandez & Morgan had a stare down before Anarchia tried to attack the Blueprint from behind. However, Morgan fought him off and hit a chokeslam as Hernandez ran off quickly.

2 --- SAMOA JOE vs. MURPHY

Murphy started off with the advantage as Joe was trying to go after Pope. However, Joe absolutely leveled him with a clothesline before dragging him quickly into the rear naked choke and before Pope could get in more than a few sentences at the announce table, this match was over via submission.

WINNER: Joe via submission in 0:30.

Samoa Joe ran right up the ramp and went after the Pope, who ran away.

3 -- Knockouts tag champions SARITA & ROSITA vs. THE BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE -- KO Tag Title match

As Velvet was trying to help Angelina into the ring, she was attacked from behind by Sarita. However, the advantage didn’t last long as Velvet hit a drop kick before hitting and inverted atomic drop followed by a bulldog on Rosita. With Velvet controlling the action, Taz & Tenay announced that Bully Ray vs. Daniels would be a lumberjack match. TNA loves to announce stipulations during Knockouts matches.

Meanwhile, Velvet was trying to tag Angelina in, but she didn’t respond. Winter suddenly appeared on stage and gave her a hand signal, which led to Love hitting a big guillotine on Velvet, which she followed up with a beating in the ring before walking off back in her blank state. Sarita picked up the scraps and got the cheap pin for the win.

WINNERS: Sarita & Rosita in 1:30

4 -- GENERATION ME & ROBBIE E (w/COOKIE) vs. CHRIS SABIN &
BRIAN KENDRICK & SUICIDE

Sabin and Robbie started things off as the announcers mentioned the nine-man Ultimate Xscape match at Lockdown for the first time on TV, even though they’ve been plugging it online for a while. Sabin wrestled circles around Robbie for a moment before tagging in Suicide, who hit a few impact moves before getting into it with Max Buck, which allowed Robbie to recover and get a quick pin attempt.

Tenay mentioned the strife between the brothers Buck as Max Buck was tagged in. Apparently, Max is a glory hog while Jeremy does the dirty work. Suicide was isolated in the corner with a lot of quick tags before Max tagged himself in selfishly when Jeremy was in the ring, allowing Suicide to get a hot tag to Kendrick at 3:00. Kendrick hit multiple drop kicks before he isolated Max in the ring after Suicide and Sabin went for springboard crossbodies. Sabin connected, Suicide didn’t, which allowed Jeremy to get back in the ring and save his brother with a quick version of Trouble in Paradise.

Jeremy went up to the top turnbuckle to hit a high impact move but his own brother crotched him on and asked him what he was doing. Max then hit a brutal DDT with Jeremy’s feet on the top turnbuckle. As Max posed angrily on the ropes, Kendrick snuck in and picked up the cheap pinfall.

WINNERS: Sabin, Kendrick, and Suicide in 4:00.

After the match, Max glared at his downed brother and yelled at him before taking off his ‘Gen Me’ armband and throwing it on his brother.

5 - DANIELS vs. BULLY RAY -- LUMBERJACK MATCH

The initial stare down came to the sounds of a ‘Fallen Angel’ chant. However, Ray took early control of the match before Daniels fought out of the corner and hit two big armdrags and tossed Ray to ringside. Luckily for him, it was amidst the Immortal crew and he got back in largely unscathed. However, Ray turned the table quickly and tossed Daniels into Immortal, where he was pounded mercilessly until Fortune intervened.

Back in the ring, Ray hit two big open palm slaps on Daniels’s chest before leveling him with a right cross. As Daniels was down leaning on the second rope, Ray slapped him in the back of the head and then got him back up, only to level him with a clothesline. Three minutes into the match, this has been all Bully Ray, much to the displeasure of the crowd.

Ray picked up his chain with Daniels leaning on the turnbuckles for support. However, the ref took the chain away and while Ray was complaining, it allowed Daniels time to recover and start a comeback. Daniels hit two elbows and an enziguiri that allowed him to hit a top rope huracanrana. Ray managed to slow his momentum with a clothesline but then missed a big splash that gave Daniels an opening to take him down hard and hit the Best Moonsault Ever.

