Lucia: Hello! I'm Lucia, and this is my first fic on CapturedWings.Net! I was an author for a few months at FF.Net, and still am. Anyways, as I don't have much to say...well...CCS doesn't belong to me. It belongs to Clamp. See ya!

Midnight Moon

Chapter 1

My Family...

The rain poured down on me and turned to tears in my eyes as they cascaded down my already wet cheeks.

You know, it seems like it was only yesterday that it happened...I still cannot believe that it has already been 8 years...

My name is Kinomoto Sakura. I am 17 years old. When I was a child, people called me fortunate. They called me 'God's Favorite Daughter'. I had a large house, a cat, and a family that loved me.

My father was the famed Fujitaka Kinomoto. He had discovered many things about the past, and people congratulated him for it. My mother was a model. Her name was Nadeshiko Kinomoto nee Amaniya. My brother was 7 years older than me and always called me a 'kaijuu'.

I thought that I had everything, yes. At school, I was very popular and loved by everyone. However, the worst imaginable happened, and I still haven't gotten over it.

I was 9 years old at that time. Mama, Papa and Touya were going to pay a visit to someone in Hong Kong. I wanted to go with them, but Mama forbade it. She said I was too young.

The night before the flight, Mama came into my room. I was still not over the fact that they would be leaving me with Ruiya for a month and a half. She sat down on my bed.

'Sakura? Are you alright?'

'Mama, you'll come back, won't you? Won't you?'

Mama looked up.

'I cannot give assurances, Sakura. Anything can happen to anyone.'

'M-mama...'

Suddenly, Mama looked down at me. Still I can remember those expressive and glimmering eyes. Still...

'Sakura...if we do not come back, will you promise me to stay safe?'

'M-m-mama!'

'I mean it, Sakura. Do you promise?'

'I-i-i...'

'Sakura?'

'I-i promise.'

'That's my girl.' And Mama held me close to her bosom and hummed a melody in that quiet and beautiful yet haunting voice of hers.

------------

The next day was very beautiful. Birds flew over our heads and the flowers glowed strongly in the dazzling sunlight.

We were at the airport. Touya told little kaijuu not to worry. So did Papa. And Mama.

Ruiya, our long time caretaker, took us to the viewing window. I thought I could see Mama and Papa smiling at me.

Perhaps the last smile of their lives.

I suddenly realised that something was wrong and a split-second later, the plane burst into flames.

I shrieked and howled, oblivious to everything else.

'Mama! Papa! Touya! MAMAAAA!'

-----------

The reports came in. The plane exploded because of a gaseous leak. But somehow, I knew that Mama knew about this. Somehow.

And here I am, 8 years later...

Still standing in the rain.

I hated that place. I hated Hong Kong and everyone inside it.

5 years after that accident, I decided to move to Tokyo. I couldn't stand it here. The house felt haunted. All of Tomoeda felt haunted!

My cousin, Tomoyo Daidouji decided to move with me. She said, I won't ever leave you, Sakura.

And so, the two of us left for Tokyo, and abandoned the dreadful and haunted house.

3 years later, I am here in the rain, waiting for a bus to come by.

When I arrived here in Tokyo, I developed an cold exterior. I shunned everyone's society.

I know what you're thinking. A freezing ice prison. That, was and is my perfect world. The solitary world.

And now, I'm still here.
