Lomachislots War - Lost Childhood (Original) ~

Phineas shrugged lightly as he limped his way down. He knew he was "seriously wounded" but hated thinking that way. A nurse rushed to help him and they made their way into the hospital. Andy slowly helped Anise down and they too, made their way to the stone building.

The whine of the machines was the only thing that could be heard in Rin's hospital room. She sat on a hospital bed with a mask over her mouth constantly feeding her oxygen, a nurse continued to monitor her slowly falling life signs and estimated the ten year old only had a few more hours to live - in short by the next morning Rin would be dead.
She didn't have the heart to tell Anise who was awake and squeezing Rin's hand. When she turned she found the doctor standing in the doorway. "Anything?" the nurse asked as she walked up to the doctor.
He glanced at Anise and Rin and then back at the nurse, in a whisper he said. "I can't raise their parents, I called up a police friend of mine who went to their home, he found their parents shot dead," he said. The nurse almost dropped her clipboard but thanks to it being attached to a ring on her neck the clipboard merely hung there beside her chest.
"Poor things, we'll have to admit them to an orphanage in the capital," the nurse whispered. The doctor nodded and sighed, "let's wait until tomorrow before writing out the paper work," he said and then made his way to another room that had Phineas and Andy in it. The nurse just watched him leave before letting out a sigh and walking back into the room that Rin was in.

The doctor entered. "Phineas Williams?"
Phineas slowly looked up and nodded. He managed to get up and walked over to the doctor. The doctor looked at the chart. "It says here that you have a mild leg infarction but refuse on an amputation? Is that correct?"
Phineas replied briefly. "Yes, sir. That's right."
The doctor slowly looked him up and down. "And you're sure? If you don't, you'll be in constant, brutal pain. Why don't I call your folks up?"
Phineas glared at the doctor. "I do not have any parents. I'm keeping my leg and I'll have whatever pain killing medicine there is. I'm just keeping the damn leg, doctor."
The doctor shrugged. "Alright, Phineas. Your call. But we will have to remove the damaged muscles. We also will need to get you fitted for a cane. If you'll follow me, please."
Phineas briefly nodded at Andy and went with the doctor. The doctor led Phineas into an operation room. "It shouldn't take that long. Hold tight, Phineas." About two hours later, Phineas was wincing when he walked, but did not show the complete pain on his face. He hid it rather well. The doctor handed him a cane and a bottle of Vicodin. Phineas took both and nodded thanks to the doctor and went back to Andy.

Outside of town, just beyond the hills
The roar of tank could be heard for miles around; even the hills that surrounded the city weren't enough to shadow the sound. While most of the cities inhabitents had just chalked it up to the sound of air craft flying over head but some already knew what was headed their way.
A large man wearing a military uniform walked between the tanks; behind him a line of artillery had their barrels pointed into the air. "Targets painted," a small man said as he looked at a display, "we've painted the mayors house, several schools and even their fire and rescue and hospital.
"Give it another five minutes, our agents should be 'removing' the threats as we speak," the large man said, grinning from ear to ear. In less than ten minute's he would level the city and continue his campaign to the capital.
Behind the row of artillery were over a hundred soldiers dressed in robes. Each had jet black hair and carried a staff but also hed red eyes which burned with fury.
Hospital
Anise was sobbing, worried about her twin sister. The nurse had been telling her to get some rest but she had refused, the nurse had also been aware of her medical condition and was bugging her to be changed but Anise refused, saying she cared more about her twin sister.
With a heavy sigh the nurse walked out of her room and stopped near the nurse's table. Her collegue snapped her head toward the room and she nodded. "Their ready, time to remove them..." the other nurse said in a low tone. Her collegue smiled and slowly pulled out a two foot blade from the inside of her nursing jacket and slowly made her way back into Rin's room.
Unbeknowst to the two nurses a cloaked figure was observing their actions; and ready to pounce.

Phineas leaned back in the chair next to Andy. They were silent and then Phineas broke it. "God, it hurts." He cracked a smile, Andy grinned back. "An infarction, Finny? I had no idea what you were saying half the time."
"If only you payed attention in class."
"Which, you know I never do."
"Which, makes this conversation even more useless." After Phineas said this, the boys started laughing together. Phineas, grimaced suddenly though, and popped a pill in his mouth. "Well...whatever happens, happens..."