However, as the ref (Jackson James) was counting the pin, Flair pulled him out of the ring. Fortune and Immortal stared each other down while the ref separated them. Unfortunately for Daniels, who was held in a headlock between the ropes by Bully Ray standing at ringside that meant that James’s back was turned when Hogan himself came down and hit a knockout punch on Daniels with the chain wrapped around his hand. James managed to notice what was going on just in time to count the pinfall victory for Bully Ray.

WINNER: BULLY RAY in 5:00.

6 -- TNA champion STING vs. ROB VAN DAM -- non-title match

RVD and Sting locked up briefly after the ball before both men played to the crowd. Lots of early stalling while the announcers talked up the possibility of Anderson scouting both men so close to Lockdown. When some action finally happened, RVD hit two thrust kicks off of the top rope before hitting Rolling Thunder for a two count. RVD’s momentum as stopped when he went for a big shoulder block in the corner and Sting moved, sending Van Dam’s shoulder flying into the ring post.

Sting took advantage of this, whipping Van Dam into the corner and following it up with a Stinger Splash. Shortly thereafter, RVD went down to a Scorpion Death Drop. As Sting stood up and everyone expected to see the Scorpion Death Lock, Anderson suddenly stopped playing the neutral ref and hit the Mic Check on Sting.

With both men down, Anderson started the count but skipped from one to six, which meant that RVD barely made it to his feet to avoid the double count-out. As the announcers said that RVD didn’t see Sting get hit with the Mic Check, Van Dam dragged a prone Sting to the center of the ring and hit the Five Star Frog Splash for the win.

WINNER: RVD in 3:30.

1 – KANE & BIG SHOW & SANTINO MARELLA & KOFI KINGSTON vs. THE CORRE – TWO-OUT-OF-THREE FALLS MATCH

Did the Corre’s theme get remixed again? Yeesh. Booker continued to harp on Corre’s lack of leadership and that possibly being their downfall. Justin Gabriel quickly went into a cover on Santino Marella early on, then tagged in Heath Slater once he got a clear advantage. Right hand to Santino and he went down, but then countered Slater’s punch and tagged Kane. Seated dropkick by Kane, while Slater was wiping his hair out of his face. Hard slap to the chest by Big Show, followed by a slam. Show then stepped on, then over Slater. Kofi tagged in, and stood on Show’s shoulders. Show walked to the middle of the ring so Kofi could splash Slater. He set up for Trouble in Paradise, but Corre pulled Slater out of the ring. They went to break at 2:25 of the first fall.

Kane was in the midst of an assault on Wade Barrett upon return from break, at about the 6:10 mark of fall number one. Barrett got an elbow up in the corner, giving him enough room to tag Zeke Jackson. He and Kane milked the moment, then squared off with a collar-and-elbow tie-up. Shoulder tackle, but it was Zeke who was taken off balance. Corre got involved illegally, giving Jackson the chance to take over. Lots of quick tags by the heels as they isolated Kane in their corner. Kane tagged Kofi at 8:40 and Kingston employed some of his high-octane offense to get the crowd into it. High crossbody of the top on Gabriel, and the first fall was registered at 9:08. The fall was announced, then just before Kofi and Gabriel were to go back at it, they went to break again.

WINNER of fall one: Santino, Kofi, Kane and Show, at 9:08.

Slater and Marella were going at it out of break. Santino made his comeback around 14:14 of the contest, then set up the Cobra. As he did, he missed the tag to Barrett, who kicked him in the face. Wasteland connected, and Barrett picked up the three at 14:43.

WINNER of fall two: Corre, at 5:35 (14:43 total).

Barrett stayed on the offensive against Corre, then dragged Santino over to his corner for another extended beat-down by the heels. Jackson got to toss Marella around a bit to show his strength. A pin was broken up by Show. Gabriel came in and worked a rear chinlock as Show tried to work the crowd. Santino got to his feet, but Gabriel put him back down. The audio sweetener liked that one, but not as much as last week’s Impact. Kane made the tag at about 17:35, as did Barrett. Side slam by Kane for two. Kane to the top, and his clothesline connected. Jackson broke up the pin and it was breaking loose in Charlotte. The combatants all went after each other outside the ring. Kane set up for the chokeslam, but the rest of Corre attacked, and the referee rang the bell.

WINNER of fall three (and match): Show, Kingston, Kane and Santino, via DQ at 3:47 (18:30 total). Good for what it was, with a combination long-form match and a stipulation that isn’t overused.

