ROH on HDNet Results: 10-25-10
Results courtesy of ProWrestling.net (direct link to Mathieson's complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results only.
1. The Embassy (Necro Butcher and Erick Stevens) defeated Grizzly Redwood and Andy "Right Leg" Ridge in 6:20. Grizzly got a bit of offense to start the match, but Necro quickly took control and Ridge and Stevens tagged in. Ridge hit a couple kicks (with his right leg, of course).
Necro and Stevens hit a double team wheelbarrow into a punch into a suplex on Ridge. Necro continued to beat on Ridge for a couple minutes, culminating with two chokeslams and a short-arm lariat before tagging in Stevens.
Ridge tried to make the hot tag after a stunner, but Stevens caught him. Eventually Ridge kicked Stevens in the head and tagged in Grizzly, who got two with a huracanrana on Stevens. Redwood went up top, but was caught coming off the ropes by Stevens, who threw him outside into a punch from Necro. Necro threw Grizzly back in the ring and Stevens hit Ghanarhea for the pin.
Joe's Judgment: Fun action from three of the wrestlers involved. Grizzly and Stevens work well together, and Ridge has potential, but I just don't care about the Embassy and the Stevens/Necro team doesn't really work. It's too bad, because as I've said for years, Stevens is talented and could really use some direction.
2. The House of Truth (Josh Raymond and Christian Able w/Truth Martini) defeated the Super Smash Brothers in 5:30. The HOT dominated the first several minutes, with some nice double teams including Able powerbombing Raymond onto a kneeling Player Dos.
Dos finally hit a double backflip kick and hot tagged Player Uno. The SSB hit an elevated elbow drop, and Dos sent Able to the outside. He went for a skytwister of some sort, but Able moved and Dos hit the outside. Raymond and Able hit the Tower of Truth on Uno and Able covered for the pin.
Joe's Judgment: Lots of fun while it lasted. I'm really high on Raymond and Able, so to see them get a clean pin is nice. This could have gotten a bit more time, but I do want to see more from both these teams, so this match was definitely a success in that respect.
3. The Kings of Wrestling (Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli w/Shane Hagadorn, Sara Del Rey) defeated the Briscoes to retain the ROH World Tag Team Championships in 18:22. Mark slapped Hero within the first minute, and Claudio tagged in and retaliated with a slap of his own. Mark beat Claudio up and sent him to ringside.
The Briscoes continued to mostly control things, and at 3:30 the Kings teased walking away, but eventually returned. First Jay, then Mark hit dives around 6:00. Jay and Claudio traded shots in the center of the ring, Claudio winning with a springboard European uppercut followed by a tag to Hero. Mark tagged in and got two with a crossbody.
Mark went for an exploder at 8:00, but Hero countered and hit an exploder of his own. Mark was kneeling with his head on the second rope and Sara Del Rey punched him, leading to her being ejected by Paul Turner. The Kings continued to dominate Mark. At 12:00, Mark started to make a comeback, but it was thwarted with an elbow/spinebuster combo from the Kings.
Claudio locked in a modified horse collar, but Mark got to the ropes. Hero knocked him to the floor and Claudio hit a suplex on the mat, followed by Hagadorn choking him out. Claudio hit the UFO for a two count, and held Mark for an elbow, but Mark ducked and Hero hit Claudio. Mark hit a suplex and made the tag to Jay.
Jay hit a double crossbody and then the Jaydriller. He covered, but Hero broke up the pin. Mark sent Hero to ringside and then went up top for the Doomsday Device. Hero pulled him off the top rope into a tree of woe, and Hagadorn entered the ring. He went for a piledriver on Jay, but Jay backdropped him and started menacingly toward him. Hagadorn kicked him below the belt and Claudio covered for the pin.
Post match, Mike Briscoe jumped the guardrail and beat on Hagadorn. The Kings tried to stop him, but the Briscoes prevented them from doing anything. Mike grabbed the mic and said that normally he doesn't interfere in his sons' business, but he'd be damned if he let Hagadorn kick his son in the balls.
Joe's Judgment: The match built so well to a finish that never really came. At least after the low blow have Claudio hit the Ricola Bomb or something so that Jay doesn't just lie there and get pinned by one low blow after standing on the apron for ten minutes. Whatever. Can't say I'm all that excited about the prospect of another Kings/Briscoes match, but they've exceeded my expectations twice already, so who knows?

