i thought the first few episodes were great, but the minute they got stuck on that island, it all went waay downhill, it got repeatitive and boring. so naturally i lost interest

Same opinion. Now they reshow the whole anime again and i've to wait again.

I'm not a fan of it because it looks like 2 others anime, pokemon and digimon. They have got the same idea at teh same time, little monster, little monster...xDxd
But the story is good, it introduce some history about egyptian^^

Kinda...the whole last series is basically set in ancient egypt.
But it's nothing like Pokemon (rubbish) Digimon (brill!). The stroy focuses on the chracters, not the monsters. The card game plays a big part in the anime, but it's the dialogue and flashbacks that you have to watch out for.