After the match all the faces hit their finishers on the heels, including Santino teaming up with Show and Kane on a chokeslam.

2- CODY RHODES vs. TRENT BARRETA

Rhodes pounded on Barreta with some right hands, but Barreta landeda springboard dropkick off the top rope. Side Russian leg sweep by Rhodes after Barreta couldn’t capitalize on his high-impact move. He threw Barreta shoulder-first into the ring post, then landed Cross Rhodes for three.

WINNER: Rhodes, at 1:30. The build-up of Rhodes continues.

After the match, Rhodes continued attacking Barreta, this time, by using his mask. Rey Mysterio’s music played and he came out, going right after Cody’s mask. Cody escaped before Mysterio could rip it off.

3 – LAYCOOL vs. KELLY KELLY & BETH PHOENIX

Mathews asked Cole why he wasn’t in his singlet tonight. “Because I’m not wre….I’m not entertaining tonight.” He even seemed to laugh at almost saying the “w” word. Layla was cheering on McCool from ringside, but McCool, who was thrown into the ropes, knocked Layla off. “What are you doing?” McCool shouted at her partner. Phoenix took advantage of the miscommunication, putting McCool down with a back-breaker. Apparently, McCool didn’t feel knocking Layla off, as she was wondering what Layla was doing down there. Beth pressed Layla over her head and placed her stomach-first over the top turnbuckle, then kicked her. Tag in to Kelly, who choked Layla with her legs in the ropes. She went to the top and landed a Tommy Dreamer-like cross-body for two. Bronco Buster by Kelly for two. Layla came back with some light kicks, then went to tag McCool. Michelle comically fell from the apron, feigning a back injury. Layla was rolled up by Kelly and pinned for three.

WINNERS: Kelly and Beth, at 2:40. Looks like the break-up of LayCool is back on the front-burner. This match had some unique moves in it.

Layla tracked down McCool in the aisle, but Michelle pulled her arm away when Layla grabbed it. “I’m the one doing this for you,” McCool told her, then walked away.

4 – ALBERTO DEL RIO vs. CHRISTIAN - #1 CONTENDER’S MATCH FOR THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

After Christian came out, Edge entered the arena to do guest commentary. The first pin attempt was by Del Rio about 45 seconds into the match. Test of strength tease, but Del Rio got the upper hand. Leapfrog by Christian, who took down Del Rio with a few shoulder tackles. Headlock take-over by Christian on Del Rio. Right hand slaps by Christian, who then threw Del Rio over the top rope. Baseball slide by Christian to Del Rio. Del Rio used the commentary table to hoist himself up, and Edge held up the title, almost right in his face. They went to break about 3:10 into the main event.

Back at approximately 5:55. Del Rio tossed Christian into the ring steps on the outside, then into the barricade. Christian worked out of a rest-hold as WWE thanked the Charlotte Regional Film Commission in small print at the bottom of the screen. Running knee to the face by Del Rio on Christian in the corner. Christian came back with a right hand. He went to the top rope, but Del Rio put a stop to that. He tried to suplex Christian off, and did so. Edge likened that move to an electric charge going through your body. Inside cradle by Christian, who had been playing possum. Only a two-count. Del Rio missed wildly with a punch, and Christian clotheslined Del Rio over the top rope, although he went over as well. Christian was thrown into the ring post head-first, and Del Rio just made it back in the ring before the ten-count (he had rolled Christian in beforehand). Christian dodged Del Rio as the heel came off the turnbuckle. Christian started hitting his signature moves just after 11:00 of the match. Cross-body off the top by Christian for two. Cross arm-breaker was countered and Christian tried a springboard sunset flip. Del Rio rolled through and catapulted Christian into the corner. Del Rio then locked on the cross arm-breaker. Christian tangled his feet in the ropes to break. Christian gave Del Rio a bit of whiplash, working over the neck on the top rope. Brodus Clay distracted Christian, so Edge speared the big man. Del Rio hit an enziguiri on Christian, who had settled on the top rope. The pin was made and Del Rio got the win.

WINNER: Del Rio, at 13:20. Very good main event, with Christian’s history in Ladder Matches an intriguing sub-plot.

Del Rio made the title belt sign with his hands around his waist as he made his way up the ramp. Edge checked on Christian in the ring as the show ended.