WWE NXT Results: 11-2-10
Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report). Only one match took place (which didn't involve the NXT divas), the wedding and the elimination.
1 -- ALICIA FOX vs. KELLY KELLY
Cole and Mathews debated Taylor Swift, who dropped a tune on "Dancing with the Stars" earlier tonight, trying to seem "relevant" on this Internet broadcast. In the ring, Kelly and Alicia exchanged control before Kelly hit a modified Rocker Dropper for the pin and the win. Cole mocked the execution of the move, which wasn't exactly fluid.
WINNER: Kelly in 2:00. It happened.
Final Immunity Standings:
-- Naomi: 3 points
-- A.J.: 2 points
-- Kaitlyn: 2 points
-- Maxine: 1 point
-- Aksana: 0 points
Wedding: Out first for the wedding was Cody Rhodes as Mathews asked who the wedding coordinator is. Cole said "Johnny Ace" is the wedding coordinator. Dusty Rhodes then came out as the father of the groom. Cole said he thinks "Fozzy" is performing at the reception. Hornswoggle then came out as the ring bearer. Cue up Goldust's theme music and the groom entered the ring with possession of the Million Dollar Title belt. Cole said he thought Goldust and Cody hated each other. Mathews told Cole it's not a real wedding. Cole shot back, "You mean this is a fake wedding?" Cole then mocked his P.R. line sarcastically saying WWE is all about family.
After everyone was asked to stand up, Aksana came out sporting a golden wedding dress. Mathews said he hasn't seen a more beautiful bride. Cole said his wife on her wedding day. He added he's trying to score points at home since he hasn't been home in a while. The "presiding minister" dryly and monotonously introduced the wedding before asking Aksana and Goldust to receipt their vows. The audience chimed in with "What?!" chants. Aksana thanked Goldust for saving her. She started a "U-S-A" chant as Cole said this sounds like an Ed Koskie production. Are we getting a Lagana name-drop tonight? The "minister" stumbled over his lines as the announcers said it looks like Al Wilson. The minister said he objects to this wedding. Because everyone has a price.
Out came Ted DiBiase and Maryse to interrupt. DiBiase said this isn't the first time money has destroyed a marriage. Is this Vince writing a promo on Linda's failed $50 campaign? DiBiase then brought out the immigration dude. DiBiase said there is one thing Goldust can do to save this pathetic sham of a wedding. Dusty Rhodes then cut a promo about going to the Pope, then going down to Mississippi to find a real minister. He said he needs him to come make this lovely couple feel good. So, Mr. Minister, come on down, jack. You knew it. Out came "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase. DiBiase, Sr. walked by Ted, Jr., who sold shock. Mathews mocked the coincidence of these events occurring.
DiBiase, Sr. entered the ring and shook hands as Ted, Jr. asked why his dad is doing this. Ted, Sr. said the look on his son's face right now is priceless. He asked for the rings and asked Goldust and Aksana to exchange I Dos. DiBiase pronounced them "man and wife" and told Goldust to plant a kiss. Dusty Rhodes suddenly scored a kiss, which drew a look of shock from Goldust. Goldust went for his kiss, but Aksana slapped him and walked off. Aksana acted like a heel strutting out of the ring after conning poor Goldust into marriage. Cole said Goldust will have to go back on the Internet tonight.
Maxine was eliminated from NXT.

WWE Superstars Results: 11-4-10
Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results only.
1 -- JACK SWAGGER (w/Mascot) vs. KAVAL
Swagger dominated early on as Grisham noted Swagger being a former World Hvt. champion. Kaval popped Swagger in the chest with a kick, then Swagger sent Kaval to the outside. Kaval played cat and mouse to set up Swagger for a kick to the shoulder before flying off the top rope with a splash on the floor. Back in the ring, Kaval landed kick strikes and scored a nearfall. Kaval tried to ground Swagger, who came back with a knee to the gut followed by a knee to the back that sent Kaval flying off the apron into the guardrail. The mascot was very pleased with this.
Back in the ring, Swagger settled into a modified Rings of Saturn before Kaval fought to his feet. Swagger cut him right off and knocked Kaval to the outside. Swagger then paraded around the ring while the eagle flapped its wings ringside. Once again back in the ring, Swagger dominated the action some more before nailing the big running Vader Bomb for a two count. Grisham then sent the action to a break with Swagger still in control.
Swagger was still dominating back from break. Kaval then came back with a handspring double foot kick knocking Swagger to the outside. Swagger ran back into the ring, but took multiple kick strikes anyways. Kaval then called for the end and landed a running kick strike to the mid-section for a nearfall. Kaval tried to follow with a springboard smash, but Swagger ducked and followed with an overhead belly-to-back suplex for a two count. They went back and forth trading nearfalls as Striker dramatically built up to a description of Kaval as...exciting.
Kaval tried the Warrior's Way from the top rope, but Swagger moved. The eagle then got involved by grabbing Kaval's foot from the floor as the ref was preoccupied with Swagger. Swagger followed right up with the Anklelock and Kaval was forced to tap out, giving Swagger the win. The mascot hopped right into the ring and celebrated with mascot-like mannerisms while Swagger got his shine.
WINNER: Swagger via submission in 12:00. Good match. It felt like they were holding back a bit, but easily one of the better Superstars matches in a while breaking the mold of the generic WWE style. (**1/4)
2 -- LUKE GALLOWS vs. VANCE ARCHER
Striker did a gravely Vince McMahon voice saying he likes to see two big heavyweights just slug it out in the ring. Archer, as the heel, took control here. Grisham said Gallows has had a "lifestyle change" since leaving C.M. Punk's SES. Archer continued to dominate before playing to the crowd. He took too long going up top, allowing Gallows to drop him off the turnbuckles to the mat.
Gallows made a comeback with successive clothesline before dropping the straps. Gallows looked like Gillberg with his eyes popping out of his head before he ran around Archer in circles and landed a flying splash for a two count. Striker noted an apathetic crowd reaction. Gallows then followed with the Gallows Pole for the pin and the win. To conclude the segment, Gallows smiled for the crowd to indicate he's a babyface.
WINNER: Gallows in 4:00. Just weird. The crowd was about as indifferent as indifferent gets. It would help if WWE actually reintroduced Gallows's character, but it looks like they're not ready to invest that much time into his new babyface persona. (*)
3 -- GAIL KIM vs. ALICIA FOX
Typical start with Alicia taking control with heel tactics. Gail then came off the top with a splash for a two count before Alicia regained control and cut off Gail's attempted comebacks. Alicia tried to take a powder when Gail teased a stronger comeback, but Gail dragged her back into the ring. Gail then hit the Eat Defeat jawbreaker for the pin and the win.
WINNER: Gail in 3:00. Good showcase for Gail, who hasn't been featured at all recently. Gail and Alicia have nice chemistry in the ring and could add something to Raw once in a while. (*)
4 -- MARK HENRY vs. USOS (JIMMY & JEY w/Tamina)
Jimmy was ready to start things off, but Henry wanted a piece of Jey, who kicked Henry in the face last week. Jey found himself in trouble until Jimmy blind-tagged into the match and took out Henry at the knees from behind to take control of the match. That was only momentary, as Henry made a comeback with successive clotheslines. He followed with a big splash attempt, but Jimmy rolled out of the way. Tamina then tagged Henry in the face with a kick from the outside as the ref was distracted. Jey then tagged in and landed a Superfly splash. He made a cover and that was good for a three count.
WINNER: Usos in 4:00. Fine showcase for the Usos. Cheating was the only realistic way for the Usos to win the match and it kept the program going. Just the visual of one of the Usos pinning Henry was beneficial for their progression as a serious act. (*)

1 -- SARITA vs. VELVET SKY
Tenay announced that RVD vs. Styles vs. Rhino had just been booked for the TV main event. Sky threw some weak-looking chops at Sarita in the corner. Sarita blocked a DDT attempt and then clotheslined a frustrated Sky. She went into sustained offense and a near fall. Sky fired back with more weak chops. Sarita punched her in response. Sky escaped an underhook powerbomb attempt and threw more weak chops. She followed with a running bulldog type move and a clothesline. Sarita went for a counter, but Sky leveraged herself into landing on Sarita for a two count. Sarita finally executed the double underhook powerbomb for the win.
WINNER: Sarita in 3:00.
2 -- MAX BUCK & JEREMY BUCK (Generation Me) & TARA vs. SHANNON MOORE & JESSE NEAL (Ink Inc.) & MICKIE JAMES
Taz said Generation Me remind him a lot of himself when he wrestled. Tenay said there is absolutely nothing they do that he did. Taz said he was like Generation Me when he was their age in terms of being self-centered. Tara rode to ringside on a motorcycle. Tara kicked Neal at ringside at 3:00. Taz wondered about the mic dropping backstage. Tenay said it was a technical malfunction, "and believe me, it wouldn't be the first time," he added. Tara broek up a Moore pin on Max. Mickie dove onto Tara. Mickie then kicked Max in the head. Neal then picked up Max at which point Moore leaped off the top rope with a neckbreaker for the win. Afterward GenMe and Tara jumped Ink Inc. and Tara.
WINNERS: Ink Inc. & Mickie at 5:00.
STAR RATING: *1/4
3 -- A.J. STYLES vs. RHINO vs. ROB VAN DAM -- TNA World TV Title Match
Tenay reiterated that Bischoff booked this match-up. The referee held the TV Title belt in the air before the match. Styles got in RVD's face. RVD shoved him right into Rhino, who tossed Styles to the floor. RVD and Rhino exchanged a few words, at which point Rhino jumped to ringside and went after Styles. Styles reverse-whipped Rhino into the stairs, then returned to the ring and took on RVD. When Rhino returned to the ring, Styles side-stepped a Rhino attempt at a Gore. RVD recovered and surprised Styles with a jump reverse sidekick to the chest. As RVD and Rhino argued again, Styles dove onto both of them and then rolled up RVD for the win to retain his title. Tenay said Bischoff wins in two ways: Styles retained the title while the RVD-Rhino tension increased.
WINNER: Styles in 5:00.
STAR RATING: *1/2
-Afterward Sabu, Stevie Richards, Tommy Dreamer, and Raven walked out to try to separate RVD and Rhino. RVD shoved Raven. Dreamer grabbed a mic and called for a truce. He asked RVD what's wrong in his head. He complained he won't call him back. RVD asked why he should trust him like he trusted Jeff. RVD said he's wondering who's going to attack him next. He asked why Dreamer is so defensive and asked what he's hiding. Dreamer said they're just playing into Bischoff's master plan. He suggested they "go old school" at Turning Point. By "old school," he means a match where he can use short-cut weapons to cover up for his lack of confidence he can have a full-fledged watchable match without apparatus involved?
4 -- KAZ vs. DOUGLAS WILLIAMS
Flair came out first and held up his fingers, then joined Taz and Tenay on commentary. Taz called it a real honor. Beer Money walked out to ringside to watch as the match began. Flair said, "The Cowboys are out!" Taz joked, "Better than the ones in Dallas." Flair said Keith Mitchell might be upset, but what's he going to do about it? Taz quipped: "Lose." Williams out-wrestled Kaz in the first two minutes. Flair said Morgan had a chance to be part of the big time, but he bailed out on them too soon to achieve that. In the end, Kaz reverse-whipped Williams into Storm standing on the ring apron, then rolled him up for the win.
WINNER: Kaz in 4:00.
-Williams shoved Kaz in frustration afterward. Beer Money got between them. Flair joined them and offered a handshake to Williams. Williams tentatively accepted, then grabbed Kaz's hand while pointing at his face with the other. Flair tried to talk them into signing a sincere handshake. They briefly shook hands, then everyone stacked their hands in mid-ring.
5 -- ABYSS vs. THE POPE
Pope went on the attack, but Abyss dropped him with a big boot and then worked over his taped ribs with a splash in the corner. When Abyss beat on Pope at ringside, Abyss got distracted by a fan yelling at him. The camera operator gave away the angle by swaying the camera to a fan seconds before Abyss turned to him. Abyss pie-faced one fan and yanked the other fan over the railing and punched him. Abyss yanked two more fans over the railing. He tore the shirt off of one fan before Al Snow, D-Lo, and others intervened. Pope entered the ring and challenged him to a Lumberjack Match at Turning Point. Pope said, "Since you've got hard-on for Pope's congregation," he wanted the fans to be his lumberjacks. Abyss said, "You're on!"
WINNER: No contest in 2:00.
